I have worked with Dr. Yanuck for several years, and she has always been very empathetic, warm and caring. She is always open to discussing any issues that may come up, and whether I display anger, love, fear or any other emotion, she always handles it with complete professionalism and empathy. She made the boundaries of the relationship clear from the beginning and has never crossed them so as to keep me feeling safe and supported.\r

Dr. Yanuck is very experienced at working with Borderline Personality Disorder, Dissociative Identity Disorder and sexual abuse issues. She is trained in EMDR and uses this treatment with much success. She is a strong supporter of DBT and, for those who would benefit from it, recommends several groups that teach DBT.\r

Her office is conveniently located off I-40 and 15-501. It is small but warm with a big overstuffed leather chair for the client. She is almost always right on time for my appoitnments, but the few times she has been late, it has never been by more than five minutes, and then she gives me extra time at the end of the session to make up for it. During particularly intense sessions, she will let me know a few minutes in advance that the session is about to be up; that gives me an opportunity to pull myself together before having to face the world. She is excellent at keeping the session within the proper time limits so that other patients aren't kept waiting.\r

I suppose I can see why the other reviewer felt she was stuffy. When talking with her on the phone she has a very professional demeanor, and in session she is not always quick to laugh or joke around. But during session she has never been anything but fully engaged, warm and empathetic. She prefers not to do much talking during session, as she wants the client to determine the course of conversation. She has never forced her opinions or beliefs on me and allows me to come to my own conclusions in my own time.
Pros: Location, Punctuality, Ease of making appointments, Availability by phone, Supportive, Experienced
