Best salon in northern NJ, hands down. Full service (including wine!), professional, glamorous yet comfortable. Donnie is hilarious and has been helping me grow out my hair for the first time. I said make me look like a super model and he has. Alyson has been gradually adding some red into my brunette hair, I want low-maintenance color and she gets that. She hasn't pushed for anything more than I can realistically maintain without coming into the salon every 6 weeks. I can go every 3 months between appointments, that's how well the cut and color hold up. I've found my salon home. Donnie haircut $100, Alyson single-process $80. Worth every penny. more

Christine, the owner, gave my hair a great cut. I really loved it and it lasted a long time. I got blonde highlights from Zoe and they looked horrible. The foils weren't close to my roots I guess because I left looking like it was already time for me to come back. In addition, my hair was very damaged in the process. I have fine hair and expressed that to her, however, she only had the foils in for a very short time so I think she used something very strong as my hair took almost 9 months before it was healthy again. In addition, the color was brassy and didn't blend well with my natural color. I really wish I hadn't gone there, although the cut was great, the color was a disaster for me. more

I have been searching for a hair salon that can accommodate me for YEARS. From the moment I stepped into Zoku Salon, I felt like royalty. I was immediately greeted by the friendly receptionists and my stylist's assistant offering me a beverage of my choice. My stylist was Christine. I had NO idea what I needed or was even looking for. Christine was able to simply look at my hair and create a masterpiece! I have never had a BETTER haircut! It's now been about 6 weeks since my cut with her and my hair has grown in beautifully. While I was visiting Christine, I hadn't planned on getting color done, but after seeing another client's highlights that day--I wanted to experiment! As I came in on a Saturday, it was extremely busy but Zoe was able to squeeze me into her book and give me a few highlights to frame my face. My highlights were so natural...I looked as though I had been out in the sun enjoying the day. I couldn't be more happy from my experience and I will be sure to come back on several more occasions! Several complaints. All was going well, but when something went wrong on their part, I was made to feel as though it was my fault- they took NONE of the blame. If they had at least shared the blame with me, I might be returning -- in spite of the expensive products pushed, the miscommunication of stylists, and constant videos of fashion shows of totally unrealistic models. I left NY to get away from all that ridiculousness! If you get a stylist who is kind, don't be so sure it is genuine. Pros: none Cons: loud impersonal NYC atmosphere more

I have been going to the Zoku team for the last 3 years, and was so excited when they opened their salon in Summit, NJ. The facility is clean, hip, and relaxing. I've recently been getting my hair colored by Isak who was for many years Zoe's assistant, and what else can I say about Isak except, I LOVE HIM. I made the mistake last summer of going to two other well known salons in NYC where I was not at all happy with my results. SO i knew it was time to fly back to the nest, I booked with Isak and Christine, and couldnt be more satisified. I am a blonde, which is difficult to get right, but, with Isak it NEVER fails-colored to perfection. He creates a look that is natural, bright, and and even, perfectly matching the color to my skin tone. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone! You won't be disappointed! Which ever stylest you choose to see at ZOKU, will produce a beautiful outcome. I have now seen Zoe, Christine and Irene, and have yet to have an unpleasant experience. They all have a gift for individually fitting your style, understanding your hairtype and make you feel like a rockstar. I am so thankful to be a client at ZOKU, I'll never go anywhere else. After countless unhappy experiences with some of the best salons in NYC, I now commute out to their salon in Summit from NYC when I want to get my hair done right. Zoe does a phenomenal job with color, and Christine is great with everything from a simple trim to hair extensions. Very highly recommended. Pros: Great staff, service, and skill. Cons: None. more
