Polite Staff, Rude Managment 1/1/2012

The manager, Tudy, has been the rudest employee I’ve ever dealt with, in any industry, throughout my entire life. On September 25, during the New York @ Oakland game, the game’s coverage of the final 2 minutes was transferred from cable to DirectTV. Your bar tender, Carrie, realized this within 30 seconds, and she changed a television over to satellite. Shortly thereafter, DSS cut the feed of the game. This was zero fault for your restaurant. Carrie was even so polite as to occasionally check my game’s channel to see if coverage had been restored. Having had DirectTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket at home for the previous ten years of my life, I knew if I called the company on your behalf, DSS could restore the video feed. Tudy walked by, so I figured the manager might be able to help me get the phone number for DirectTV. When I inquired if she might be able to assist me, she angrily snapped back at me saying how she wasn’t going to change the channel back from the broncos game. This upset me, because the Broncos game was on 4 other televisions in the same room. I figured she was just having a bad day, so I sucked it up, paid my bill, tipped my bar tender, and moved on with my life. Today, Januray 1st, I showed up 45 minutes early for the San Diego @ Oakland game. I asked Carrie if she might be able to guarantee me a television for that game. She said, “I don’t have a Crystal Ball, but I’ll see what I can do.” I know money talks, so I bought a meal and two beers in good faith. Halfway through the second quarter, Tudy came by and changed the channel without consulting anyone. Shocked, I immediately said, “ Woah, woah, woah.” She turned towards me then yelled at me how she was tired of me complaining when she changes the channel. I admit my choice of words was poor as I responded, “Do you want me to pay?” She berated me further before relenting and changing the channel back. At this point I was feeling rather irate. Her lack of professionalism disturbed me. I’ve been a drive thru cashier, a bus boy, a waiter, and a delivery driver; in all my years, I’ve never seen a service industry employee lose their temper at a costumer. What made it worse was that she was THE MANAGER. I felt sorry for your staff to have to deal with such an angry leader that attempts to motivate with fear and shame. I knew your staff couldn’t come to ownership without being labeled a rat, so I felt compelled to do the right thing. I told a young waitress that Tudy had treated me disrespectfully and asked if there was a way I could contact ownership. Her face lit up with joy, and she RAN back with your business card. This surprised me, so I figured I could do an unofficial survey for you. I discussed what had happened to me with another waitress and bus boy, who both enthusiastically agreed with me. Further, the two suggested that an employee named Tim was deserving of promotion. I haven’t met the guy, but I felt your staff needed a voice. In Trudy’s defense, the 3rd employee, and older waiter with a go-tee, defended her. At this point, Trudy noticed the oddity that I was talking to her staff, so she came over and once again yelled at me. I questioned her professionalism for yelling a repeat costumer, which certainly didn’t calm down the situation down. At this point I was just faking a smile as she her continued her verbal assault on me. Tudy even dared me to contact management. Apparently, she feels her relationship with you is so strong that she is invincible to any possible repercussions. Knowing there was no higher authority present at the restaurant, so I apologized for something I didn’t do. I shook her hand, then turned around and watched the football game. I tipped my wonderful bar tender, Carrie, $15 on a $20 ticket, paid my bill, and went home. more

The pizza doesnt make up for the horrible customer service! 6/12/2011

Great pizza. Management was awful... She should not be in the hospitality industry. She had no customer service skills, talked down to customers in front of other customers and employees! If a manager of a restaurant can't deal with the stress of literally 3 tables being sat at once- she shouldn't be a manager! I love woody's and have been coming here for over 7 years... I work in the hotel industry and will never recommend a visitor to Denver to eat there again! I will never go back because of Tootie the manager! more

woody's = pizza to die for. 1/29/2011

Great pizza, great service and a really nice place to be. 2/6/2009

My wife and I go to Woodys in Golden every couple of weeks or so. We like it after our Yoga class. We have never been disappointed in the food or the service. The staff is very friendly and so are the customers. It is a really nice atmosphere. Good for adults and kids. Best salad bar around and the all you can eat pizza, soup and salad special for about 10 bucks is one of the best deals around. We have never been treated badly at Woody's. Thanks to all of you. Cons: Parking can be a bit tough, but is usually available on the street. more

great pizza, bad employees 12/13/2008

You are lucky if your server is the tall bald guy (Matt?), otherwise you should leave. We have given this location too many chances to be just average and they continue to fail. We love the pizza, but the hostess, servers, bartender, and even female manager have been rude or otherwise could care less to have our business. Pros: pizza Cons: people who work there more

Best Denver pizza, hands down 9/26/2008

I haven't had pizza anywhere close to as good as this in Denver, though their burgers are also quite good (I hear from my family). From the quality of the crust, to the quality of the ingredients and variety, they are superior. Great atmosphere and customer service. The salad bar is also very good. The all you can eat salad and pizza is well priced. I've been there many times and can't tear myself away from that deal. One of my favorite places in town. I'll travel from Southeast Denver to get there. All around super place. more

Lunch Time Salad Bar! 9/19/2008

Yes, I said it - this pizza place has a great salad bar! I often go there for lunch just to have the super fresh veggies and tasty ranch dressing. Of note - the salad bar is small - but what it lacks in size - it makes up for in freshness! I'm not even going to mention the pizza...this review is all about the salad! Pros: Salad Bar! Microbrews! more

Nothing like it anywhere else 8/10/2008

Nothing else like it! We lived in Golden for many years and it was always a treat to go to Woody's. Now we are in Florida and miss it a lot. Great soup with the salad bar, fantastic pizza that you can't find anywhere else. The experience is unique as you can choose to go to the pizza kitchen area and watch the pizza's being made, take which ever flavor of pizza that is up and ready ,and if your favorite isn't up at that time you can request it. Woody's serves great beer on tap too!\r We always make it a point to stop in when we are in town visiting. Pros: great pizza, beer Cons: can be a bit crowded on certain events more

I Love this place 1/18/2008

Great pizza in a rustic setting. Service is great. If you want fancy dining, go to Boulder. Best wood oven pizza I have ever had. Lots of variety to choose from or they will make you one. Go on a week day as it can get very business on the weekend. We drive all the way to Littleton for the pizza. Pros: Great Great Pizza Cons: Pizza area cramped. Salad bar only fair. more

this place was gross 1/4/2008

goldfish are not supposed to be in a salad bar. the pizza buffet was as small as it was crowded. if you want more than one slice at a time you should just order your own. the pizza itself reminded me of chuck e. cheese except there was no ball pit to play in. if you held your hand out and i spat in it, you would be more satisfied than if you ate here. Pros: goldfish Cons: the air tasted like the brewery smells. more

GREAT PIZZA 9/22/2007

I love pizza and Woody's is terrific. The crust is thick and the pizza really is cooked in a wood fired oven. The selection on pizza is infinite. That's because, you can ask them to make what you want and they will. The menu is very nice, but my husband and I can't resist the buffet. The salad bar is small and packed with all sorts of good salad stuff. They have several dressings and toppings. They have this soup that sounds awful to me and tastes wonderful. It's beer cheese soup. I've even had some in the summer because it tastes so good. The atmosphere is perfect for a pizza burger place, and not commercial. Woody's also has a couple of interesting desserts, especially their big cookie with ice cream. When we have friends visit, I always want to take them to Woody's. Service is good and the place is clean. Waits can be long if you time your visit wrong. I can't pinpoint when it's the busiest. We just wait. The pizza is worth it. Pros: Great pizza, good menu. Cons: Nothing I can think of at this minute. more

Great Pizza buffet 9/15/2006

The pizza is top rate. They have a regular menu with all sorts of burgers and sandwiches and pizza, but our favorite thing to do is just order the buffet. With the buffet you get a salad bar, cheese soup and all the pizza you can eat. You can even request a type of pizza and they will make it and put it on the buffet. (My husband even orders odd things like jalepeno, olive, and sausage, and they will still make it!) It takes about 15 min so it's good to request it while ordering your drinks. They have several of thier own specialty pizzas that you can usually count on being there like buffalo chicken pizza, BBQ bacon cheeseburger pizza, California dreamin pizza (sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, etc), and the traditional stuff too. \r It is a family friendly sports bar type of atmosphere. The service is usually pretty good too. We've been to the one in Arvada and in Golden. We like the Golden one because it's fun to walk around the historic downtown. Pros: Great Pizza, great prices Cons: Sometimes a little loud, but it can be fun that way more
