These guys tailored a suit to my specifications in less than 24 hours and did a great job. And that's not even why I recommend them.

Unbelievably rude! Any customer who praises the service of this company probably didn't deal with Willard himself. I have gone their twice and found him to be extraordinarily rude...

If this establishment was good before, it's not anymore. My sister used to get all her son's suits altered here and they did a great job (even though the staff is rude). But recently they have not been consistent. I have a hard time finding dress pants that fit my 7 year old son. I finally found 2 pair but they needed hemmed (just hemmed with a cuff). I picked them up and brought them home - they were AT LEAST an inch too short. How do you screw that up??? I took them back and the woman was very rude. She didn't apologize AT ALL. I told her that I could take the cuff out myself to make them fit but I wanted my money back because I didn't get what I paid for. She spoke to Willard and he said he could fix them and still keep a cuff (I'm really not sure how but we will see). They won't be ready for 3 days. Really?? You advertise same day service but you can't fix your mistake in a day? That is not customer service. And if they aren't right on Friday, you better believe they are going to refund my $ and pay for the pants. I'm not a tailor or even sew well, but I could have pinned and hemmed those pants better (and I will next time)\r \r That's not all. About the same time, my sister had 2 dresses taken in in the waist and bust. I had given them to her and I am much bigger in the bust than she is. She got them back and the waist was fine but they hadn't taken in the bust at all. She wasn't able to wear them to the function as planned. She hasn't yet returned to get them fixed. I mentioned the issue to the woman and she got an attitude with me. I told her that if the dresses were pinned correctly, I don't know how they were so off on the alterations. She told the ""They WERE pinned correctly"". Oh really - Like my son's pants were pinned correctly?? She said that they tell everyone to try on the clothes before they leave (they don't!) and she could have been wearing a different bra on the day they pinned the dress. What? I'd like to know what bra increases your bust size 2 whole sizes! I would be a millionaire! \r \r So if you take your clothes to Willard's you may or may not be getting what you paid for. And if they screw up, they will not apologize, but instead treat you like dirt. \r more

Amazing...and FAST! \r by AprilBride\r I took my rehearsal dinner dress and my wedding gown to Willard's on Monday. I was helped very quickly. My wedding dress was pretty large at the top and needed to be taken in. The skirt of my rehearsal dinner dress made me look 20lbs heavier...no girl wants that. I told them that I wanted them to completely change the skirt of the rehearsal dress to make it a straight skirt rather than having a poof, which made me look heavy. When I returned on Wednesday, they had made my wedding gown fit like a glove! We should have no ""wardrobe malfunctions"" at this wedding! And surprisingly, I was most excited about my rehearsal dress! They had completely removed the skirt, took out all of the poof and made it a straight skirt, just as I had asked. It was better than I could have ever imagined! My rehearsal dress will now be my ""go to"" dress for other people's weddings for cocktail parties. Thank you so much Willard's!!! Your staff and their talent made my day!\r more

Unbelievably rude! Any customer who praises the service of this company probably didn't deal with Willard himself. I have gone their twice and found him to be extraordinarily rude, unprofessional, and unpleasant. He obviously hates his job and his customers. And don't ask him a question, he'll only be condescending. There are a lot of tailors in the St. Louis area. Go to one who does not act like a jerk to his customers. more

Great job on a wedding dress, super fast. 3/24/2009

I brought my designer wedding gown in for alterations. This after looking at 4 other alteration places around town. 2 stated specifically that they altered wedding dresses. One was very expensive,(also a national wedding dress chain). Another was comparable in price but was also a dress boutique and I was unsure of their ability to work with the intricate fabric that my dress was made of. The 3rd was run by a smoker, no way. The 4th had a, for rent sign in the window, I didn't want to run the risk of leaving my dress and then having them close shop with my dress inside. I checked out Willard's and right away I liked what I saw. They are a real professional shop. I read the reviews online. There are 3 positive ones and one negative there. So I decided to go take a look for myself. They have 3 seamstresses. They have a dressing room for you to change in and a 3 way mirror to check things out. The seamstress wasn't sure about the best way to take in the back of my designer gown so the owner came out and did the pinning herself. I told her I wanted a bustle and she showed me a double bustle and I loved it. She noticed that there was a string where some of the beads had come off the dress and they restrung them for me without charge. I thought they would just remove the string but when the dress came back the packet of beads were opened and the beads were restrung. I brought my dress in on Monday afternoon and it was finished on Thursday afternoon. My dress is made of a delicate lace with heavy beadwork with different colored and shaped beads,in a flower and leaf pattern over the entire dress. Their work was seamless. My dress fit me perfectly in the front but was very large in the back and they fixed this. The price for the alteration was less than 1/4 of what the national chain wanted. I highly recommend Willard's for the most complicated jobs. I will be bringing all of my alterations there from now on. Pros: Worked on fabric with intricate beadwork all over it. Cons: I didn't see any. more

Best service and experience I have ever received! 2/23/2009

I have been in the military for many years and have had numerous uniforms altered in various states. After changing duty stations I heard the Willard's was the place to go. I found that not only did they have fast service but they knew where and how to attach my stripes and patches according to regulations! I spoke with the owners upon picking up my uniform and found out they have 2 sons who served in the military. It is nice to know that there is a place where good people take pride in their work and care about the customer. Thumbs up! Pros: Knows their business and how to treat customers. more

Long Time Customer - Great Service & Expertise! 2/23/2009

I have been using Willard's Tailor Shop for almost 20 years and the service, along with their abilities, are top notch. My wife and I have taken numerous suits, overcoats, dresses, shirts, blouses, dress pants, etc. to be tailored and have always received great service. Two of the main characteristics that we like are their expertise and ability to meet your schedule. If a poor review is ever write about Willard?s then they do not know great service or proper dress. Pros: Expediant return and excellent service. more

Rude, unprofessional, not the place for formal alterations. Shady business. 10/14/2008

I took a bridesmaid dress to get altered. Dress was nearly two sizes too big for my frame. Found it strange I was not fitted appropriately. After first alterations the seams did not line up, pieces of the dress missing (i.e. bra clips), excess material not cut after resown. I mentioned my dissatisfaction and after second alteration bra clips were replaced but with different poorly handmade ones. Side seam ripped about 5 inches down one side on my way to the wedding which was 4 hours out of town. Obviously still had to wear the dress (safety pinned-quite embarrassing). Called business multiple times to relay my dissatisfaction with poor service but never received a call back from management. Finally took the dress into the shop to address the situation. Both owners were there. Female co-owner who handles the dress alterations was rude and took the dress from my hands and sewed the ripped material back together without any apology or explanation. Matter was handled in a rude/unprofessional way. I was appalled and frankly at a loss for words in the midst of such an absurd way of handling business. I will never take a piece of clothing to this business again and I vow to freely spread my scandalizing experience with Willard's ""so-called"" Tailor Shop. Pros: Speedy alterations...if you're going for the look that a 2 yr old did the job. Cons: Rude staff. Shady business ethics. more
