Read the 11/05 LA Times review and tried this place out. We sat quite comfortably at the bar (without reservations). The food was excellent and the head chef came over to talk to us, and even gave us a smoked salmon appetizer on the house. We ordered two other appetizers (pate and mushroom), two entrees (halibut special and beef bourguignon), a dessert (pear tart) and a decaf. The service was attentive and friendly and rather quick compared to most French restaurants (notably slower than Americans would like), but did not rush us out at all. Only drawback, if it can be considered so, the location is in a strip mall that is less than 'quaint' but as the LA Times pointed out, the lower rent etc reflects in the very reasonable prices for the food. The maitre'd recommends reservations at least a few days in advance.
