"Yesterday morning my beloved chicken injured her toe badly and was bleeding profusely. I took her immediately to the vet clinic nearest my house but they don't treat chickens and, as they put it, they are ""not an emergency clinic"". I raced to Abbey and as luck would have it the doctor on duty, David Bennett, was a specialist in birds and exotic animals. He treated my chicken with care and sensitivity, as did his wonderful vet tech whose name unfortunately I didn't catch. My pet is home now with a pink bandage on her amputated toe, which Dr. Bennett tried to save but it was too damaged. He sent her home with pain med, antibiotic, and an Elizabethan collar in case she tries to peck at her foot. I am grateful to Abbey and Dr. Bennett for a happy ending to a traumatic morning."
