Best crab meat in the area 8/5/2009

My wife and I frequently drive down from Stroudsburg because they have the best crab meat we have ever found. We get the cold lump crab with drawn butter for dipping. Pros: Great lump crab meat, no shell more

For the money we spent, Never again!!!! 1/2/2009

First of all, the New England Clam Chowder had so much rosemary in it, the taste was way off also had a brown tint to it. My wife and I ordered the broiled dinners, You have to be kidding me, they were way over cooked, small portions, and completely flavorless and way over priced!! The baked potato she ordered was black in the middle. The raw oysters had pieces of shell in them, the steamed clams where overcooked and not steamers at all, the chef needs to go to new england and see the difference between clams on a halfshell and steamers!!!!!! The best part of the night was gettting the check to leave, oh and actually paying over two hundred and fifty dollars for four of us to eat, what a joke!!! If your going to advertise as a five star restaruant and charge prices like that, heres a tip, fire the damn chef!!!!!! and get your portions and food fresh and up to par. Very big dissapointment, we will never be back!!!!! Pros: Parking Cons: Food, prices oh did i mention the food sucked, way overcooked and small portions. more

Not worth time or money 11/12/2006

This restaurant wasn't very good at all. Waitress kept talking about ""how crazy it is in there"" (the kitchen I guess) to excuse slow service. Waited a long time for drinks and food. My broiled seafood combo was so bland - just two shrimp, three scallops, some fish and some crabmeat in water - should have been lemon butter but had no flavor at all. Veg medley was frozen. I could have made better than this at home. The prices were far more than the quality of food warranted. Seafood is much better at the Stoned Crab. Pros: Seated right away Cons: everything else more

Most overrated restaurant of the month! 11/11/2006

Lousy service, mediocre food, ridiculous prices! We waited at least 15 minutes just to get our cocktails and have our orders taken. This place has zero ambiance, and serves its vegetable of the day (frozen) in coffee cups, if that gives you an idea!. Never again...$69 a couple without dessert and for less than acceptable food ! Cons: food is marginal, service is unbelievably slow and barely pleasant more

Frozen Veggies....Why????? 7/13/2006

I have a brother that is a chef at a 5 Star resturaunt and this is no such thing! A five star resturaunt would not use frozen vegatables and old baked potatoes that were so mushy they oozed water through the fork tines when attempting to 'fluff'. I will admit the crab was good but for the price I expected fresh vegetables and a freshly baked potato with my meal. Maybe the Chantilly Potatoes were good we don't know because they were not available the night we were there. If I were the chef in this kitchen I would make the chintilly potatos the standard side with all meals since baking the potatos fresh seems to be a challange. Pros: crab was good Cons: frozen vegetables as a side more

Highly recomended 5/15/2006

Youell's Oyster House is a top seafood restaurant. The atmosphere is casual, but sophisticated. The specialy of the house is Maryland jumbo lump crabmeat. Crabcakes (all lumps of crab without filler or additional seasonings), crabmeat imperial, crabmeat au gratin and jumbo lump crabmeat served with brown butter are favorites. Soft shell crabs are better than I have had anywhere. There are about 50 seafood items on the menu, and the chef's selections of seasonal fish (red snapper, swordfish, tuna, etc) are always expertly prepared in a variety of ways. Don't miss the crab bisque, the Chantilly potato (like a twice baked potato with cheeses and topped with bacon) or the homemade desserts (the lemon sponge pie is fantastic). Youell's has a decent selection of good quality wine by the bottle or glass, and the bartender makes a big selection of generous martinis. Oh, and the oysters! FRESH, FRESH, FRESH!!! Pros: fresh seafood, friendly service, nice atmosphere Cons: often busy, reservations sugested, on street parking more

head chef is a lier 4/30/2006

having dinner one night with wife and mother ( mother's B-day ) we waited a 55 min. for our dinners. When they arrived the crab imperial was dryed out, my wife's seafood combo in brown butter was realy in brown water and my mother's breaded fish was two frozed peices of fish. when we told the waiter she went back to tell the chef, she came out and said we could have a free desert. We asked to talk to the chef. when he arrived at the table he informed me that this was a 5-STAR resturant. I assured him it was not and then explained what was wrong with the food. we paid our bill of $98.00 and left the food on the table. I called the next day to let the owner know and he said he would talk to the chef and get back to me. nothing Pros: nice building, drinks are ok, friendly waiters Cons: food sucked, very expensive, poor manegment more
