two weeks ago i hired Yankee movers to move me from west village to midtown. Even though they were 15 min late, as soon as they arrived ( Billy, Alex and Sam) organized the move in few minutes. They wrapped every peace of furniture in blankets as they said they would, and protected it from any damage. The hard working guys finished the move very fast. Highly recommend Yankee moving Inc. for professionalism and hard work. Thank you! more

Pack a suitcase- For each member of the family moving, pack a suitcase as if you’re all going on a 3-day vacation, including changes of clothes, medications, eyeglasses, toiletries, etc. Keep the suitcases separated from all the other items to be moved, such as in your car, at your new workplace, etc. so you’ll have everything you need for the first few days without searching through boxes.\r Create “Open Me First” boxes- Pick one or two boxes per room as ""Open Me First"" boxes. Put in them the things you'll need first at your new location. Then mark the sides of the boxes so you'll know which ones are which.\r One at a time- Wherever possible, work on packing just one room at a time (instead of several all at once) to keep things focused and organized.\r Less is more- Use packing as a way to clean out belongings for donations, a yard sale, and/or the recycling center. Aim to eliminate 1/3 of your belongings. You'll save time and expense.\r Off the floor- Instead of the floor, use a completely cleared-off table top or counter in each room for packing boxes. You'll find you get much more accomplished.\r Tracking small parts- When taking apart items to be moved, such as tables, securely tape screws and other small parts securely to the underside of the item. You'll always know where to look and save time putting things back together.\r Save space- Use towels, pillows and t-shirts you’re packing as extra padding around fragile items. It will save room in your boxes.\r Criss-cross tape- Tape boxes along the seams where the flaps meet together. Then tape perpendicularly at the center of the first tape, forming a cross.\r Stacking- Stack boxes with the heaviest on the bottom, lightest on top to prevent crushing.\r The 30-pound rule- Keep each box below 50 pounds absolute maximum and below 30 pounds wherever possible. Heavier boxes lead to injuries, are much more likely to burst their tape or seams and tend to get dropped.\r Scale- Keep a bathroom scale in the room you're packing so you can keep the boxes below the weight limits.\r \r \r more

Careful, professional, and eager to please their customer, Yankee Movers did a top notch job! First time experience with a moving company and they did not fail us, they were terrific and hardworking! The 3 men crew Eddie, Britson and Jampa sufficiently accommodated all my needs and I was fully satisfied with their service. They wrapped all my furniture carefully and even added packing paper to some of my boxes that they thought were poorly packed. They cleared my 1.5 apartment in Park Slope in less than 4 hours and another 2 hours to unload in my new apartment in Manhattan. Moving Company Worth Every Penny! 2/4/2012

This review was long overdue. Yankee Movers moved me a week before Christmas to my new house in Dix Hills. It was an all day move with packing, wrapping, crating, loading, unloading, etc. The team of 6 movers lead by Sam arrived 5 minutes after the schedule time, but since the move was a binding estimate we were not worried about them being 5 minutes late. Once all paperwork were signed, the movers got right to work. A female packer, Cynthia was packing all the kitchen items, 3 of them wrapped all the furniture’s in the living room, dining room, and the 2.5 bedrooms. The other 2 was helping carry all the wrapped furnitures along with boxes in the truck while Sam was organizing both trucks to make sure all our goods fitted perfectly in both the trucks. From past experiences, the movers I hired treated my items like garbage bags. Such was not the case with Yankee Movers. All six movers were very careful with our belongings and treated them with extreme caution. Once loading was finished, they headed straight to my new home in Dix Hills and started unloading. The manner in which the movers carried out the entire moving procedure showed the dedication and pride they had in their work. All the furniture’s were unwrapped and placed carefully to my orders. It was a long day of manual labor and all credits goes to the movers of Yankee Movers along with their office agent Steven who was cooperative and super friendly throughout the move. Exceptional Service & Professional Moving Team! 1/17/2012

I recently scheduled a small business move in midtown mahattan that had to take place after business hours.I had agents from different moving companies visit our office to provide an estimate, and was fortunate to find Yankee Movers. The agent, Dennis was very professional, answered all of my questions,and provided the necessary insurance requirements for the building. He gave me a 8:00 to 8:30 window when his movers would arrive, and they showed up right at 8:00. Eddie and his assistant were courteous, hard working and finished my move without any problem. The estimated time was about 8-10 hours of work but it took an extra hour of work due to elevator issue. I would definitely recommend Yankee Movers should I need to move personally. Made my move completely painless! 1/16/2012

Moving is never an exciting experience. This was my first time hiring a moving company. A friend who had previously moved recommended Yankee movers. She had used them a couple months earlier and had a great experience using them. At first I was a bit hesitant even though her move with this company seemingly went ok didn’t mean mine would too. I had expensive items and other fragile items that I was worried they would get damaged. I went on their website to check it out and still wasn’t convinced enough so I gave them a call. The representative I spoke to was professional, he was very informative and the rate was good so I decided to book with them. On the day of the move they were a little late but I didn’t make a big deal of it my only concern was that my items would be handled with care and reach safely without any damages. I kept eye on the movers throughout the entire process. The movers seemed to know what they were doing; they wrapped and packed all items accordingly. They quickly and carefully moved all my stuff without anything being damaged. I would highly recommend Yankee Movers to anyone looking for a moving company. more

Could not have asked for more! 12/19/2011

I spoke to several moving companies before settling on Yankee Movers, but was still nervous about my things (five 7-ft tall Ikea wardrobe units) surviving the move. It turns out that there was nothing to worry about. Not only did they offer a great, fair price, but the crew (Britson, Sam and Kumar) was highly professional, great to work with and even more careful than I was with my own belongings. The day was long, but it was made much easier with such great movers. more

Gross Incompetence 11/2/2011

I hired Yankee Movers to move me from Astoria to Long Island. Their office is literally a 15 minute drive from the location I was moving from, yet a half hour after they were supposed to arrive I received a call from the driver asking my address. They finally showed up 45 minutes late and, in all fairness, were relatively efficent and packed my furniture well.\r \r Under ordinary circumstances, it would take about 45 minutes to drive from the place I was moving from and to. I allowed 2 hours and they had not arrived. After about 3 hours I received a phone call from the office informing me that the truck was lost and couldn't take their planned route because a railroad overpass was too low for them to pass under. Aren't they supposed to be professionals and know how to get from point A to point B?\r \r The place they were stuck was no more than 15 minutes away from the place that I was moving. A total of 4 hours after they departed Astoria, they arrived at my new home. Again, this is a 45 minute drive by car, and I figured the most it could take would be 2 hours. I drove the same highways that they did and there was no traffic.\r \r Once they finally arrived, they began backing the truck into my neighbor's driveway, not the driveway that belongs to my house and provides access to the garage that is attached to the house itself. When they finally began unpacking, you can imagine my surprise when the first thing they unloaded were 5 strollers. I am a single man with no children. The movers had packed up my 1 bedroom apartment and I have no possessions that would even remotely suggest that I had one child, let alone 5. As it turns out, they had packed up my old neighbors' strollers and moved them to my house. \r \r The movers didn't apologize or offer to return them to my original apartment building, I had to take care of this myself. For all this trouble, they gave me a half hour's credit on my bill.\r \r While unpacking my possessions, I realized a blanket was missing. I contacted their office and their apparantly one competent employee, Latoya, did a great job locating the blanket. When I asked her to mail it to me, she said that they shouldn't have to pay for the shipping! I had to go back to their office and pick up my own property that they had failed to unpack.\r \r Do not be fooled by their relatively low rates. Hiring them was a giant mistake. You get what you pay for. I highly suggest you look elsewhere. more

Move in NY 8/10/2011

Pros:\r The movers were good and knew what they needed to do to pack the furnitures and carry, load and unload. They are courteous and helpful and the move was smooth. I have used them before and they continue to give good service. Nothing broke during the move and they were careful enough not to get any ticketes. Overall all a good, smooth and stress free move. \r \r Cons:\r The rate given was good, however make sure you confirm what extra studd they will be using to pack your stuff. Other than the blankets and tape, everything is extra but the movers itself wont mention it explicitely. Also the movers mention what tip they want, I believe in giving a good tip if they do a good job but asking it upfront even before you started the job is not cool with me. \r \r WOULD RECOMMEND THEM AND USE THEM AGAIN. more

One good thing about having bad moving experiences in the past is that they make you appreciative of the good guys when they come around... Yankee Movers is one of those good guys. Honest, Courteous & Truly Professionals! 7/15/2011

Let me start off by saying, I tipped the three men that Yankee Movers sent to move my handful of furniture from my old studio apartment to my new 1 bedroom apartment jus 4 blocks away! The requirements of my new building literally forced that I hire professional movers: masonite, CIO, blah blah blah. Anyways I stumbled upon Yankee Movers when they were hired to do a move for a neighbor in my old apartment. I saw the truck parked outside my building, and with a name like Yankee Movers, who could forget them? I gave them call, got a quote with the right price and decided to hire them for my very small move. The move, of course, was done within the minimum hours quoted and to my surprise I had a rather pleasing experience with these guys. The movers showed up on time, worked non-stop and got the job done in a professional manner. Whilst I never saw myself paying to have my stuff moved, the service I received from Yankee Movers was worth every penny! I would not hesitate to recommend Yankee Movers to anyone. They are an honest company with a truly courteous and professional staff. more

Overall A Stress Free Moving Experience!!!! 7/11/2011

We had a great experience with Yankee Movers two weeks ago. We had booked with the company a little over a month ago and despite the fact their estimate was 7-9 hours (and we were prepared for 9 hours) the guys completed the job in 6.5 hours...saving us some more money The three guys that came and moved us were professional and amiable. We moved to a third floor walk-up to a house that had 2 floors. They moved everything quickly and the vast amount of stairs didn't seem to faze them. I could go on and on about them...but you really must use them if you are moving! They turned a stressful situation into a enjoyable one! more

Your Company Deserves More Than a 5 Star Rating! 7/11/2011

Let's start with a well-known truth: moving sucks. Just over this past weekend, we moved from a private house in Park Slope to Wall Street, we looked up for movers on the web, narrowed it down to a list of three highly rated movers, and had all three give us an estimate on our move. Truth be told, Yankee Movers wasn't the cheapest, but from the very first moment we talked to them, we had a sense that they were very organized, very honest, and very reliable. The estimator provided a comprehensive and accurate estimate. The morning of the move, four movers showed up right on time, and within three hours, our condo was empty. They were unbelievably careful with our fragile items (mirrors, antique dresser, etc). and also just great guys- polite, friendly, and easy going. When they arrived in my new apartment in Wall Street, the crew was amazing - in less than 2 hours, our apartment was unpacked. All of our stuff arrived exactly it was packed and wrapped- not a single scratch, dent, or break - and the movers quickly assembled the few items that needed to be put together post-move. All of this to say, If you are planning to move with NYC, Yankee Movers is the way to go. They take a painful process and make it easy. more

Excellent Movers! 6/12/2011

I had an excellent experience with Yankee Movers. They were incredibly fast and efficient, and very accommodating when we encountered an issue with our building's management company. Our movers, Sangpo, Britson and Jampa, were professional and great to work with. Had we not encountered any issues with management (which was purely my own fault for disobeying building rules), they would have moved all the furniture and boxes from the truck to our new apartment in less than a half hour! I was very impressed and would absolutely recommend them. more

Professional Moving Company 3/29/2011

For me this had been the most amazing experience with a moving company! I have moved so many times but this is the first time i was given a fair price and was promised service and got them all! I was able to take advantage of their spring sale and got discounts as well.. somewhere around 25% off my total cost. What I appreciated most was they handed me a ""Summary of information for Shippers of Household Goods"". Its a small booklet with information about what to expect from the movers during and after the move. They recommended and according to DOT is required to keep it for future references while moving. I highly recommend Yankee Movers to everyone! more
