Dr. Paul Steingard seemed like a very knowledgable and caring doctor and I was a patient for years. But he didn't listen to me when I told him that I thought the new cholesterol medication was causing me to break out all over. He dismissed what I had said. The problem persisted and when I repeated that I thought the acne was a side effect of the medication, he told me that my skin was breaking out because of diabetes. After several months of suffering with acne in places I had never had acne before (use your imagination), I quit taking the medicine. The acne cleared up almost right away and within two weeks was almost gone. And it hasn't come back. But scars and discoloration remain. I don't think there was any malice involved. He just didn't listen to what I to say. But what is kind of scary is that I am seeing a new doctor and he has never put me on cholesterol medication because my cholesterol has always been in the optimal range.
