Best Pizza in L.A. 8/10/2009

This place seriously has the best pizza in L.A. I went with a bunch of girlfriends last night and we were seated right away. Although our waitress was a bit airheaded and forgot about us, she was sweet and polite. My con was how dark it was inside. I understand that its a sports bar as well, but I hate dim lighting. Pros: Margherita pizza Cons: Dim lighting more

Terrible service by the manager 7/20/2009

My family and I went for dinner at this resturaunt. I ordered the California Salad. When I got it there was hardly any chicken or other stuff on it. I asked the waiteress very nicely if I could change my order as I was dissapointed that there was hardly anything on the salad. She rudly told us to "hang on". The manager came by and rudly asked what the problem was. I again explained in a nice manner that for the money the salad was not worth the $15.00. He became very hostile with me and told me that "the salad was priced at fair market value" I explained that I would pay for the salad if it was worth the $15.00. He again insulted me by stating "you are in LA, this is what you get". I was apolled that he would talk to toursits this way. However, I live in LA so I am grateful that someone visiting did not have to go through this. I assertively told him that I would like the chicken burger instead of the salad. He said no. My husband was extremely upset and told him that we were leaving. He said that if we leave he would call the police. We stayed and waited. In the meantime, he would not comp our meals until 30 minutes later when WE called the police stating that the manager was holding us against our will. My mom spent 15 minutes explaining that he was in the wrong and that this is poor customer service. The manager did not care. He kept saying that I was being rude when I asked to change my order. Pros: none Cons: manager was rude! Threatened to call the police on me! more

Horrible service/mediocre food 5/26/2009

In this economy where each customer matters, the owner seemed to be unaware the fact that wervice matters. When we tried to tell him that my husband was unhappy with his meal he offered to wrap it up and we could take it with us. Rude and inconsiderate. more

Football and Turkey Burgers! 1/29/2009

Whoa, I must say that this place pleasantly surprised me! Despite being packed, the servers were very attentive and nice. The big screens were top-notch and perfect for the NFL playoff games I watched. The food was also very tasty. The Turkey Burger is a must have! Prices were ok, after all this IS the promenade we're talking about. I would definitely recommend Yankee Doodles! Pros: Good food! Cons: Sweaty Eagles fans! more

Terrible Customer Service 1/11/2009

I would give it a zero if I could. Friday afternoon, we came in and sat at the bar, the bartender saw us but didn't say hi or offer any service. The bar was not busy. more

Yankee Doodles Food Contamination and Sports DIve FIre Trap 1/11/2009

The third street promedade is a shopping area with a vast variety of locals. Yankee Doodles is located on the Promenade. This place is a 15000 square foot dive with rude staff and lousy food. Pros: Lots of Video screens and pool tables. Cons: Food, Service, Management more

Worst restaurant, don 1/2/2009

My family and I went there on new years eve night. We ordered drinks and dinner. Our server was pleasant, For dinner I ordered the pizza and a rib dinner. When it came I took a bite out of the ribs, which were very dry. But, considering the kids were along, i decided to hold my opinion, and just make the best of it. When my margarita came, i tasted it and found it very sweet and syrupie, couldn't taste any alcohol at all. I called the waitress over, and asked if she would please add a little more alcohol in my drink, or take it back. she advised that i would have to speak with the manager, "jimmy". When "jimmy" came over, so did his attitude. He was sacrcastic and very condescending. I told him about the drink, and that he should taste it. He refused, told me that they mixed their drink once a day, and that since i sipped from the glass, i would have to pay for it, regardless. I asked him whether he cared about his customers being satisfied, and he replied by telling me that if i dont pay for the drink, he'll call the police. Our server was so upset by what the manager jimmy was doing, she came back and apologized. . Stay away from this place. It really should be closed down. Don't let anyone you know, local or visitors go there. Pros: none Cons: no customer service more

I give it a -5 stars! 12/25/2008

My family and I went there on Xmas night. We ordered drinks, appetizers and finally dinner. Our server was very pleasant, wishing us a Merry Christmas first thing. For dinner I ordered the Chipotle chicken sandwich. When it came I took a bit out of it. It burned my mouth. I assumed that I had to get used to it. I took a second bite and determined that the sauce was so spicy it was inedible and I would get sick if I ate any more of it. I asked our server if I could have the sandwich made without the sauce. She said sure. In a couple of minutes she returned telling me that the manager said no I would be charged for another sandwich. I was surprised and asked her to send the manager over. He (Tony)came over and so did his attitude. He was sacrcastic and condesending. I told him it was inedible and that he should taste the sauce. He said "I do, every day." He tried to trick me into ordering the sandwich remade (so he could charge me for a second sandwich). When I said "but the girl said you would charge me for another sandwich", he VERY sarcastically said "Riigghhttt". When my husband told him to leave so we could finish our meal, Tony refused. My husband had to stand up and yell very loudly for him to leave us alone. Tony made a big production about telling us he was bringing the bill and that we were to leave. We sat there and finished our meal, except me of course. Our poor server was so upset by what the manager Tony was doing. She was near tears. I'm sure he ruined her Christmas as well as ours. I think Scrooge would have had a better attitude that Tony the manager of Yankee Doodles. Stay away from this place. It really should be closed down. Don't let anyone you know, local or visitors go there. Pros: Our server was pleasant Cons: Tony the manager, customer service, business practices more

Nice! 8/28/2008

Good place for sporting events. It gets very busy and chaotic. I've been here for NBA Finals and Super Bowls, and I've always had fun without spending way too much. The food is good and you get a lot for your hard earned cash. The drinks are cheap for the Promenade. Oh, and they have this massive burger called: THE MONSTER BURGER! The place erupted when it came out of the kitchen! MY GOD WAS IT MASSIVE! So in closing, GO!!! Pros: THE MONSTER BURGER Cons: Smelly people more

WORST SERVICE IN CALIFORNIA 8/13/2008

Now i have been here mabye 60 times over the past few years. All big games for every sport. One thing that hasefinitely stayed the same, is the lack of service. These girls, who have been only hired by the size of their chest, are completely useless. I actually had a waitress from here tell me to "Order anything you want right now, cause i am gonna go across the street for a job interview" I mean come on..The drinks are good, and so is the food, but when you sit there at a table, waiting to order dinner, surrounded by girls who definitely are getting paid to blankly stare at their IPhones, have no idea who my waitress is, 20 minutes go by, and still nothing. Now i can undersatnd if this happens once or twice, but it is a everyday time occurence. There has been one waitress, this girl from Dearborn Heights Michigan, who did a good job and got tipped well for it. No one else there has anything on her. If you plan on going, try to sit at the bar. Its the onoly spot where you have a shot at some decent service. Pros: Food and Televisions Cons: Service, waitresses, attitudes more

great BAR 8/4/2008

I love this bar! We found it by accident a few months ago when we my roommate and I went to meet her boyfriend out for drinks. I wasn't all that excited because we ALWAYS meet him at a sportsbar but I was pleasantly surprised. I can't say much as to the rest of the restaurant (the place is huge) but the actual bar is fabulous. There's music, a happy hour that starts late at nite, and I don't know how the rest of the food is, my friends and all I always get the yummy spinach dip!!! Also because its a sportsbar there's usually plenty of cute guys or you can always flirt with the hottie bartender vance (?) who is usually there nights. Plus theres tons of other bars within walking distance. It does get a little crowded with a poolhall type crowd (they've got a gazillion pool tables) and the dance floor is downstairs and usually theres almost noone on it Pros: location, bartender Cons: lacking good dance area more

Amazing Atmosphere and Amazing Food! 6/26/2008

Great soccer crowd! Strong drinks for cheap, especially on the Promenade! The food selection is massive, and the portions are huge! more

Who do you complain to when management is the problem?? 6/24/2008

I've gone to Yankee Doodles multiple times over the past few years, and never really had a problem until this year. When I went a few weeks ago in a group of 4, we had the nachos as as appetizer. We finished off the chips and had a lot of salsa, etc. left so when a manager came over (our server was MIA and still hadn't brought our drinks) we asked him for more chips. His response was simply, "no, sorry." Not, "sure but we charge an extra $3" or something like that, which we would've agreed to. He just told us we had to order a full second order if we wanted more chips. How ridiculous is that?! I chalked it up to bad service that night and an even worse manager. Pros: roomy and open, ok food Cons: horrible management!, ok servers, awful bar drinks more

Good, very good indeed. 6/5/2008

I always have a good time when I visit this place. The food is good and moderately priced. Good ribs!! The drinks are good too, and overall, I can't complain about anything. Go!!! Pros: Good food and drinks Cons: tourists more

Horrible all around.. 5/18/2008

We went to the Santa Monica Yankee Doodles there to eat. Outside was crowded so we decided to eat inside, that is until we got in there. Have they heard of an AC? It was hotter than heck in there. We then decided to just wait for a table outside. We got a table outside. The waitress walked by many times didn't even look at us. We finally ordered, I got the wings which were cold. Funny, it's hot as hell inside yet the wings are delivered cold. My girlfriend liked what she got but when were getting ready to go she asked for a to go box for her sandwich and a little container of the Chipotle sauce that came with it. The waitress said she "would have to charge us for the sauce". This was after I already paid the bill. I said how about we trade. I only ate two of my cold wings. Take them back and give her a container of sauce. (I didn?t even ask for a refund on the wings even though I ate only two!) She just laughed and walked off. Needless to say I won't be back and for the first time in my life I didn't tip. In the tip area I wrote "Give free sauce!" We weren't asking for a bottle, just a tiny amount. The couple next to me had bad service as well. He got his food a good 10 minutes before his girl. I guess chili fries take a long time to prepare. Anyways, I would avoid this place at all costs. There is no excuse for service like this. If you can?t run a business then close down and open that space for someone who can. Pros: None Cons: Bad all around more

Amazing Everything! 5/13/2008

This place was so busy for Sunday's Lakers playoff game! I expected lousy service because of the game, but I was mistaken. Everything went smoothly. My drink was always topped off, and my food was delicious. The fettuccine is delicious! This place is really cool too. Lots of TV's, pool tables... oh, man there is soo much stuff! I recommend it! Pros: Fettucine! Cons: None more

Best Casual Hangout Spot 5/8/2008

Cool hangout spot. There are so many things to do here. Pool, arcade, video games... My friends and I go for the pool and the drinks. The food is pretty good too. I would recommend this place without any doubts. Pros: Pool and drinks Cons: Hipsters that were hovering the pool table next to mine ... errr! more

Loved it! 4/27/2008

We had great food, great service - I'm not sure what the lady below is talking about, as Yankees was an all around cool local hang out. more

Best NBA Playoffs Hangout 4/22/2008

I saw two NBA playoff games at this place last weekend, and my wife and I had ourselves a good time. Good crowd too. Let's see, I liked the burger I ordered. It was well prepared. It was big, and generally satisfying for what it cost. Drinks were pricey. Yea, that's nothing new on the Promenade. The server was pleasant. She came by to check on my wife and I more than once. The big screens and sound system got the job done. Good times. Pros: Server, Food, Big Screens Cons: Jukebox that can't make-up its mind. more

Expensive, atrocious food; incredibly slow and inattentive service 4/21/2008

Possibly the worst dining experience I've had since moving to the West Coast a year ago. Slow service and stunningly bad, cold food. Drinks took 10 minutes to arrive, and our coffee drinks took 20. Waiter had forgotten my request for a normal mug of coffee, when it finally arrived, the coffee was room-temperature cold. Although this is obviously a sports bar and not a coffeeshop, there was absolutely no difference between the latte and the cappuccinos the others in our party ordered. We had to send nachos back because once they arrived the "cheese sauce" had hardened into a cold, gummy, gelatin. My "Texas Burger" that advertised itself as having "onion rings" had a total of one [1] ring, one of the butt-end ones just under 2" in diameter. Would have sent back had it not already taken 30 minutes to arrive and I hadn't yet eaten that day. The promenade is expensive, yes, but each of our 10-15 dollar entrees was lower in quality, quantity, and taste than a Denny's. The only possible exception is the pizza: 10-15 bucks will get you a maybe-Little-Caesars-quality pizza the size of your plate. We had to constantly remind waitstaff of our refills, rather than count on him to be attentive. Our original waiter actually left while we were eating and introduced us to the young man who would take over our table, and this second young man was a much more helpful and enthusiastic employee, hopefully our tip went to him. more
