The only good review this place will get is from the owner. 9/16/2008

Do not waste your time or money. The service is terrible and the food is worse. I ordered the $50 porter house which for a good steakhouse is a reasonable price that I don't mind paying. The steak was bland and overcooked when I asked for medium. My wife's food was also terrible. $150 for drinks / dinner and we had to stop at Taco Bell on the way home that night. I walk past the front doors of this place and it's usually empty on a friday/saturday night. This should be your first clue. I honestly cannot believe this place is still in business. Hopefully they will go under and Bolingbrook will reclaim its wasted space that is Woodlands with a good restaurant. If you're looking for higher end dining in Bolingbrook, the only place in town is Branmors (which isn't very high end). After our poor experience with Woodlands, we went next door to the irish bar for a few drinks. We began asking the waitresses / bartenders about Woodlands. They chuckle and remark "EVERYONE complains about that place". My wife and I are no strangers when it comes to going out for higher end dining. I actually left Woodlands angry and hungry. Angry enough to write this review. Stay away from here. Woodlands is horrible. more

Good to avoid anyday that ends with a "Y" 7/28/2008

I'm not one to really trash a place on an internet blog but I couldn't eat or hold down any food for four days after eating at Woodlands Bolingbrook and I want other people to know to watch out. I reported it to the proper agency and the lady I spoke with said they have only been open for one year and had four complaints. Whoa, not cool. I can't determine if my food was cross contaminated or just undercooked because my girlfriend had no complaints besides the waterfalls kept making her have to go the bathroom and the martini tasted watered down. And $15 for that martini! Highway robbery, just check your bill because it looked like they overcharged us bigtime I think they owe me one after spending the rest of the weekend on the can. Pros: Hot hostesses Cons: Everything else more

Great service, very good meal 7/11/2008

We went to Woodlands at the Promenade last night for dinner and had a great experience. Our server was fantastic, the meal was great, and the atmosphere was beautiful. When I made reservations, the hostess asked if it was any special occasion. I told her that it was a belated anniversary dinner for my husband and I. They ended up bringing us champagne before dinner and comp-ing our dessert. It was a very nice touch to an already great meal. I know other reviews mention poor service, but we had anything but. The only thing was that the restaurant was almost empty, so it was a bit uncomfortable to have all the waitstaff just standing around. Other than that, we had a thoroughly enjoyable night out there. Pros: great service, great food Cons: a bit pricey more

Bad Experience! 7/1/2008

It is really a shame they are wasting such a nice location, beautiful building, and ambience on such a poorly run crapshoot restaurant with crappy service, poor management, and horrible food. Pros: Architecture Cons: Everything else: food, service, value, Don't waste your time! more

Never Ever Go Here, Seriously Never! 6/6/2008

First of all the only good I experienced was from the host. After that it was a crash and burn experience. I went to woodlands on a Friday night, and what do you know it was slow. For a Friday I should have noticed this and turned right around and left. If a place is slow Friday then they have something wrong. The server took 10 min to get to the table. We ordered the mussels and they were over cooked and chewy. Again should of left but stayed. I got the salmon and my wife got the Bone in fillet. The salmon was dry and did not taste like it was cooked on the wood but just sat there. The barley was mushy and the salad was too small next to the barley. My wife thought the fillet was under done for taking about 25 min on med rare. To top that the fillet cost $50 bucks, yes I said FIFTY. What a rip off. While we were waiting this long time for the main entree we got drinks from the bar. The server got it all wrong, my wife wanted the house red but got the white, and my gin was warm. We talked to this big man of a manager but he really did nothing for us. We ended up getting dessert from this big man. What takes 20 min for a dessert? Is the dessert cook slow or something? Overall never ever go here ever. Pros: The Look! Cons: Everything else! Management! more
