Walking past baja fresh, panda express and coldstones, I began to wonder if our shabu shabu destination was going to be another fast-food suburban substitute for real food. But once I made it through the desert of fast-food, I arrived at an unexpected oasis. Right away, the decor sets the restaurant apart from its neighbors. But more importantly is the great shabu-shabu; the fresh beef was cut and trimmed delicately, the sauces were homemade and distinctive. The somewhat tentative manner of the staff is more than made up for by the thoughtful attentiveness of the owner who seems to genuinely take pleasure in making certain you enjoy your meal.
