I was blown away to find a ski area type of store in LA, complete with rental department w/ brand new, high end equipment and a seperate repair shop. The employees were freindly not pushy, equipment was better than I had ever seen, and the clothing was unique with a better selection than anyplace I had been in mammoth or Tahoe. You are nuts to go to Sport Chalet and REI...this place feels like a ski resort and the people there are totally stoked on skiing and making sure you are perfectly matched to your equipment. They even gave me a 100% guarantee on my skis and boots....
