Zan's Refuse Svc

Extremely poor customer service. Received bills in excess of what I was quoted when I signed up. Owner very rude and unhelpful on the phone. They are cheap, but this is definitely one case where you get what you pay for. We have had much better experience with the many other options available for trash collection. more

I do not generally leave reviews about company's, but this company deserved to be noticed, and I hope my review helps anyone searching for a contractor in this field. I hired this contractor, and I am extremely please with the quality of work I received. The workers were very professional and helpful in any questions or concerns I may have had during construction. Its hard to find a good contractor these days, seems like everyone is out to come up on top, even at the expense of others, but not this company. I would highly recommend them!! Should I ever need your service again, I will not hesitate to employ you and your staff. I believe in word of mouth, and I will be sure to spread the word about your company. I am very satisfied with the caliber of work and products used with this contractor. These guys are top-notch!! I had the nicest, most helpful person answering the phone, so from the beginning the experience started off great!! They were very courteous and a pleasure to deal with. You have a customer for life, and I will gladly spread the word. I appreciate good service and thank you for providing me a pleasant experience. You should be proud to have such professionals in your employ. Response was quick, and the work was complete in the time frame they said it would be and what was greatly appreciated was we got a follow-up call a week after the work was done to make sure we were satisfied. Now that's customer service!! I had a pleasant and professional experience with this company and I was highly satisfied from start to finish. First off, when hiring any company to come into your home or business it is a serious matter. You want to make sure your picking the right contractor. I have always hired contractors that I had recommended to me either by word of mouth through a friend or by going online to research the company. I have researched this company and hear GREAT things about them. Which is why I hired them. I have dealt directly with the owner, Mr. Sanders and he made sure that my experience was pleasant and went as smooth as possible. Every question I had got answered thoroughly, if I didn?t understand, it was explained to me. As with all construction, it?s messy!! But I never had to come behind them and do a thing, so every time they left it was as if they were never there, which made it much easier on me. This company was dedicated to making sure the work was quality, and completed in a timely matter. I would have to say without a doubt that if you?re looking to hire a contractor and not just a handy-man, this is your company. They were very professional and fair in quoting me my estimate. I give them an all around AAAAA++++++ and I would definitely hire them again, should I ever need their services...Thanks!! more

These guys came in on a bid that was a good price on the work that they did. They stayed within budget and as the work was being done they were very clear step by step on the progress. I especially liked the fact of how they stayed very informative on anything that I did not understand and even offered suggestions at no additional cost. Clean up was great. I know the process of work can be messy but you could not tell they were there. Great Job! more

Seriously the worst customer service ever!!!! I dont care about that support the small fish...If you run a business that offers a service then you MUST return phone calls! Dont go after the ""good"" deal because you wont be happy! more

Every time I call Zan's I get the same friendly voice. He is helpful and courteous but also very busy. I think the same people that run the office must also provide service. more

I won't even give this company one star, but I have to!! This is the worst service I have ever used! I recently moved to a new house so I called Zan's and they seemed great over the phone, so I hired them to pick up my trash. Well our first trash day came and went...and 4 days later my trash was STILL sitting on the side of the road. So i call to ask if I made a mistake as to which day they were supposed to pick up. No one bothered calling me back they just picked up my trash after sitting on the curb for four days. Week two comes and goes...again no one shows up! So we call and no one answers or calls back until two days later when they promised our trash would be picked up first thing the following morning. Again, a NO SHOW! So we call again and the manager proceeds to tell us that the driver said specifically that he came and got our trash however while I was on the phone i was looking out my window at the trash that has now been sitting on the curb for 5 days! So then we ask to cancel our service and the guy was a jerk! He came to our house and dumped the trash from the can out on the street and left! SOOOO unprofessional I would never used or recommend to ANYONE!! Pros: nothing Cons: everything! more

I would like to extend my condolences to the Zanders family on their recent loss. I have been a customer of Zan's Refuse for the past 4 years. I live in the southside (salisbury) area of Richmond and have never experienced any serious problems. An occassional late day of service or missed phone call, but nothing glaring. Mr. Zanders has always been friendly and courteous in addressing my concerns and his workers maintain that same attitude- a great neighborhood business for the Richmond metro area. We moved to a new neighborhood and the previous owners of the house was using Zan?s and still had their garbage outside. I called Zan?s to let them know that their bin was still there along with garbage in case the previous owners didn?t notify them. I also wanted to see how much they charged since we haven?t picked a trash service yet. I left a short but detailed message with our address the first time and when I was out, I received a message from a gentleman with Zan?s asking me to call a certain number. When I called he told me that they weren?t sure that they even service our area. Duh, how did their bin get there? I had to pretty much give him directions as to how to get to our neighborhood and once he realized where we lived, he said someone would come and get the can. Almost a week later I called again and spoke to the same gentleman and I told him that I called last week regarding trash that was still outside and he rudely interrupted, ?where do you live, I don?t even know where you live,? before I could even give him the address on my own. When I told him, he said, ?oh, yeah, I remember you calling, yeah, someone is going to pick the bin up.? He got off the phone without even telling me what day it was going to be collected. Both times he kept asking and seemed more concerned about the bin which is understandable, but I reminded him there was garbage outside as well and I did not want it sitting outside for too long. Well another week has passed and no one has showed up yet. We picked another company to serve us, obviously, and I?m glad we did. Zan?s is not only incompetent at collecting garbage, but they can?t even pick up one of their bins. They won?t ever have to worry about me calling them again for anything! We moved to Richmond this year and decided to give the smaller, ""mom and pop"" shop refuse service a try. Boy were we mistaken! First of all, the only day we could get service was a Friday which is horrible for going out of town. So we missed a few pick-ups because we weren't in town. Because we missed a few Fridays Zan's took it upon themselves to stop coming to pick up our trash! But aren't we a paying customer??? I then called a few times to remind them to pick it up with no call back even though the Zan's message stated explicitly that everyone gets a call back. Then on a Tuesday the Zan's truck mysteriously appeared to pick up the trash! My last straw was when I called to cancel the service and not only was told that it was my fault that the trash wasn't picked up because I forgot to put the can out but then was hung up on! I have never been treated like this by a business, especially one I was trying to support for being a smaller fish in a big pond. more
