La Cabanita is without a doubt the best mexican restaurant in LA! It's a little hard to find, but worth the look. They've expanded now so the wait isn't as bad as it used to be...and the food is AWESOME. Try the Chiles a la Cabanita, poblano peppers stuffed with a mixture of chicken, ground yellow raisins, and other yummy stuff. On cold days the Caldo de Pollo is the best chicken soup around. And their Mole sauce is amazing. Once you try their flaky homemade chips you'll be disappointed by all the other restaurant's store bought versions!
Pros: Amazing food, good value, broad, original menu
Cons: sometimes a wait, street parking
