I'm all about sushi spots with a good vibe and with this place, the name definitely says it all. Took my sister here for her birthday and we had a great time. Friendly waiters and amazing rolls. It can be a hit or miss with sushi and luckily this was a home run! more

Great chef's table 2/10/2008

We love sushi and will drive long distances to find a good place. Driving from Fort Worth to Dallas to experience the chef's table at Zen Sushi was one of the best meals we had in a long time. We made reservations after reading a review in the Dallas Morning News. The $100 per person tasting menu seemed like a lot, but it was well worth it. The Japanese Red Snapper done in a ceviche was amazing. Each course got better and better. Loved chef Michelle's take on surf and turf. Lobster tail with a mayo fish egg dipping sauce, beef just seared lightly and served like sushi nigiri! A cool mushroom dish (my husband ate the entire thing, and he hates mushrooms!) and a few speciality rolls rounded out the meal. The desserts were good, but not necessary for us, don't get me wrong, we just about licked the plate, but I'll take some good tuna over chocolate any day. Not only was the food outstanding, it was a great time speaking with the chef througout the meal. We left feeling full and completely happy and checking our schedules to see when we could come back. While I'm sure the regular menu is great, the chef's table has spoiled us. I think that's the way to go to really see what the place is all about. Pros: service, food Cons: parking more

Best sushi in Dallas! 10/15/2007

My dining experience at Zen Sushi- PHENOMENAL! I am a huge sushi fan and try to eat it as many times a week as possible. Originally from Oklahoma, I had heard about Zen from a friend and was told that it was mandatory that I try it out. This place is the new hot spot for great sushi, and you can count on seeing me there on the weekends. It is located in the center of the up and coming Bishop Arts District (trendy and charming). When I walked in the doors I instantly knew that I would be in for a treat. The decor of the building is very chic with soothing green walls, bamboo paneled ceilings and tables, live orchids along the back wall, and a gorgeous orange/gold panel centering the back of the restaturant. I sat at the sushi bar (a lot of seating- very ideal) to get the full experience. Pros: GREAT SUSHI, not too expensive, grat service and atmosphere Cons: none so far! more
