I went to Dr. Zwart with little to no information about hypothyroidism. I left with the same basic info. I have severe depression in addition to hypothyroidism but he relayed NO info about the enormeous link between the two and the necessity of keeping med straight, on time, etc. I never really felt much better after starting the Levothyroxine, but he said ""he wouldn't need to see me again"" that my OB/GYN could monitor my levels. Since hypothyroidism has such a dramatic effect on depression, you would assume that he would want to keep on top of them himself on a regular basis. I am trying to find a better doctor and would very much appreciate any name that could be passed my way.
