First things first.. the staff is amazing, check in and out were easy and was treated nothing short of great. The location is pretty easy to get in and out on 2 different streets which is good if you miss a turn. The building is decent, could use a little bit of updating, ceiling in bathroom had some rotting and when housekeeping came, they left 2 towels in the room (1 of which I think we left hanging on the shower bar)... we had 5 people, and they made 3 beds..putting away the sofa bed. Common sense was not used when picking 1 towel for a room with 3 beds - clearly there were more people. Good news is.. Front desk to the rescue again, I called and got forgotten towels quickly! :) My only other complaint is that the AC is in the front room of the junior suite with no air moving to the bedroom without freezing out those on the sofa bed. There was a fan in the wall but it didn't ever come on, nor was there a button to do it manually (if that was supposed to be an option) i'd say that needs updated. more

Things went pretty well while there. We were there for vacation and found the pricing reasonable. The dual room with bunk beds was greatly appreciated with two daughters who are big enough for their own room. The front staff is exceptional, the cleaning staff not quite as friendly. Only two total negatives in this property. 1. The separated room has NO air-conditioning to the back room. So, the bunk beds are frozen, the king bed is sweltering hot from the humidity from the shower. If you open the door it gets better - but if I wanted to do that, I wouldn't have wanted the privacy. 2. We had 4 people, but not one single day did we get 4 towels. One day we only got 1 new towel. It was slightly humorous having to call daily to ask for 1 to 3 more towels. The location seems secure, and it isn't near as bad as some of the reviews say it is. It is in heart of that area - it has big city people and issues. If you don't want them, then stay outside of the city. more

For a motel room, it was more comfortable than many I've used. My room could stand to have some repairs, but these were all relatively small concerns. And the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and quite, and having a microwave and fridge in the room was a wonderful addition. The biggest plus for me was how close this motel is to everything! It's right by the stadium, very near the conference center and 5 minutes from Sea World. Several buses run past taking you just about anywhere you need to go. I only realized this the last day of my trip...I wasted so much money on cab fare! Side note: the hotel is near some amazing eateries. Du-Par's restaurant, which is literally next door, has THE most amazing breakfasts, for a very reasonable price. And their bakery items are to die for. Take some pis back to your room, you won't regret it. There's also a killer BBQ joint across the street, as well as several smaller shops in the strip mall and a Red Lobsters. All very convenient to the motel's location. In short, it could use some repairs and some beautification and I never could get the wi-fi to work right, but I'd 100% stay here again. more

The front desk personnel are great, very experience in what they do, we have been staying here on all our trips to San Diego, sometimes 3 to 4 times a year, we like the location. more

Convenient to a huge variety of family chain restaurants and fast food, so you can sit for dinner or grab a bite to go: Best ribs in San Diego directly across the street: Phil's BBQ--don't miss this one--skip the lines and call in your order of pork ribs to go to avoid the super-noisy restaurant. Feast in your room instead. Be sure to cross in the crosswalk...police are waiting to cite jay walkers. There's a grocery store and Target in the Home Depot parking lot just a few blocks east. A few more blocks and you'll see an all night 7-11, Chuckie Cheese Pizza, Chinese Panda, and the all-important In-n-Out Burger. The reason for all the food venues is the San Diego Sports Arena/entertainment center on the boulevard nearby. Bonus: one of the cheapest San Diego gasoline stations is accessible in the Sports arena parking lot as is the Chik-fil-a restaurant. This Wyndam is an older motel-style property, with drive up parking at the front doors of the rooms. Ask for an upstairs room to avoid noise. It consists of many buildings surrounding a chandeliered lobby building. Despite the grand lobby to welcome you, there are lots of crumbling areas in and around the hotel, but they try very hard to make the interior rooms glamorous with super comfy beds, loads of pillows and soft white sheets Wyndam style. Many of the rooms are two-room suites with two TV sets. Sadly no in-room internet, but there are two computers available 24/7 in the lovely lobby building and they'll cheerfully make free copies and fax for you. Security is dangerous due to the concert area, with lots of nearby strip clubs and bars and folks just passing through. Use a car if you need to get around. There are security guards walking the property, but that just proves you might need them. Cars are very safe in the parking lot but I recommend you lock them and don't leave anything in view. Inside the rooms, the rating should get 2.5 Stars...the property itself gets only 2-stars...elevators, walkways and parking lots are old and dirty. Location gets 4 stars for convenience, brownie points for some of the best family restaurants in San Diego within arm's reach. Lets face it: any hotel within a mile of an In-n-Out burger drive thru gets bonus points! Only three miles from Old Town San Diego and five miles from downtown's lovely Seaport village and the airport. Sea World is about 10 miles west. Zoo is 15 miles east. more

I just want take the time to let you know about our time in your hotel. My son and I stayed at this hotel for his football tournament, we had a jr. Suite with two double beds, the room was clean and it did accommodate our needs, we requested quotes from different hotel but this hotel was able to work with our budget, I have to thanks the Sales Manager EdelVernazza who was there for us even though half of my team were not able to go, she help us with all our needs going out of her duties to make my team feel good and to make sure we received the best services, and one important thing to make us feel safe, after reading some reviews some of the parents was afraid to stay at this hotel, she went out to the lobby to introduce her self, it did felt good to know that our business was very important for her, she took the time to set up a little package for my parents with a nice letter and a huge list of restaurant, the front desk staff was very helpful, the pool was awesome my kids love it, the bad thing was parking very small space for our vehicles, beside that everything went well. We can't wait for next year tournament, now we have a place to stay. more

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. Front desk staff Bianca was extremely helpful, and friendly. She made great recommendations on places to eat in the area nearby. She answered all questions we had. This hotel is a great place to stay if you are looking for somewhere close to the zoo and sea world. We would definitely stay here again! more

This hotel was decent for the price we payed. The location is not its best. Your not that close to the Disneyland parks... They did have an AWESOME Shuttle Service, was there on time both days we used it. Going and coming back was not a hassle, but it was also not walking distance to the Disney Parks. The room was nice sized we stayed on the 5th floor... we had two queen beds and a bathroom. Yes there was fridge but no Microwave, which many ""family"" hotels usually do have one in the rooms and sometimes is ""expected"". more

Stayed here since I got a good deal and thinking the Wynham was a decent hotel. Checked in and was helped by the manager in charge who was very nice. Parking spots are a lil tight and had to locate one that wasn't as small to avoid dings on the new car but this close to the beach is expected. more
