Margot offers a friendly, warm atmosphere. We enjoy BYOBs, so it's always nice to find a new one so close to home. The service was prompt and the timing between courses was well spaced. The winter salad was nice except that the champagne/oil dressing a little bitter. My gorgonzola crostini was quite nice. For entrees, my girlfired had the risotto of the day (red wine risotto with beef medallions) and I tried the duck, which was served with mashed potatoes and fried zuchinni. The flavors were nice but the execution and pairings were a bit off. The medallions were overcooked slightly, which can happen with thin cuts of meat. And my overall meal was heavy. The duck was nicely prepared but may have been better if served with lighter sides.\r

The owner and staff seem intent on getting input from patrons so they can get it right. I applaud that approach. We'll go back in six months and see how they're doing.
Pros: Ambience, BYOB, attentive service
Cons: Food is good but a work in progress
