Our Absolute Favorite 7/13/2007

We have tried various places all over the triangle, but we keep coming back to Little Tokyo. I love the small restaurant atmosphere, and the service is wonderful. The sushi, however, is amazing- the fish always tastes very fresh, and the rolls are very unique. Like another reviewer before me said, there are always 1-2 free appetizers before your meal, and dessert afterward, all complimentary. We come to Little Tokyo at least once every couple of weeks, and we'll continue to keep coming back. more

Best Sushi in the Triangle! 7/6/2007

If you are looking for beautiful atmosphere there are better places like Muras or Wasabi but if you are going for quality sushi with a nice personal touch then this is the place! Juno (the owner) is usually always there preparing the meals. I always get a complimentary appetizer before dinner and a little plum ice cream to refresh the palate after dinner. That to me is class... (try the white tuna - best anywhere - very buttery). Pros: Sushi or Sashimi - Best Anywhere Cons: Bad Location (made up by quality and price) more

Excellent Place for Lunch 6/13/2007

I went here the first day I lived in Cary and I fell in love with the place. The bento boxes are a great deal for lunch, with a nice amount of food for around $10. The waiter brought our table of 3 two free appetizers for us to sample, and they were delicious. And, the tempura was the best I've tasted in years--it was straight from the fryer to our table. *Huge* menu with tons of choices, but if you can't decide or are in a hurry just get a sushi or sashimi bento (I believe the lineup changes daily, so you get something new each time). Pros: Easy parking, great bento boxes Cons: Wait staff was a little slow, but it was so busy that I can understand more

Go for lunch. No regret. 4/11/2007

Hey what up peeps. We love it this place ""Lil Tokyo"" long time. Especially 4 lunch time. Yum yum. And you get free appetizer which is SUPRA-TASTEE. I suggest chick-n-get-bent-o and also there is a roll I think call ""Superior Roll"" or something that. Very good. Like J.J. say ""DYNOMITE!"" Pros: Good and fast Cons: Fashion magazine on table not go with decorum more

dry fish, bad service 4/5/2007

I myself am a sushi lover. I have been to sushi restauraunts all over the country. I like to the eat a combo of different rolls and sashimi. I love sitting at the sushi bar so i can chat with the sushi chefs about new or special rolls but at this restauant the guys barely spoke english. I was very dissapointed with the service i recieved. The fish was dry and not fresh cut. Overall this place is just like every other place in Raleigh like sushi blues, kanki, shaababbuabu or whatever it is they all are pretty plain. I am looking to find a better restaurant in the rtp. Pros: good prices Cons: service, fish not as fresh as others ive seen more

best sushi in town 3/5/2007

this restaurant has somany special rolls, i don't like row fish that much more

Best Japanese in the Triangle 10/25/2006

This place is so good! The dynamite fish is outstanding and a real bargain at lunch. Along with your entree you get a salad, soup, two appetizers, and several selections of sushi with the main meal. For the price, the amount of food you get is huge. The real benefit is the taste and quality. I'm addicted to this place! more

Fantastic Sushi 10/10/2006

I just relocated to the triangle from the NY area where I enjoyed eating at many great Sushi restaurants. This was as good as any sushi I've ever had. I went in early on a Tuesday evening, and was worried that I went on a slow night, the food might not be fresh...but I was so wrong. Everything was very fresh, and just beautifully prepared. They really understand the art of sushi here! Pros: The food Cons: Waitress did not have the best English...but maybe that's part of the ambience and authenticity. more

great sushi 5/14/2006

the sushi is really good..but the waitresses are really bad... their service are slow and etc... Pros: great food Cons: slow service more

Best Sushi in Raleigh or Cary 3/17/2006

I had a small list of good Sushi places in Cary and Raleigh that I would visit. But Little Tokyo is the best. There food has been consistent for the past 2 years. I have never had bad food or sushi there. My only complaint is that sometimes they get too busy and you have to wait for a table (if you walk in) and the wait staff gets behind in refilling my drink. I suppose that is a small price to pay for fresh fish and great sushi. Pros: Fresh fish, Varied sushi Cons: Busy waitstaff, wait more

Converted... 12/10/2005

I've never liked seafood, much less ""sushi""... but when I got married, it was a must to eat sushi atleast once a month. So, my wife went out to quite a few different places in the Triangle searching for that perfect sushi place. She was determined to convert me to a sushi eater. We went out to several places. Some of them did not implant a good first impression. Then we found Little Tokyo. I was VERY surprised at the food. I'm still not a ""raw"" sushi fanatic, but the sushi here was great compared to the other sushi places I've visited (cheap or expensive). The dishes aren't humungous, but the extra complimentary soup, salad, and crab appetizer was enough to leave you satisfied. Prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is simple and casual, with a little modern Japanese soft rock for the background music. The waiters are very friendly. Pros: Quality Food, Good Prices, Friendly Waiters Cons: Small Parking Lot more

Best Sushi Thus Far 11/4/2005

Quaint Japanese restaurant. Service was great. Got an appetizer and a desert on the house and both were great. I have found my new favorite sushi place. Sushi Tsune has nothing on this restaruant Pros: great sushi, desert was great, not too crowed Cons: had a B rating more

Not So Secret 5/18/2005

Wife and I are regulars at Little Tokyo. Any review more than a year or so old does not reflect current operation. Food excellent. Service usually very good. Clean and comfortable but not flashy. Authentic based on my six years in Tokyo. Becoming more and more popular as the word gets out. Pros: good food Cons: location more

ReVisited 6/3/2004

I began going to Little Tokyo back in the late 90's and it was pretty good. The owner sold the business and the new guy was okay, but it was not the old Little Tokyo. Now there is a new owner, Sushi Chef Juno. Wow this place is better than ever. The menu is one of the most extensive in the area for Japanese food and the prices are highly competitive (inexpensive). Chef Juno is an artist. One thing is required to gain entry, an appetite. Pros: price performer, fresh fish, artistic presentation more

Exceptional Sushi 6/3/2004

Exceptional food presentation and preparation by Chef Juno. Individual care and attention taken by the staff. For lunch or dinner the service is outstanding. Once you have been there you will become a regular as I have. Pros: Reasonably Priced, Great Service, Presentation Cons: , location, no large groups more

GREAT SUSHI, New Management. 2/20/2004

Little Tokyo is under new management and the food is outstanding. Menu items are unique and attractively priced. The new owner/sushi chef from the Northeast is enjoying the quieter pace of the Triangle while providing some new taste treats. One of the best sushi resturants in the Triangle. We've become 'regulars'. Pros: new menu items, great service, pleasant dining more

Good food 11/25/2002

The food is good. It is quiet. Service is prompt. Try there Salmon Skin roll - yummy! more

Good Eats 11/7/2002

Great service! Best Miso soup! My favorite Japanese restaurant in the Triangle! more

""quaint"" is the only word 11/4/2002

After recommendations by a friend, we went for a try. The place was quaint and uninteresting , just like their sushi... the chefs were boring and the atmosphere was uneasy. sukiyaki was the only highlight albeit a little too sweet. The tuna I had was tasteless and chewy as with the seaweed they use for their rolls. Overall average but I'd spend my money else where. more

best in town 8/21/2002

I have been to prety much all of the sushi resturants in town. This is by far the freshest fish found. more
