Buyer Beware 5/15/2013

Ted Russell Nissan, Knoxville TN. BUYER BEWARE. Before you purchase anything from these people, please take a moment to read about our experience. We recently purchased a vehicle from Ted Russell Nissan in Knoxville, Tennessee. The following week there was a call from the finance person. They had given my husband the wrong contract. The person said she was new and had pulled out a contract they no longer use. Being a former Realtor and familiar with contracts this seemed odd and unnecessary. I even questioned the purpose of needing a new contract and why we weren’t amending the original contract; however, my husband went in and signed this new contract careful to make sure they hadn’t changed any of the terms. (This *new* contract was dated, not for the day he actually signed the contract by the way, but the date was from the prior week.) Shortly after leaving the dealership, the same person from the finance office called again. She said, “We are sorry Mr. ______, but we just realized we made another mistake on the contract. The amount was too low. You actually need to pay us more money. You need to come in so that we can redo the contract.” *our jaws drop in disbelief*. I believe the term for this is Bait and Switch. Suddenly, we felt like we needed to go and scrub ourselves down to remove the sleazy residue from our skin. Had we stumbled into a shady dealership by mistake, you know the kind; the ones that prey on people they feel are gullible or financially vulnerable? No…this was an official Nissan Dealership with a shiny, new, reputable looking building. Let me add that in the past 10 years we have purchased 4 new Nissans. We have always been loyal to the brand. My husband’s first car was a red Nissan Sentra. How ironic that the vehicle in question is a RED, 2013 Nissan Sentra. And it is going to be our last. more
