I am always amazed at the people who write reviews. They are usually only the people who want to complain, and are usually from outside the area who have relocated here. It is pretty dumb in my opinion to order, eat then try to use a coupon you had not confirmed prior to ordering was eligible. Who would think one could use an additional coupon on a two for one special? We have lived here nearly twenty years and like Woody's very much for the food, service and value. Two great steaks for the price of one is really a good deal, and I would never expect to pull a coupon out after the fact on that deal. I recommend it highly, in fact I think I might go there in about an hour! more

RUINED ANNIVERSARY 1/9/2012

I wanted to do something special for our 29 wedding anniversary! I was expecting a romantic evening with great food and atmosphere. What I got was bad service & worst food. We ordered fried mushrooms. They were great. You get a plate of the biggest fried mushrooms I have ever seen, but you get very little horseradish dipping sauce. It took me about 10 min to get our waitress. I asked for more dipping sauce. I never received it. My husband's glass set empty for almost 20 minutes. The hostess finally came by and I asked her if she would get him some diet Pepsi. There was only two other tables when we got there. after we got our mushrooms 3 more tables were set. One of them got their appetizers & dinner before we got our dinner. About 10 minutes after they got their dinner my husband stopped the waitress and asked her what was taking so long? She said she would check. She brought our food out it was cold. The baked potato would not even melt the butter & was hard. The seafood was frozen not fresh. It had no flavor! You couldn't eat the grouper at all. The crab cakes were not very good. The shrimp was just ok. The fries were greasy. My steak was good. We split it and the rolls were good. We ask for more rolls with our meal but never received them. I don't mind paying higher prices for great food & service, but to pay over $56 for the meal we got here was robbery. I will never return to this restaurant again. more

WORST PLACE EVER!!! 11/10/2011

where do I start: Bathrooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months, they smelled like very strong urine, medium steak was well-done, waitress said: ""kids menu is steak, chicken or shrimp (AFTER GETTING BILL--kids steak meal was $9! without a drink), our rice was still hard and the hushpuppies were not done. We had BOGO free and our meal was $57 -- we paid and got out of there in a hurry! Yuck! more

OK FOOD...HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT! 7/6/2011

First off, let me say that I never write reviews, but I just came back from Woody's and I had to write this one. My girlfriend and I decided to go to Woody's because she paid for a Sharing Spree coupon and we were dying to get some steak. Woody's has a special on its filet mignon (2 for 1) on Wednesdays as well as a piano player all night. Sounded great! We got there around 6:45 and waited a good twenty minutes for a table. When we sat down, we perused the menu, ordered an appetizer of fried mushrooms and two filet mignon dinners that came with one side each. I had a stuffed potato and my girlfriend had asparagus. In addition, we each got a glass of wine. The mushrooms came out in good time and, I must say, were very good. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. And, lucky for us, it was a large portion because we waited FOREVER to get the steaks. When they finally came out we were starving. The steaks were decent. The potato was overdone and a little burnt on the outside. The asparagus...well, it's pretty hard to screw up asparagus. But, let me cut to the interesting part... the bill. As I mentioned before, we had a coupon for our meal and when the bill came out and we tried to use it, our waitress pointed out that, since we got the 2 for 1 deal, they couldn't apply it to our total. We quickly pointed out that on the coupon it clearly states in large print, ""Come take advantage of our 2 for 1 Filet Mignon..."" The waitress kindly said she would consult with her manager and left momentarily. When she came back, her manager was with her and, here comes the fun part, insisted that the fine print said that we couldn't use it with the 2 for 1 deal, their computer wouldn't accept the coupon with our bill and that they didn't write the whole bit about taking advantage of the deal (that was all Sharing Spree!). We kept pointing to the huge line about taking advantage of the deal, but the manager wouldn't have it. We would have to dissolve the deal and pay full price for each meal. To add insult to injury, the table behind us asked what was going on and the manager acted like we were trying to hustle them and weasel our way out of paying the full bill. My girlfriend was extremely upset and when our waitress came back to give us the amended bill she noticed that she was visibly distressed and told us to hold on. She left and when she came back she was shaking her head. She said she did everything she could do but her boss wouldn't budge. (I mean the freakin' waitress was taking our side and we still got the shaft!) We thanked her for trying and reviewed the new bill. The steak dinners we ordered were identical, yet one was more than the other. We soon learned that, even though it was not labeled accordingly on the menu, my stuffed potato cost additional money. We pretty much threw up our hands at that point, payed the bill, and headed for the door. On the way out, we thanked our waitress who apologized for her management's behavior. She was very sweet and had our back through the entire ordeal. We then left in a huff...my girlfriend was hurt and furious to say the least. We felt taken advantage of. We got there at 6:45 and left at 10! We were some of the last people there! So not only were we insulted and belittled, we wasted 3+ hours at a restaurant that, in all honesty, is mediocre at best. Pathetic! Unprofessional! Ridiculous! This is not how you treat people. This is not how you treat customers. Instead of getting repeat business from us and telling our friends about what a pleasant evening we had, the management at this restaurant thought that making an additional $20 was worth it. DO NOT GO TO WOODY'S! more

Like My Grandmothers House 5/17/2011

My wife and I have been in Hendersonville now for almost seven years, and just about everyday one of us was driving right by Woody's. We both love a good steakhouse, but never stopped in. Well my P.I. of a wife started looking into the place, it had good re views aznd thoughts wrote about across the web. But then Ally ran across some people writing about how Woody's is haunted. And the spector is called George, well the next weekend we were going. It was 05/07/11 we pulled into the parking lot and it was pretty full. We do love the pravate fenced lot that you dont have to pay to park. We made our way to the front and when walked in we were meet with a smell that was like walking into my grandma's house after she had been cooking all day. It was amazing, then nicest young lady greeted us and took us to our table. On the way to be sat we happened by a baby grand piano being played, and I love piano bars. Our server started out with asking us if we had ever ate with them before and when we told her no she fired back with welcome to the family, thats cool. We ordered a bottle of pinot nior, Mark West. We are suckers for crab cakes so we tried em, they were good. House salads were good, Ally had the Sherry beef pasta and for me was the cowboy ribeye. That ribeye was great and it filled me up. The waitress asked if we wanted dessert, we declined and she told us all about contest they win with their different cheesecakes. We declined again, she bought us a piece of mudslide cheesecake to go. The next night we split it. Holy cow amazing. We do like Woody's and it is Hendersonville's anchor. more

Will be back next week. 4/21/2011

Me and my boyfriend went to Woody's tonight for our 1 yr anniversary. The piano lounge was very romantic and the waitress was very friendly. We started off with the crab cake appetizer. They we so delicious with their remualde sauce. For the entree we had the the steak for two dinner. Our steaks were cooked medium rare n were perfect!! I've had Woody's steak about a year ago, and I've yet found a better steak around. Also make sure you bring cash, because they dont except credit cards... but the excellent food makes up for this slight inconvience. We will be back next Thursday most definatly. more

Will Never Go Again 4/20/2011

I had heard good and bad about Wood's and wanted to find out if was any good. We actually hated it. The lighting was so dim, we could hardly find our table, much less read the menu. One customer asked if they could turn up the lights a little. I ordered chicken terriaki. It was more like burnt BBQ and it smelled so bad I had (really and truly smelled like baby poo) to kind of hold my napkin over my nose to keep from gagging. I managed to eat about a 4th and just couldn't eat any more. My husband was not at all pleased with his steak either. We will not be going back. We went on a Groupon, so I didn't say anything. But, believe me, if I had been paying for the meal, we would have had a discussion with the manager. I will definitely not recommend it to anyone. more

Best steak in Nashville. 4/5/2011

Went there last Wednesday for their special 2 for 1 filet mignon. Was hands down the best steak I ever ate. It was a really relaxing atmosphere, kinda reminded me of a historic mansion. The service was excellent, it was overall a great dining experience. We will definatly be coming back on wednesdays for this amazing special. more

piano bar 1/18/2011

I used to go to Woody's a lot when I lived in town and always loved the food and staff. I was back in town last week and was delighted to see the piano bar there. My husband and I had a great time. The woman playing the piano was Teresa, I believe, and she was awesome. Hope to visit Woody's again when I'm in town. more

David Was Just As Good As The Steak 9/30/2010

Loved it loved it. Took a date last night for the piano bar, and a friend told me about the special in the middle of the week. 2 for one steak night on wednesdays, so we hit the jackpot. We had two filets that were great, several glasses of wine and sat by the piano all night. I do believe the fellow behind the piano was David. And he is good. loved it. more

Always a treat 5/15/2010

My husband and I first tried Woody's a year ago, and fell in love with the atmosphere. The outer dining room is dated and does not have much atmosphere, but the inner room with piano and lounge singer are so neat! Candlelit and romantic! The food is always excellent. We consider this our personal secret and hesitate to tell our friends because we don't want company! Pros: awesome food, retro piano bar Cons: outdated decor more

Ordered The Porterhouse 1/3/2010

Just moved to Hendersonville from Nashville, and had heard of Woody's Steakhouse. Never tried it though until moving, a customer of ours lives in Hendersonville and raved on the place. We went Saturday night(01/02/10) and had a wonderful meal. We ordered a appitizer which is something I dont do but the cajun shrimp starter was calling my name. I ordered the porterhouse steak that was the special, and I did not see it on their menu. My lovly date had the filet, both of those steaks were great, cooked perfect and very tender. They also tasted good with alot of flavor. I have not had a steak like that in a while. Now I do like the fact that the restaurant is some where around seventy years old but the old house is realy old. They sure cook a mean steak though. Very Good. Pros: Porterhouse steak Cons: oldhouse more

Great Party 10/29/2009

Had my wifes birthday party at Woody's, we had a large number of people show up and everything went fine. Had a private dinning room, which was nice food was great and service was really good. Sweet and sassy did our cake and it came out good too. Pros: Steaks Cons: Location more

small menu packed full of flavor 9/23/2009

highly recommend woody's, now the sign out front and the menus say Woody's Steak House. But I checked the address and its the same. one thing I liked about woody's was the the private parking lot with a fence, it gave us a sence of security. we walked in and the smell was wonderful it made me even more hungry. we were able to get a table near the piano which was really nice not to loud. the wine list is good, our salads were very fresh crisp. the STEAKS were fab. she had the filet and i had the ribeye the steaks were very tender and full of wonderful taste. this is a steak place and they do it right. we ordered a piece of vanilla-bean cheesecake for the road. and later that night it was the perfect end. Pros: steaks more

Woodys Steakhouse 7/26/2009

I never knew Woodys Steakhouse did Catering till a friend told me about an event they had catered by woodys and also told me how great the food was. My daughter was getting married and I remembered Woodys while planning. I gave Woody and a call and received a price for what we needed. I called around and to my surprise no one even came close to the price I had received from Woody. We had them cater the rehearsal and the reception. WOW, the food was absolutely amazing. The Chef and his crew were very polite and went over and beyond to make all the guest happy. I will definitly use Woodys Steakhouse for all my catering needs in the future. Pros: Everything more

True Steakhouse 7/18/2009

Loved It loved it loved it loved it. And a piano bar. loved that too. Woody's Steak House, I cant stop thanking how good the steaks were. I also cant wait to go back. This place is so old, and cute. Best place I have eaten in Nashville. Pros: Country Music Stars , Service , Food more

Most Awesome Food... 3/29/2009

I have to say this is one of the best Steakhouses I have discovered. Woody's Steakhouse is not a chain restaurant. It has been in one family for over 60 years. Steaks are still hand cut and the rolls, dressings and desserts are all made by the owner and staff. You also can't beat their prices for the amount of food you get. In addition, they have wonderful piano music on Saturday nights so you can relax and have a great evening with that special someone... You will find the staff at Woody's are some of the areas best. Each time I have been in, they have always been very professional and do their best to make you feel special. Pros: Best Steaks in town Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Amazing service and food 3/4/2009

I recently had a birthday party in the upstairs room. The party was amazing due to the wonderful servers and the outstanding food. My guest had a choice between prime rib, ribeye and grouper everyone said the food was perfect. I had the prime rib I would say it was the best I have ever eaten, the flavor was wonderful! The servers went out of their way to accommodate my requests, they even helped me decorate. Everyone had a great time we would definitely recommend Woodys to everyone! Pros: The servers Sharon and Carrie more

Simply Awesome 2/26/2009

Wednesday night Woodys was packed. How can they run a Two Filets for $20 special. And stay in business, I don't know but man it was good. There was a wait for a table so we went to the bar or according to the sign the LOUNGE which had live music. Some thing I never knew they did. And that is what Hendersonville needs. The hostest finally came and got us and put us at table so we could still hear the music. Which we thought was sweet of her. Speaking of sweet our server was so nice. She took good care of us even with it being so busy. And there was some country music guy eating that everybody was making over. So the people watching was good too. And we are planing on going back one saturday night to the lounge, our server said they turn it into a piano bar on saturday nights. Pros: Price on Wednesdays more
