I made the choice of not buying a pup from this breeder but instead one of the older dogs used to beed puppies. He was not in good shape when I had taken him to the vet. He was infested with fleas and had a terrible ear infection that had made his ear canal swell. His teeth were absolutley terrible that he would drop food out of his mouth from the pain of chewing. He acted as a pup being taken home for the first time though he was at this stage a senior. He had open sores on his legs from pacing in his kennel all day and rubbing up against the fence. Which I observed while watching him in his kennel for 10 min. I am not a breeder hater. I actually purchased a beagle pup from a hunter who's dog happened to have pups. But please before you buy a pup make sure to do a thorough inspection of the parents. Make sure you know what a "healthy parent" looks, smells, and acts like. Yes I said smell. Smelly ears and terrible breath usually means that there is some kind of infection brewing. Older dogs should be socialized too. Not just with humans but the outside enviroment. Take the parents for a walk outside of the facility and see how they react; are they skiddish hesitant? Confining a dog to one place it's whole life so that it never knows anyhting but a kennel is cruel. There is sooo much to look at when you ask to see the parents of a dog. Not just how they look superficially and how their tail wags when they see you at the kennel. It should actually be like an indirect interview for the breeder. You are not looking for how your pup turns out your checking on how well the breeder takes care of the dogs they have. The better care the dogs receive the better off the pup will be when it's born. The more dogs the breeder has to take care of the more the breeder will have to delineate from this standard. I made a poor choice of giving this place my money. But I was not going to let this poor creature suffer. Please ADOPT! more
