Best

Teppan is great here with very reasonable price. It is the best to order fried rice to entertain with fire and flame. Definitely love it.

Bad, Horrible so-called sushi 12/4/2008

Where do I start? This is bad sushi. House special seems to be a California roll (imitation crab) which all the high school kids present with their cokes were loving. Sushi pieces so thin I could see my girl friend looking through. The smallest, saddest looking soft shell crab ever. Employees (looked like the dishwashers) singing Happy birthday with Halloween masks on at several tables in one 2 hour period. Old expired rotating sushi plates I didn't want to touch. I wish I could find a new home for those poor Koi swimming in the dirty water out front. Don't believe all those positive reviews. I just hope I don't get sick. Pros: cost Cons: quality more

gross 9/29/2008

I'm sitting here with heartburn. Thanks to this place. So many things grossed me out about Yamato - from the dirty water in the koi pond out front to the rotating sushi plates around the sushi bar. The same twenty plates of gross-looking rolls or sushi pieces go rotating by you - its not like in Japan where people are actually grabbing them and the sushi chef is constantly re-stocking or taking off things that have been on too long. it was like a shooting gallery of sad-looking sushis. The worst thing was the little plastic covers over all of them - the plastic looked all smeary and cracked - it reminded me of hospital food. My other big complaint was that when you go to a sushi restaurant, you expect traditional Japanese serving plates, of interesting colors and shapes, that compliment the food--- all the plates I was served were standard-issue cafeteria-looking round or oval white western-style dishes. it made the food look gross. again, kinda like hospital food if they served sushi at hospitals. Then there was the actual taste of the food--- the sashimi was pretty flavorless, the rolls had a weird earthy (kinda like decaying) taste to them, and the gyoza i ordered were waaaaay too fried. Oh and they tried to overcharge me. Sorry. It sucked. But that's what I get for trying to eat sushi in Valencia. Pros: Cool Japanese banners Cons: Rotating sushi bar from hell, boring plates, bland food more

Really good food!!!! 4/2/2008

My husband and I really enjoyed eating here. The menu was huge and there were tons of really yummy sounding choices. I got the penne arrabiata and he got the pesto linguini. Both were excellent! Not your average pasta dishes that you can get in any italian joint. They were very gourmet tasting, my penne arrabiata was the best I've had ever had, nice and spicy! The bread was warm and came with an olive tapenade that was really delicious. We shared the tiramisu for dessert and it's a good thing we did as it was a pretty big piece and it was really yummy! Dinner came to $30 w/ tax and we both just had ice water so it's not super cheap ($11 average for an entree) but the food is worth it and the portions were decent, we both took some home as leftovers.\r \r We went for an early dinner/late lunch at around 4 in the afternoon so the service was excellent and the food came out pretty quick, maybe because it is always that way or maybe because we were the only one's there. So far this is our favorite Italian restaurant we have tried in Santa Clarita, we will definitely be back for more great italian soon! Pros: Great food, Big menu, Good Service, Good Portion Size Cons: A little on the pricey side, but not bad! more

BEST ENVIORNMENT EVER!! 2/28/2008

Ok i recently had a date with this hot guy. i was really nervous and he asked me to choose a place to go eat. So i heard from many of my friends i should go to this teppan/sushi/bar restaurant called ""yamato""...\r I LOVED IT! Because the chef that i had was awesome! he made my date and I laugh so much. Which broke the ice ( u kno how first dates are*) and from then on everything was smooth sailing. It felt so comfortable eating there. espcially the food, its to die for.** Pros: I loved everything about that place. The food, the atmosphere, the drinks at the bar, Cons: i got fat. more
