As someone who frequents The Capitol Grille, Abe and Louies, and other great steak houses in tBoston I was pleasently surprised with Metro 9. In an area over run with chain resturaunts Metro 9 is unique and provides the attention to detail that an original resturaunt thrives on. We did not have reservations, which Is the norm for us since we like to enjoy a drink or two at the bar before eating. The martini list was impressive, my wife enjoying the Pomegranate martini, and I enjoyed the Metro 9 manhattan. The bar atmosphere was enjoyable, many interesting people to meet and talk with. The bar staff was more attentive than I am used to at a steakhouse bar. We where soon seated for dinner. We had the calamari for an app, it was lightly battered and not chewy, par for the course. The menu included a thick cut sirloin, which was something I had never had at the other steak houses, so I ordered that along with the lobster macaroni for a side. The sirloin came out about 2.5-3 inches thick the way you would expect a filet. I enjoy my meat on the rare side and it was cooked perfectly. In speaking with our waiter I found out that they have the high temp ovens that sear the outside and keep the juices in. It showed, nothing against sirloin, but this one tasted like a higher grade steak. The macaroni was excellent, although I have to confess my wife commandeered most of it. I am not a desert person, however my wife raved about hers ( sorry dont remember what it was) while I enjoyed my port. Our waiter was very proffesional and informative and never to far to fill a need. Overall, I enjoyed the food and drinks very much. The look of the resturaunt is great, it needs a couple small finishing touches, but you have to look for them. The service was excellent, all the way around. I really think Metro 9 will save me in two ways, 1) from driving into the city to get a good steak, and 2) saving me some money off the cost of the places in the city.
