Alegria on Sunset is one of the best home cooked, health conscious Mexican Restaurant that we've had the pleasure to dine at. Where else are the welcoming chips and salsa home made? Using canola oil, and creating a home made salsa with lots of cilantro, garlic and other spices - you know that this is a place that prepares meals for you much like meals prepared in someone's home, cooked with love and care. The mole, pumpkin seed is my favorite, is consistently surprising in it's subtle yet complex flavors. The carnitas, and I am kosher, make me break the law at times as the meat is so flavorful that it makes me think of kalua pig back home in Hawaii, the real stuff for kamaianas (locals). This is a real find for anyone from novice to the L.A. scene or gourmand.
Keep it up, Nadine, Denise and Jackie!
