Buyer Beware 1/22/2015

Buyer Beware! F for Price: We hired Spiess to clean the carpets and ducts. During the initial call, the company agreed to match an Angie's List deal offered by a competitor. When the service was complete, the cost was more than double the quote. They performed the service without receiving confirmation that we were willing to pay additional money, and then demanded full payment before leaving the premises. I want to make it very clear that at no time did we agree to additional charges, and we were not presented with an updated invoice prior to the service being completed. After the service was complete, the service tech crossed off numbers on the invoice, doubled the cost, and demanded payment. C for Quality: The carpets turned out fine. However, the crew left dust and debris on the laminate and tile floors throughout the main level from the duct cleaning. They also did not reinstall all of the vent covers and several of the vent covers were not attached completely. F for Responsiveness: My husband called the office that day and left a message. No one from the office returned his call. I called 6 days after my husband called and spoke with the secretary. She said the owner would call me back Friday afternoon. He never called. I emailed the office and was told that the owner would call me the following Wednesday. He never called. I emailed Wednesday evening and did not receive a response, so I called on late Thursday morning. The secretary told me the owner would call me later in the day. Instead I received an email from the owner. F for Professionalism: Quite frankly the use of red bold text, underlining text, and calling my husband a liar was unprofessional. We will not be doing business with Spiess again, because the company employs bait and switch pricing tactics. more
