They don't even deserve the one star you are forced to enter just to publish your testimony. The owners apparently have a very immoral culture at Woody's if six or seven bouncers feel free to ""set up"" innocent customers by punching them in the face, throwing them down the stairwell (where there are no video cameras), blocking the door so nobody can witness the assault, and beating the customers senseless, kicking them in the head and face and back and stomach while they are lying at the bottom of the stairwell unable to defend themselves against a gang of 300+-lb bouncers. Afterward, they simply LIE about it by making up a story like, ""he threw a punch at me."" I happen to know one of their victims and know this victim did nothing wrong except sit in a chair someone else wanted, who threw a drunken hissy fit to try to get the chair. Even though he gave up the seat, the bouncers still came over and decided he needed to be ""taught a lesson."" For WHAT? Giving up his seat to a drunk ""lady"" patron? These bouncers and the owner should be in JAIL for assault and battery. Where is the Oakland County prosecuting attorney? Why don't the Royal Oak police arrest these losers? more

Does not even deserve a star!!! I went to attend a bachelorette party here Friday night and first the bartender was absolutely rude. I ordered 2 shots of patron, three times the shots had to be dumped out because there were stuff floating in the drink!!! Its either in the drink itself is contaminated with who knows what or the plastic cups (yes plastic cups!!!!!) were not clean. The bartender was frustrated he was making it the fourth time and thought he could just sell it to me with black stuff floating on it!!!!! Im not an idiot so I told him I don't want to drink whatever they make there anymore! So before you decide to get drunk and drink there make sure you look at what your drinking and please for your health safety don't order anything dark or you won't be able to see the dark stuff floating in you drink!! And if you decide to go there be warned ladies... it's all 16-18 year old boys trying to pretend they are over 21!!!! A lot were in there with fake IDs!! more

I wish I would've seen these posts before last night. I will never go back to this bar. They are crooks. All the bartenders charge more drinks to your tab than what you actually order. If you do go, either pay cash, or keep a close count on what you get. And when you try to inquire about your bill, the bartenders will treat you very poorly. They will imply that your drunk and therefore don't know what you're talking about, or that you are cheap. They have absolutely no respect for the customer. This place is the pits! Went there on Monday, June 30th, 2008 and was served by rudest bartender I have ever had the sorry misfortune of running into. The service was the worst I have ever encountered in all the years I have been going into Royal Oak. They charge top dollar for their drinks and meals, then they treat the customer like dirt. DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS!! Go anywhere else but here. \r \r With the economy the way it is, you would think customer service would be important to a restaurant. We were so disappointed with the service we received at Woody's in Royal Oak on Saturday. A large group arrived just as I was handing our server payment. Instead of returning with our change (about $20), the waitress decided to serve drinks to this group. I repeatedly asked for our change, and even chased the waitress across the restaurant in an attempt to get MY MONEY back. I was told ""wait one minute."" I had already waited 30 minutes - and was taking up one of their tabels while waiting. I finally found a manager who, instead of trying to do damage control with me, yelled at the waitress to give me my money. I finally got it after 45 minutes. Bottom line: They were not staffed for a Saturday night, and obviously don't hire the best employees. Oh, and did I mention our food order came out wrong? Worst dining experience ever. I will never return, and plan to tell all my neighbors in Royal Oak. With so many great restaurants in that city, there's no reason to return to Woody's. Cons: Service, food more

This is a great place to go for lunch. You get a sports bar atmosphere, without the smoke and bad service. They have plenty of TV's (great place to watch the tigers over lunch), the menu has a lot of variety and the food is actually pretty good. Also, the tables move easliy so its good for groups. Woody's could be such a great place with the location and all but it's like a keg party instead. Made for interesting people watching though theres always a chance that one of the huge bouncers will fight one of the huge meat heads that shows up. You would think a dance club would have a DJ right? Wrong they have a guy who looks like he's playing in a booth but he's actually playing a mix tape! I love hip hop and dance music and have seen tons of DJ's, so when the DJ started to bust out with a ridiculously good scratch I looked up to check it out. He was standing with his back to the crowd talking to a couple of guys? Strange I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone over 21 if your 18 with a fake you'll fit in great!! I spoke to the manager two weeks before planning a bachelorette party to find out what the cover was, if we had to wait in line (all the details you need to plan a bachelorette party). The manager told me that there was no cover and we could come right in if we gave him the name of the party at the door. WRONG. When we arrived at the bar, the manager lied and said he had never talked to us - even though I had called and confirmed one day prior to the party. The manager was incredbly rude and disrespectful and basically called me a liar. It took us almost 40 minutes of arguing before he let us in the door. It's funny because all of the other bars were so professional and accommodating. I would never go back there. WORST SERVICE EVER. At least 5 minutes went by after we sat down before getting any menus. Server checked back only one time, immediately after our food was brought out, before we barely got a bite in. I had to stop her as she was walking past our table counting her money, to bring me a water. I never got it so I had to go the bar, as did everyone else in my party for their next drink. We specifically asked for separate checks at the beginning, but one check was brought out to us, after again much waiting. We would have gone upstairs to dance after but didn't want to pay cover and give this place any more of our money. Go to O'Tooles, 5th Ave, or anywhere in Ferndale instead! more

My friends and I will never visit Woody's again. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.\r We had a bad experience the first time we visitied Woody's, and decided to give it another try. The second time was worse than the first.\r We went upstairs to the bar area and the ""meat head"" bouncers were very disrespectfuland pushy to our party and the other party's around us. \r I've worked in a bar/restaunt setting throughout college and I have never seen bouncers be so disrespectufl and use thier authority to intimidate others as much as these 2 boys did. After leaving my tab open on a Saturday night, I returned to Woody's on Sunday to get my credit card and pay my tab. When my credit card could not be found, I was told it was in the safe with the bartender's drawer and that a manager was needed to open the safe. But no manager was there. I was told to come back the following day. So I did and then I was told the manager was too busy to take 2 minutes and retrieve my credit card from the safe because he was busy with a carry-out order (I must add that the restaurant was virtually empty and not busy at all). I was told I could not see him and to call back at 2:00pm. After calling at 2:00, I was told the manager was not there. I have yet to see my credit card after two full days. This is very scary for a credit card user. That is two days someone could have been using my credit card without my knowledge.\r \r Woody's customer service is horrible. They should take a few minutes out of their time to make frequent customers feel like they matter. more

The food here is average. The specials usually are better than most of the regular menu items. The ribs are good. Beer selection is good, and the mixed drink selection is great. Great Bar to hangout and watch people or to go so people can watch you. And you don't necessarily have to wear all black to get in. more
