Though City tavern has lovely historic architecture and a great location, it is not a food destination by any means. The theme-park atmosphere (waiters in colonial costumes) and the amateurish service do not justify the high prices. We had to ask for bread, we had to ask for knives, the wine we ordered was slightly different from the wine list without any mention, etc. The mealy, overly cold tomato salad and soggy turkey pot pie crust were mediocre at best. And our server never thanked us even though we remained pleasant and polite and left a normal tip.
Cons: Too expensive, too cutesy, lame food
