Really chill spot 12/30/2009

This place is the best bar on lincoln in my opinion. In contrast to the other Lincoln Park bars in the area the people who stop in are almost always really nice and laid back and the staff is extremely helpful, quick and attentitive. The prices are crazy low for the area as well. I definitely recommend going in to check it out for yourself! Try their hot cocoa with rumpleminze!!!! Pros: Good music, cool people Cons: - more

Cheap drinks, great atmosphere 12/15/2009

This place was really great to hang out in! Decided to pop in on a thursday to hang out and relax with a couple friends after work. Right away when we walked in the bartender was all smiles and asking us how we were. She served all four of us a miller lite and it only added up to $8, this rarely happens in the city, especially in Lincoln Park! We hung out for a while and played bags but were disappointed when we wanted to play beer pong and there were 3 other teams waiting for the table. Either way, the place was great and everyone was really friendly and we didn't run our bank accounts negative...overall win! Pros: $2 beers $3 cocktails Cons: long wait for the beer pong table more

Great Place for draft domestic beers!! 11/25/2009

The night started off a little slow but since we were in super early thats to be expected. But it did give us room to play beer pong and bags which I haven't played in forever. Plus it was awesome to actually sit and get to know the bartenders. Our tab after 2 hours was ridiculously cheap!!! For how many beers we had it was amazing!! Before it got super crowded we headed out but it looked like everyone was rocking out and having a great time. Pros: $2 miller lights coors lights high lifes, $3 Blue moons! Cons: NONE!! more

Beer games and dog friendly 9/16/2009

it's a small bar but nice to hangout in. gotta love a place that has beer pong in the back i come here with my friends all thetime on a tuesday or wednesday and pretty much have the place to ourselves...the music on fridaysis usually pretty chill and there'sa lot of people here.. Pros: beer pong, bags, pool, darts, live music fridays Cons: can get crowded on fridays more

Great Place for a Great Night Out 9/3/2009

Live bands friday nights, great drink prices... 2$ miller light, coors light, and high life EVERYDAY... who can beat that! The bar staff is amazing! Also, there is beer pong and bags. People can bring their dogs into the bar! The owners cute and friendy dog is always around! It is a great place for both a relaxing day out in Lincoln Park and for an amazing night out! Pros: dog friendly, beer pong, great drink prices Cons: none!!! more

Lovin Live Music 8/14/2009

Super clean bar with lots of entertainment. If we werent listening to live music we would get in a crazy bag game!! Love it. Pros: Great Music Cons: Cant find a Con? more

The whole town knows you had an awesome time! 3/30/2009

Been there a couple times now, we go more frequently as of late, here's top 10 reasons why: (PS, im bored at work, so i figured i would document my weekend on citysearch reviews) 10) Live Music, wasn't great, but it was still fun and cheap 9) Hot bartenders/servers 8) Nice bouncers/doorguys, not there to be intimidating 7) No line, nice crowd, wasn't "shoulder to shoulder" crowded 6) Touch screen music before the band went on 5) No annoying 18yr old Depaul Kids 4) Dog Friendly 3) I met the owner, he was cool 2) $2 Domestic Drafts! But for those of us that liked specialty beers, they had a wide variety 1) I have a big group of friends, with different interests and agendas when they go out, yet, everyone of them seems to feel good about going here often. Thats tought to find in the city. Holler. No doubt, 5 stars, see for yourself. Pros: $2 Domestic Drafts, a TON of other beers on draft too! Cons: For what my friends like in a bar, no cons. more

Not you typical Lincoln Park Bar! 12/15/2008

Everytime I've been to Wise Fools it has been crowded but not with the little lincoln park kiddies or annoying lines. Just a fun-loving, beer drinking, awesome crowd. I never really considered myself a beer drinker before WFP but now I'm obsessed! There's a beer for everyone here! Also, sweet weekend beer specials.. so even if you want a good beer you can still only pay $3. Not to mention their fun and inviting staff! There are few bars in Lincoln Park that I can even stand to go to but WFP is a regular for me! :) Pros: Great people, great beer, great prices, great fun! Cons: No kitchen but you can order delivery and eat it in the bar! Who wants ify bar food anyways?? more

Best Bar on Lincoln 12/10/2008

Deffinitely more than your average college bar that is most of the bars on Lincoln avenue. Not only does WFP have awesome beer specials, usually a dollar draft every night of the week, but also awesome premium beer that rotates constantly. So if your looking to try more than a bud lite but also want a $1 highlife; WFP is the place to be. There are live bands every friday and DJs every saturday. The dance floor gets bumbin' all the time. So come say hi to the staff who are all very awesome. Pros: Awesome Music, Great Deals, Delicious Beer, Friendly Staff Cons: not enough days in the week to go there! more

Beer Selection Rules!!!! 11/30/2008

I love beer and Wise Fools Pub has a huge selection. From $3 Purple Haze to $10 Delirium Tremens, the choices are many. They also have great specials for those of you not interested in spending $10 for a beer, they offer $1 Beers almost everyday. They have free bags and darts. The staff is friendly and fun. I think we will go there for New Years Eve. They are doing $65 top shelf and great beer from 9-2am. Check it out if you haven't yet! Pros: Beer, staff, fun, games Cons: No kitchen, but you can order food from elsewhere and get it delivered more

There actually is live music 7 nights a week--a plus if you're looking for something to do on the random week night. For those interested in the Chicago music scene, a perfect alternative to the Metro, Double Door, etc--WFP is definitely more relaxed, although generally a good crowd and great acoustics. The music booking is both local and out-of-town, and the owners really try to find great up-and-coming variety. The staff is excellent--especially if you spend a little time getting to know them. All very friendly. The drinks are relatively cheap and usually pretty strong--unlike in downtown. It's absolutely my favorite bar in the city. Feels like home. Oh, and be sure to park at the Children's Hospital a block away. If you have your parking ticket stamped at the door, it's only $3 for the whole night. Pros: Great music, great atmosphere, cheap drinks Cons: cold in winter more

User review by nowaklove 7/9/2005

There is music on sundays and mondays actually!! there wasnt before but now sundays has a live band and mondays a dj spins 80s its soo much fun!!! Pros: Fun atmosphere, nice staff, cute door guys more

a great time 4/14/2005

I had a great time. I saw an alternative band and it was excellent. It was loud enough to enjoy, but not too loud to socialize. The guy at the door was very helpful and their parking agreement with the hospital makes driving into the city much less of an ordeal. I liked it and would definitely go back! Pros: parking at hospital, excellent music Cons: lack of seating more

  • The Scene
Two rooms, separated by hanging velvet curtains, make up the club. One is the perfect watering hole featuring a beautiful, long wooden bar with mounted TVs, a raised back area with tables and an extensive liquor selection. The adjacent room provides an intimate live music setting with a raised stage, standing room in front and a tiered area in back with several tables.

    The Draw
In 2001, Wise Fools Pub reclaimed its name as a vibrant live music venue. Established in 1968, the club was once the North Side place to see blues by legendary performers like John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon, Mighty Joe Young and Son Seals--the former two recorded live albums there. For a period in the '90s, different owners abandoned live music and changed the club's name to Waterloo. These days, live performances are scheduled five nights a week and run the genre gamut from DJs to alt-country.
