Wll not take my dog there again for anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 9/11/2010

Just like the other comment, me and my wife just got back from a 6 day trip in which we left our dog at XTREME K-9, after picking up our dog and getting him back home we noticed allot of ticks on him. When then washed him many times, and had to go to the Vet to get something to treat our dog, after calling XTREME K-9 and notifying them of what happen they didn't seem to concerned. We will never take our dog there again, also I wouldn't recommend anyone else taking there dog to this place if you care about your dog and your well being for when you would get you dog back home, because who knows what type of germs would be transferred from your dog to you or your family. more

WILL NOT TAKE OUR DOGS BACK TO X-TREME K-9 4/7/2010

I just want to say up front that the owners seem nice and our dogs have been to X-treme K-9 a couple of times before this incident for half a day of day play and we didn't notice any problems up till this point, but maybe we didn't look hard enough..... Just this weekend though (4-3-10)we took our dogs here for a 3 day, 2 night stay while we were on vacation. All seemed fine till we got them home and we found a live tick on some of our stuff from where it had fallen on the floor next to the dogs. After the inital finding we shaved the dogs down completely and they were covered in ticks. We spent four hours shaving, pulling ticks off and rebathing our dogs after driving 3 hours home from vacation. We were up till midnight and my husband had to use another day of PTO to help with damage control! De-ticking supplies had to be purchased for dogs, home and vehicle and when the owner of X-treme K-9 was informed of the problem, we got a ""sorry"" and ""I guess I'll have to respray"". We will never take our dogs back and I wouldn't reccommend this place just for health reasons for both human and canine family members. I'd give them zero stars if possible as this is animal creulty as far as I'm concerned. Pros: The dogs were still there when we got back Cons: Disease Carrying Ticks Says It All! more

Not a good place for dogs that need more supervision 2/6/2010

I took my boxer Lou Lou there several times for boarding. Most times when I picked her up she was tired and dirty, but seemed happy. The last time I boarded there I picked her up and she wasn't acting like herself and was dirtier than usual. I got her home, bathed her and then I noticed a dime sized bite wound on the outside of her back leg and several smaller holes and scratches on the inside. This had obviously been there for at least several hours to days because it was packed w/ mud and begining to get infected. I called the vet and had to take her in. I did end up having to put her on oral antibiotics (as a precaution). Pros: good exercise Cons: not enough supervision (only explaination I can think of) more

My dogs second home 12/20/2008

We have been taking our dogs to Xtreme K9 for the past 2 years. They have always taken great care of my two babies during the week for daycare and anytime that we leave home. Each time we turn down Priem lane, they get crazy and excited, and when they come home they are very tired from playing. We could not be more happy with the service, and care that we receive from Gary and team. more

XTREME K-9 THE BEST!! 4/29/2008

It is worth the drive from Austin! No other place like it. The owners are very experienced and the staff is very attentive to your pets. They know how to help socialize your dog if needed. The place is spacious and the dogs have loads of room to run around and play in. The dogs are boarded indoors at night and the kennels are large enough for our German Shephard. I am so pleased we found this place, it is not like your local vet, where the dogs stay in a kennel, or run all the time. Our 2 dogs, barely notice when we pick them up.....I think they are having too much fun!! Truly professional owners and staff. I would recommend this place highly. It is somewhat of a drive for us, but absolutely worth it!! Pros: great staff, dogs have huge area to play in, in emergencies they will work around your time schedule. more

beware 1/2/2008

Just becareful if you call about an ad for puppies for sale and it leads you to this business. I purchased a puppy from here. My paperwork stated they had nothing to do with the sale, however the puppy was purchased from a lady who has some ""dealings"" here. I had my very expensive puppy for 9 days and she died. The seller is not accepting any responsibility what so ever. I have talked to several vets and have done my research on it and it all states my puppy was sick when I got her and the seller failed to have her checked out properly. Just be careful of buying any puppies from her it could cost you your heart and your pocketbook. I am going to take my case as far as I can. Cons: Sells sick animals and seller will not accept responsibility for it. more

!!BEWARE!! Not What You Want 12/27/2007

I am *extremely* disappointed in Xtreme K9. I recently boarded my labrador with xtreme. As soon as I picked up my dog I noticed right away he wasn't himself. He wasn't the energetic, happy-go-lucky dog that I know and love. I figured he might just be tired from playing with all the dogs (and I mean tons of dogs). After having thought about it, how can three or four people possibly watch 35+ dogs all at once? Anyways, after letting my dog take a 4 hour nap I glanced over him again to make sure I hadn't missed any possible bite or scratch marks from the first time i checked when I picked him up. He was lounging in the kitchen all lethargic when I noticed his lower belly was all red. Something is not right here. His skin is normally soft as a baby with a tint of gray. I looked down to find his poor little belly from his belly button to his inner thighs and down to his butt was all red. Red like raw meat. Really, really raw. I proceeded to take him to the animal hospital and was told that he acquired a staphlococcus infection of some sort due to the unsanitary conditions in which he was in. Oh, by the way, $200 for the visit. more

Awesome for active dogs! 10/12/2007

I've been bringing my dogs to Xtreme K9 for 2 years, and it has been the best boarding facility that I have seen or visited here in Austin. The dogs are able to play outside with other dogs for long periods of time, which is far better than just having them cooped up in a concrete kennel all day. The staff is very friendly and accomodating to the needs of the dogs as well as their owners. When I pick my dogs up, they sleep for the almost the entire day when they get home because they have had so much fun! I would definately recommend Xtreme K9. Pros: Dogs are not cooped up all day, dogs have fun there Cons: Pflugerville! more

Dodger's home away from home!! 7/10/2007

When we moved to Austin a year ago, we knew we wanted a kennel-free environment for our 3 year old yorkie when we needed to board him. What we found was his new home-away-from-home! Never before did Dodger, our ""rambunctious"" pup, enjoy being boarded; he always seemed anxious and upset when we dropped him off at other places. But now when we pull up to Xtreme K9 his ears perk up, his tail starts wagging, and he can't WAIT to get in there and start playing with all of his new friends! The staff, too, are all extremely friendly, not only to me but also to Dodger. They know him by name and handle him very well; it's really obvious that they truly love dogs and want to keep them happy. This is the only boarding facility we will take him to now, as he loves it so much, and we feel that he is not only safe but also having a really great time while he's there. The hours of operation are convenient as well; they're even open for pick-up and drop-off on Sundays, when some other kennels are not. I could not be more pleased with Xtreme K9, and though it's a 30 minute drive for us, we think it's worth every mile. All dogs - big and small - who enjoy being around people and other dogs will enjoy staying here; our Dodger definitely does!! Pros: Customer service, value, peace of mind! Cons: It's located in Pflugerville, which is not convenient for some. Though we drive the 30 min. b/c we think it's worth it! more

Rude!!! 9/24/2006

I called Xtreme K9 this weekend to see when the best time would be to bring my dog in for an evaluation for boarding, the lady that answered the phone was extremely short with me. She told me that anytime between 4 and 6 on Saturday would be best. I get my dog (who gets very carsick) in the car and drive from downtown Austin to this place out in Pfugerville (45 minutes)...get out there around 4:15, knock on the door, no one there, call the phone, no one answers. There are dogs barking their heads off inside but no one is around. This is definitely a place I would never leave my dog. They must not want business too bad to not even be there when they said they would...much less leave all the dogs alone like that! Cons: Apparently not very custom service oriented! more

Mudslide doesnt want to leave! 6/27/2006

Xtreme K9 has been a great place for my dog. Not only do we have a place we feel good about leaving our dog when we leave town, I also feel that our dog has truly benefitted from being there. She comes back relaxed and exhausted after running around with our friends. The owners are extremely friendly and have been very helpful to us even when we had to leave on last minute trips. They have also been very helpful in answering any questions we have had concerning our dogs training, health etc. We have moved to south austin and still continue to make the drive as we feel it is such a great place for our dog! Pros: lots of space to run around, plenty of playtime and socialization more

The BEST dog boarding facility in Austin! 5/22/2006

Xtreme K-9 offers the very best dog boarding faciltiy for those who love their dogs and want their pets to have a safe, happy and fun boarding experience while their owners are out of town. I believe my dog benefits from all the socializing with his new doggie ""friends"". He gets to have an environment similar to his own home which makes the transition into a boarding facility less stressful on his mental wellbeing. As a dog owner, I value a place that I can trust to take as good of care of my ""boy"" as well as I do. The peace of mind I get is priceless! Pros: medium size facility, excellent care, clean and spacious more

My dog Sophia LOVES Xtreme K9! 8/3/2005

I moved here from the Dallas area, where I took my dog to day care once a week. She loved daycare. When I moved to North Austin, I could not find a doggie daycare OR a place to board my furry child when I had to. I took her to another place in the area, and she was anxious and unhappy when she was there. I took her to Xtreme K9, and she can't wait to go back! She loves Katy, who understands my very large breed and isn't intimidated by her size. She has A/C when it's just too hot to be outside, but she's not inside all day. Sophia's whole body wiggles when we pull up to drop her off. This is the best boarding experience Sophia has ever had...even BETTER than the place she liked in Dallas. Pros: Inexpensive, outdoors & indoors, great staff more
