Fred Wichman offered my husband and I a rental home for a certain price. We were anxious to move into the home as it was exactly what we were looking for. However, we first had to rent out our condo. Fred encouraged us to at least submit an application to hold the property and to hurry up and get our condo rented. We felt uneasy about signing an application but did submit the fee. We rushed to rent out our place and had tenants sign a lease agreement to move in to the condo in 2 weeks. On June 21st, I called Fred in the morning to let him know we would be by to sign the paperwork on the house. He confirmed the price that he originally told me and the price that the property was listed as on their handout. I told him to expect us in just a couple of hours.
When my husband and I arrived at his office, he was gone! His secretary handed us the paperwork to fill out. And in doing so said, ""Fred did tell you the price went up $400""? This came as a a complete shock and given the predicament we were in we were furious! They claimed the homeowner would not take any less. We felt as if Fred intentionally knew what he was doing from the beginning and waited until we were in the position to be forced to just pay more since we were to be moved out of our home in 2 weeks. We were never approached by anyone from his company in a professional manner to help rectify their error. Rather, a woman in a back office yelled out to us, ""sorry, there is nothing we can do."" We could not believe this is the kind of reply we were getting when they literally just screwed us. We made our way to the woman in the back who showed a lack of ownership for their wrong doing and was completely unprofessional. When I called Fred on his cell phone, he was quick to apologize and said he was at a lunch meeting and hung up on me. So there we were.... stuck without a home to move into or paying $400 more.
We would never use them as management company after that ordeal. So in less than 2 weeks we forced to scramble to find another home. When telling other locals about this situation, we did not even have to say the name of who we were talking about... everyone already knew it was Fred Wichman. Apparently he is notorious for bad business deals.
