Editorial review from Citysearch 8/15/2013

These people are nothing but scam artists looking for cash cows. Their wellness for the family facade is nothing but garbage in my opinion. Following my last adjustment there, I was in the worst shape of my life, had to cut back on the hours I work, which means I make significantly less money and pay for costly health coverage on top of my normal medical bills. If I had to do it all over again, I would have saved my thousands of dollars I spent at YFC and used that money toward massage and a vacation. Yes, I spent thousands of dollars over the course of 11 months. I have fibromyalgia, cancer and panic disorder. \r \r The adjustments seemed to help for about 6 months. I was instructed to be seen weekly for ""wellness care"". I started noticing that adjustments increased my pain and the number of out of the blue pulled muscles. In June, I woke up feeling like I had pulled a muscle. I called YFC because I had my weekly adjustment scheduled that day to inquire if it would potentially set off a fibromyalgia flare. I was told by Dr. Jessa that when she ""overdoes it"" when playing volleyball that adjustments make her feel better. She tried to sell me on using their fancy TENS unit but couldn't tell me why the TENS unit was so special. I use one every day and it is one of the best on the market, so I wasn't going to pay for what they call ""therapy"". I have a doctorate in biochemistry so I researched the TENS unit before investing. I went in for the adjustment, because I'd be charged $30 for a missed appointment, and I was told that my adjustment shouldn't cause me any pain, but there was something terribly off about the cervical spine adjustment and I felt it immediately. \r \r About 30 minutes following that adjustment, I was in level 9-10 pain and my typical localized pain had spread to most of my body. I had to miss work. I called YFC the next day and was told by Dr. Heather to visit my general practitioner. Of course they are not going to take responsibility for potentially causing a patient's nervous system to go into overdrive, which is what happened to me. \r \r I cancelled my monthly membership with YFC and when I spoke to Dr. Heather, she was sympathetic but the conversation quickly turned into a salesman scare tactic, which I found to be incredibly tacky and unprofessional. She said that I should get back on a wellness plan because the adjustments were helping me and it's so important to be adjusted given the chronic pain of fibromyalgia and my medical history. She wanted to know if I'd be interested in doing that anytime in the next few weeks. I did not want to argue with her on the phone as there was a family death the evening before and I had an important meeting that day, so I let her know she could call me in a month. \r \r Without the weekly adjustments, I am slowly feeling better. My body is surprisingly in alignment per both of my massage therapists. I have dumped the ""wellness care"" chiropractic money into massage therapy, particularly medical massage and NRT. \r \r I live a very healthy and clean lifestyle, I am not overweight and before all of this, I was high functioning considering my medical issues. I worked full time and exercised regularly. That last adjustment took that away from me. I feel stupid for ever believing that these people wanted to help me. \r \r The doctors at YFC either saw me as a cash cow or they are incompetent about treating patients with fibromyalgia and chronic pain. Either way, I don't want to be treated by these doctors again. I hesitated writing any reviews because the office is nice, the people are nice, but the business practices in my opinion are shady at best. Maybe my review will help others who are like me. I wish I had listened to my gut and avoided getting adjusted that day. I truly believe I'd be in a better place physically and mentally. \r \r Bottom line: Save the thousands of dollars and invest it elsewhere. more

Family Wellness 7/6/2011

We first started chiropractic care with Dr. Heather when our oldest son (who at the time was almost 2) had a repeat ear infection. It didn't make sense to us to try an antibiotic medication. After our initial consultation, Dr. Heather adjusted our son and talked to us about more natural ways to treat his ear infection. We saw very immediate results and have been back almost every month since! We now take both our boys (ages 3 and 16 months) in to get adjusted both when they show signs of an upcoming illness and to optimize their wellness when they are in good health. I am in my first trimester of my third pregnancy and have begun chiropractic care with Dr. Heather as well. She is working with me to help alleviate the not-so-fun symptoms of pregnancy and to help my body be at it's best to function optimally while caring a child. All of the staff members at Yost Family Chiropractic are very positive, helpful and welcoming. They have a true passion for their job and for the education of members of the community. The office is extremely family-friendly, both in care of children, breastfeeding needs, bathroom facilities and activities to keep little ones occupied while there. Dr. Heather also provides wellness clinics for members of the community. I attended a workshop on eating to live which provided helpful information on how to eat healthier and better as a family. I would highly recommend Yost Family Chiropractic to anyone looking for a more complete health care, with great focus on the individual patient and on education of one's body. more

Great chiropractic care, nutrition information and general lifestyle education from Dr. Heather 9/4/2008

Dr. Heather and Katie at Yost Family Chiropractic are extremely welcoming. The clinic is very warm and comfortable with so much to offer. I've learned so much about health from Dr. Heather. She has been a reliable health care provider as well as mentor for me over the past four months. She has prepared me with what I need to know and expect when beginning Chiropractic school this fall. Everyone needs to come in and experience the warm atmosphere and great knowledge of Dr. Heather! Pros: Calming clinic, family-oriented, understanding team, always moving forward, committed to health and happiness of patients more

Friendly, Family-Oriented Chiropractic Clinic - Amazing experience 3/1/2008

I love going to Yost Family Chiropractic. Not only b/c I get relief from my pain, but because I'm healthier overall. I don't get sick as often and my children don't get sick as often.\r The environment is very family-oriented. Toys in the reception area, friendly staff and doctors, changing table in the bathroom (they even supply diapers if needed), and an adjusting table for kids that's shaped like a fish.\r Check out their website \r You can tour the clinic online, meet their staff, and even read some neat testimonials.\r They really are a family clinic. We love it. more
