Perhaps a tour of the House of Seven Gables is worth doing if a) you've read the book; b) you have a good tour guide; c) you don't have better things to do with your money. The tour guide we had was not at all interesting, nor did he seem interested in telling the group much about the house, Hawthorne, or the book. The house is not self-explanatory, so unless you've read the book and can use your imagination, or you're positive you have a good tour guide, or you know a lot about period architecture and furnishings, don't waste your money.
Pros: Free parking
Cons: , Expensive
