WANNABEE, LOW RENT, NO LONGER WORTH IT 11/10/2006

I live in the area - unfortunately, the old reputation of this once cool place attracted some clients to want a reservation there, but I'll definitely turn us to other restaurants in the future. The girl at the front was full of attitude, unable to give us a table anywhere near what we'd asked for, which is fine, but she was pretty nasty and dismissive about it. Then the servers served the food like they were at a diner - one server actually served the crispy fish so abruptly that the entree tipped over and sloshed across the plate (nice presentation for a $40 entree). After the meal, we wanted to have a drink at Skybar, but of course were told that the restaurant and the bar were separate, but Kevin the rope guy was aggressively rude about it in front of our guests. I think to sum it up, the staff has forgotten that the guests are spending on one experience what easily equals their take-home salary. They're jaded and callous in their approach, in a city that now has many other options that are far more in mode and interesting at present. All in all, I'll pass on any future experiences at the Mondrian, and am forwarding this e-mail to my friends at the Washington Post, the New York Times and the San Francisco Chronicle. I'm sure the owners of the venues won't care, but at least I'll be able to steer others from a similar experience. \r Pros: FOOD DECENT Cons: SERVICE SLOPPY, FRONT DESK CALLOUS, FAR TOO MUCH ATTITUDE FOR SUCH A HAS-BEEN VENUE more
