After a few months, I wanted to cancel because the location wasn't working out well for me any longer. After a workout, I went to the desk to ask if I could cancel my membership. The person behind the counter said there was no manager and they couldn't do it. I then called the next day during business hours so a manager would be there and the manager said I had to physically be there (and be there when a manager was there) to cancel. They refused to accommodate my request over the phone and would not do it through a fax. It was too hard for me to get there during office hours so I called corporate and they wouldn't do it over the phone either. I didn't matter if I told them my entire social security number and address, a cancellation request needed to be done in person, with a manager at a store. The corporate office said then I could do it with a letter through US mail so I then sent a letter. I knew I was going to be billed at least one more time, but sure enough I was billed again and AGAIN and then charged a yearly maintenance fee. I called the Gym and they would not give me the corporate number. The manager called corporate and he told me corporate had no record of my request. So I was back to square one with a refusal to credit my account. I would not recommend this gym if you think you may ever need to cancel. If money wasn't tight for me, I'd almost find this experience amusing. I have heard some gyms are like this, so let me tell you based on my experience, Fitness One is one of these gyms that follows the strategy of making it very difficult to cancel.
