I took my cat in to PAPT, because he wouldn't eat his food. I mentioned that I was using a new shampoo on him and that an allergy may be causing the loss of appetite, but that I just wanted to be sure. The "vet" quickly dismissed this as an option. My cat was X-rayed (he was, of course, fine) and he prescribed some medicine. I should have stuck by my guns and refused the medicine - have you ever tried to give a cat a pill...even in those little treats, it's ridiculous. When I got my cat home, I washed him without the shampoo and he had his appetite back in a little over a day. I shared this experience with some fellow pet-lovers, and they were shocked that he so quickly dismissed the possibility of a shampoo allergy. I would prefer a vet who was actually concerned about my pet's health and not just about selling me "services," "food" and "medications."
