Best

I've been going to Zolos for several months and I really love it. I think that all restaurants have their bad days/bad servers, but people should let the owner or manager know in...

Worst

Editorial review from Citysearch 2/3/2013

On our way to the Franklin Theater, we past an Italian Restaurant on 5th Ave. We wanted to eat before the show so we thought we would give this one a try. Well, to our surprise we made the right choice. The food was fantastic, the service great. The entire staff was warm and friendly, made us feel very welcomed. We sat in their quaint little bar in the corner and had the best time. We will definitly go back again and again.\r Well done ZOLO'S!!! more

Great Food and Good Time 10/20/2011

My wife and I held the rehearsal dinner for our son's wedding at Zolo's last month with about 50 guests attending. The food was very good, plentiful and beautifully served. The Holmes family were easy to work with and eager to make the event a pleasant experience. It was truly one of the highlights of the weekends activities. I look forward to traveling back to Franklin and enjoying another meal at Zolo's! more

Worst Service Ever!!! 12/3/2010

Don't go there on a Friday night because the service is so bad. They brought our food out and my order was wrong. I had to wait over 25 minutes just for spaghetti instead of penne pasta while watching everyone else get served and watch the cook strain spaghetti. How difficult is it to strain spaghetti? The italian sausage tasted undercooked as well. My friend's food became cold while waiting for mine to come out. more

Absolutely the best Italian Food in Nashville! 10/6/2009

I've been to all the Itailian restaurants in the Nashville area including Maggiano's, Masiosas, and Amerigo, and i think Zolo's is the best of them all. I ordered the Zolo's Trio with Spinach and Cheese Ravioli, Sausage, Meatball and Melted Provolone and it was fantastic. The marinara sauce is by far the best around and beats all of the franchise restaurants sauces hands down. I come from an Itailian family and you can tell it is definately a homemade red sauce recipe. My wife had Chicken Marsala and it was the best marsala wine sauce we've ever had anywhere. They also had about the best Ceasar Salad I ever had (they said the dressing was homemade). It was a little bit pricey, but no different than any other place in the Franklin Area. Overall we thought it was a great place to go with good atmosphere and outstanding food. Pros: Incredible Sauces! Cons: need more seating inside, only three outside tables more

Not what we had hoped for in service 3/17/2009

We dined on 3/13 with another couple. The service was less than desirable. The server needed to go into another line of work. This goes to show that the prices on the menu do not always reflect quality of service. The food was really good though so it did make us feel somewhat better about the experience. It always frustrates me to go to a nice place and get poor service. We may or may not go back and if we do and get the same server we will request to be moved to a table out of her station. Pros: nice atmosphere, great location, good food Cons: poor service! more

I just LOVED this place 2/21/2009

Very quaint. Reasonably priced. Superb food! The server was extremely helpful in suggesting just the right wine to accompany our dinner. Pros: location, service, prices more

Zolo's is up and down 1/5/2009

Food is overall good...but you may get something prepared one way and then when you return it may be prepared a different way. Prices vary monthly. I don't know why owners change menu all the time. It is not something you can plan on, but if you are in Franklin, and want pretty good italian food it is the place to try. more

Worst Fine Dining Experience Ever! 11/29/2008

I went here for my birthday with my boyfriend. I was hopeful about it because this place has a nice-looking menu. The host is polite and punctual, and I saw him helping out...refilling water glasses and stuff. Our server was pathetic. He asked us if we wanted any wine, which we did not. He got a rude look on his face as if we were cheap or unsophisticated. He waslked away and didn't ask if we wanted any coke or tea or anything, so we actually drank water with our meal. The apetizer of fried artichoke was ok. For the main course, my boyfriend ordered a sausage and pasta plate. This is an Italian restaurant, and the noodles were soggy and runny. The marinara sauce was bland and gross. The dish reminded us of spaghettios. I ordered a filet, blue cheese and pasta dish. From the second they set it down on the table, I couldn't stop gagging. It smelled funky. I thought maybe I was imagining it, so i took a bite. The meat had expired, and I mean expired! My boyfriend took a tiny bite, and he agreed. Since our server never checked on us afrer the food runner dropped off the plate, we had to signal him over to complain. His reply was ""Let me tell them you don't like it."" Ummm...I don't like it? It's spoiled! So the owner comes out and says ""I'm sorry you don't like your food."" Way to not accept fault! He tried to tell us that funky taste was the blue cheese. My boyfriend quickly told him, ""She eats blue cheese all the time. And I tried that too. It's spoiled."" He tries to tell us that he tasted ithe meat, it's ok and he doesn't want us ""to go around town telling people Zolo's serves spoiled meat."" So...he ends up comping the meal, and we are rushed out of there. He is extremely polite, and at this point we know that he knows it was spoiled It was all very akward. The server never came back, and I don't even know why we left him a tip. We felt sick all night, and I will never go back here. How insulting that he tried to tell me that expired meat tastes like blue cheese! Pros: Nice server, cute restaurant. Cons: Bad service, bland marinara sauce, overcooked pasta, spolied meat. more

My job is my life, and eating is my job. My passion is reviewing restaurants. 9/24/2008

I will not bore. Horrible. Bland. Worst service ever. E-V-E-R. My date's food was cold. C-O-L-D. When asked to heat it, it was returned cold (still). She had three bites (total) and could not eat any more. No offer to comp the meal, just a silly, little coupon for ""when"" we return, not ""if"". Not a chance. Not for me, nor the swelling number of people that I share my opinion with both socially and editorially. The kicker? I tipped low. A low 10%, which was well more than our server deserved. What happened? As we drove home, my cell phone rang. It was the server from Zolo's stating, ""I'm the server that you just stiffed. I just called to let you know that we do not need your business in the future."" No? Well you certainly need my recommendation. Read about it in the paper soon... Pros: Located in a nice part of Middle TN Cons: The server. The cold food. more

Best Authentic Italian!!!!!! 9/1/2007

SO I have been to Palzolo's twice both times were absolutely amazing!!! The atmosphere was intimate and comfortable. The food was delicious. I am not a fan of chili but the Italian chili was superb. The service was great and one of the owners, Adam came to our table personally to welcome us, check how everything was and thank us for coming. Thats usually something you get if there is a problem. Its refreshing to be at a restaurant and have a good experince and still have a manager/owner approach out of sincere gratitude. I was througholy impressed. I totally recommend going for a special occasion or a semi formal night out. I loved everything so much that I am planning on going for my anniversary!! Even with a large party we had great service and delicious food. Try it sometime, you will be impressed. If my review has swayed you to go, ask for the owner Adam and tell him you read this review from the Greeks and he will know! =) Pros: What wasn't great! Food, wine, ambience, experience everyhing was way above par! Cons: parking can be difficult in down town franklin but its worth the walk! more
