Big Papi's....not so much 4/20/2010

I stopped in here because it sounded like a very good place to have a lunch meeting for business. Came in wuith a colleague of mine and we sat and wait for our guests to arrive. Staff did not come over at all. Our guests arrived and ten minutes went by before we were acknowledged. Pros: Location, Portions Cons: Staff, price more

Unedible 11/11/2008

My wife and I were shopping in Framingham tonight and decided to give the Metro 9 steak house a try. The restaurant was nice in appearance both inside and out. Unfortunately that is only nice thing I can say. The server was polite but inattentive. I had to flag down the manager to find out why our meal was taking so long. Soon after he arrived with our meal and apologized saying the kitchen was backed up even though the place was not even close to full capacity. I was immediately disappointed by the size of my Rib eye after the extra long wait but I was hungry so I proceeded. First I tried the caramelized onion which was so bad I to remove it from my mouth. Next I tried the steak it was horrendous. My wife had ordered the chicken with rice and asparagus. The chicken was extremely greasy and the rice was tasteless. Neither of us has ever refused to eat food served to us until tonight. We asked the waitress for the check which the manager brought to our table. He had discounted the bill down to just the salads which was still too much. We did pay however and left to write this. Please save yourself the time and the money and do not eat there. Pros: Parking Cons: service, food more

Sub-par Steakhouse 8/1/2008

My husband and I were looking forward to trying this place as we just moved to the suburbs and were interested in finding a decent steakhouse nearby. The atmosphere of this place is very nice. Classy and fun. However, the food was a HUGE disappointment. The food was came out cold and one plate had to be sent back. Each meal was bland and flavorless. Even dessert was just plain aweful. The wait staff was friendly but inattentive. Unfortunately, we will never go back to this place. Such a disappointment. more

Best bar in metro west 5/22/2008

Looking for a great place to unwind after work in the Metro West area? Visit Metro 9 Steakhouse on Route 9. Before you sit down for your meal make sure that you stop by the bar for a cocktail and visit Joe, Metro West's favorite bartender. Joe and his bar team are extremely personable, accommodating and treat their customers like guests in their home. If you are looking for a real life Sam Malone, look no further than Metro 9. Pros: Joe and the awesome bar team more

Worst meal I can remember 2/19/2008

My husband and I went to this steak house early on a Saturday night. We had a reservation and the place was almost empty when we arrived, but were seated at the rear of the dining room near the kitchen. Kitchen was so noisy we couldn't hear each other talk. All through the evening large buckets of ice and other supplies were ferried past our table from the kitchen to the bar area. I felt like I was dining in a warehouse. more

ok place 2/7/2008

Not a bad place- Convenient to many areas and across from the mall- a nice place off the beaten track to get a steak more

Great Great Great 1/17/2008

Went to this fairly new establishment for a nice steak dinner. Got much more than that!!! The steak came out cooked perfect, the decor was perfect, the drinks were top shelf perfect. If you want to go to a place and leave feeling full and completely satisfied and already take out your calendar to plan a return visit then you should try the METRO 9 steakhouse. I can already taste it!!! Pros: Ambience, service, taste Cons: Non that I can think of more

Nice Place, Poor Food! But not for long....... 12/19/2007

I went there on date for a special evening even though I used a gift card that was given to me from a friend and highly recommended this place. We were greeted promptly and seated in a booth on the bar side of the restaurant. This was our choice as the football game was on and I wanted to watch the nice plasma tv's. We ordered and the server was attentive but not very knowledgeable about the wine or the food. I ordered steak and it came out over cooked and warm at best. You expect a steak to still be sizzling when it comes out to you. The steak was cold, the veggies were even colder. Not happy. My dates meal was the same. It was as if they forgot to bring it out to us after it was ready. I was going to send it back but didn't want to look picky in front of my date. We were going to get dessert until we saw the table next to us got something and they were all complaining about it so we passed and got chocolate martini's instead. They were good but they should think about filling the glasses up. Pros: parking, plasma tv, Cons: price, food more

Not a good restaurant or value 9/20/2007

Went to try it hoping for a good local steakhouse, beautiful decor and thats it. Pros: Nice decor looks like a city top shelf steakhouse Cons: Dont judge a book by it's cover the food/service and quality stink!! more

Pay no attention to the earlier reviews... 5/5/2007

This was our first time to Metro 9, and we had a great experience from start to finish. Seating was prompt, and service was friendly and attentive. You must try the blueberry martini -- it's like drinking a crisp blueberry pie! Pros: Steaks, service, price, parking Cons: dessert choices more

Well managed, great staff, great food 4/14/2007

We happen to frequently dine at Metro 9 SteakHouse. As for the place being poorly managed (Summer56), I feel that you are absolutly wrong! Your review was a tad bit harsh for someone that must know his steaks. Sounds to me like someone was jealous that someone else got the bigger piece of meat! If you are such a pro and know your steaks, then you would know that a rib eye has various cuts of meat that are inconsistent to one another. They must cook over 200 steaks a night. Do you think they hand pick to make sure that tables are consistent and get the same cuts?! Probably not! I'm a chef and I know. I would have done the same thing if you dined at my restaurant. The staff and management are very knowledgeable and professional. I'm sure you didn't want to hear that you were WRONG! But it seems as if you were. That is the reason for your nasty review I'm sure. I have seen it before! Where else do you go where the staff is on top of things. Would you have rathered your situation not be taken care of? Like I stated before, we frequent the place and the management is around and about making table visits, talking to guests, handling situations in a timely manner. It's rare to find places like this where management is present rather than hiding in the back or in the office. We have a great experience each time we go. It's finally nice to have a great restaurant that is hip, trendy, and average priced around this area. Metro 9 is a great place. Don't let peoples bad reviews stop you from going. Maybe they should be the ones that shouldn't dine out! more

Disappointing and poorly managed 4/7/2007

What a mediocre restaurant experience last night 4/6/07. starting with the seafood sampler for 3 appetizer: Lump crab 'smeared' across the ice instead of mounded, and reeking of ammonia (means NOT FRESH), to the 'scant' portions, and the ridiculous presentation on a rickety raised wire platform that puts the contents just 'above eye level' of the patron, so you can't see or serve what's on it--a 'dopey' version of 'tower of seafood' . Pros: parking, Cons: plating, quality, response, prepackaged meat more

Steak and Service outside Boston 1/18/2007

As someone who frequents The Capitol Grille, Abe and Louies, and other great steak houses in tBoston I was pleasently surprised with Metro 9. In an area over run with chain resturaunts Metro 9 is unique and provides the attention to detail that an original resturaunt thrives on. We did not have reservations, which Is the norm for us since we like to enjoy a drink or two at the bar before eating. The martini list was impressive, my wife enjoying the Pomegranate martini, and I enjoyed the Metro 9 manhattan. The bar atmosphere was enjoyable, many interesting people to meet and talk with. The bar staff was more attentive than I am used to at a steakhouse bar. We where soon seated for dinner. We had the calamari for an app, it was lightly battered and not chewy, par for the course. The menu included a thick cut sirloin, which was something I had never had at the other steak houses, so I ordered that along with the lobster macaroni for a side. The sirloin came out about 2.5-3 inches thick the way you would expect a filet. I enjoy my meat on the rare side and it was cooked perfectly. In speaking with our waiter I found out that they have the high temp ovens that sear the outside and keep the juices in. It showed, nothing against sirloin, but this one tasted like a higher grade steak. The macaroni was excellent, although I have to confess my wife commandeered most of it. I am not a desert person, however my wife raved about hers ( sorry dont remember what it was) while I enjoyed my port. Our waiter was very proffesional and informative and never to far to fill a need. Overall, I enjoyed the food and drinks very much. The look of the resturaunt is great, it needs a couple small finishing touches, but you have to look for them. The service was excellent, all the way around. I really think Metro 9 will save me in two ways, 1) from driving into the city to get a good steak, and 2) saving me some money off the cost of the places in the city. more

Fails to meet expectations 1/13/2007

I really wanted to like it. The area could certainly use a good steakhouse. However, the restaurant failed on so many accounts on my first trip there, that I'm compelled to write my first online review ever. more

Quintessential steak house 1/2/2007

Really enjoyed our dinner here and will definitely be back. Our party of six was seated right at the time we had reserved (make reservations!) and the service was stellar. Blue cheese olive martini - love, love, love. Caesar salad - marry me. One steak was overcooked and was replaced promptly when we pointed it out. Aside from that, my only complaint is they need one of those chocolate desserts with the molten center. The variety of gourmet salts was a nice touch. Really, really loved the steak. Chopped salad looked great. Loved the atmosphere. Had a great bottle of wine - Freemark Abby (sp)? As for the guy lamenting the wine cellar with the ""bottles standing up"" if he'd read the sign they had put up it clearly said they were waiting for their shelving to arrive. The place is new, after all. Great spot. I've decided to make this my Valentine's Day spot for the lucky lady in my life (or lucky buddy if she cancels). Pros: Steak, Wine, Atmosphere Cons: Want more chocolate desserts! more

New steakhouse gives capitol grille a run for their money! 12/29/2006

We went to Metro 9 steakhouse Saturday night for my wife's birthday. It was highly recommend by a college of mine, so we decided to check it out. We arrived there around 6 PM, without a reservation, and the restaurant was already busy. They open at 5 PM. We had a drink at the bar first. The bar staff was very friendly. I did not catch the bartenders name, she had very short blond hair... a very friendly girl, who made a great martini. We were seated in a very comfortable booth against the wall. Our server immediately greeted us, and introduced herself as Michelle. She took a few minutes to explain the new restaurant, and gave us a lot of detail about the great menu. We had a few questions, and she was able to answer them without hesitation. We opted for a bottle of wine, on her recommendation, and were very pleased with shiraz blend we agreed on. Being a steakhouse, we decided that meat was the way to go. The restaurant quickly filled up around us, as the wait staff was buzzing around. Before our steaks arrived, we were provided with steak knifes, and a unique collection of sea salts. Our water glasses, as well as wine were never empty, as our waitress was very attentive, and engaged in some great conversation with us. When dinner arrived she made sure our steaks were cooked to our liking, and they were cooked to perfection. We all agreed our favorite salt was the red Hawaiian sea salt. We would of loved to try the great desserts we saw on the menu, but our stomachs were full and satisfied with our meals. For anyone looking for a great meal, and even greater service, I recommend Metro 9. We plan to come back very soon, and look forward to trying some of the different specialty dishes!! Great work Metro 9, Framingham was in need of some fine dining!!! Pros: great food Cons: parking more

All sizzle, no steak 12/27/2006

Metro 9 attempts to be an ""upscale"" steak house but falls short. more

Best food, service, and atmosphere 12/19/2006

They opened last Wednesday so you should get in while it is still new and not as crowded as it may get. This place was wonderful the sirloin was cooked to perfection with a lot of flavor. Service was great the the waitress definately knew the wines and the menu. Pros: steak and chicken, fireplace seating, service more
