I will never go back to this store again. We were greeted at the door and asked what we were looking for and told that we could look around if we wanted. No one ever came back to ask if we needed help, and we walked by multiple employees. I found the perfect dining room suite that I would have paid cash money for, but I guess they didn't want my money. Next time (which there will not be a next time) I guess I should dress better than jeans and a sweat shirt. Need I say more. more

I had been in the market for furniture for over a year. I had been in and out of stores and never really found what I wanted. My kids and I took the short 15 minute drive to Zebulon after hearing great things from friends and neighbors about the store and hearing their ads I had to check it out for myself. I couldn't believe how large the selection was. The store goes on and on. I bought a dresser set that is beautiful. When I went back for a second trip for a kitchen table I was impressed on the knowledge and help from my sales person. We are looking at a custom order kitchen table made from the Amish that they can order. I love the financing options and really loved the sales staff's friendliness and helpfulness. They let me browse, but would check on me to see if I need help or suggestions. My kids loved the place and have asked to go back again. So worth the short drive to find a great selection and helpful friendly people. more

Should probably take down billboard on Glenwood in Raleigh.. 5/21/2012

...the store's employees do not seem interested AT ALL in selling to customers who simply walk in the door. Did we just happen to get a bad one when walked in? I saw other customers being helped- some clearly with employees, many with designers in tow. When we visited yesterday there were at least 3 bored-looking employees lounging at the front table, talking loudly about their plans to go out. While friendly, our saleswoman displayed no interest in us or even making a sale at all. While we were happy to wander the sales floor alone looking at everything (and this is the store's greatest strength and why we left our home off of Glenwood Ave. in Raleigh to drive to Zebulon that day), once we were through we needed some help and information to narrow down our final choices. But after not getting any help, we ultimately the left without buying anything. \r \r Instead, we drove home to Raleigh, stopped at the Bassett store on Glenwood and dropped thousands on living room and bedroom furniture, then called it a day. (We are newlyweds furnishing our first home and are fortunate enough to have generous relatives who gifted us with a large sum which we are using to buy furniture- important facts which nobody at Whitley Galleries cared enough to find out)\r \r You truly can't beat the size, selection and quality of the furniture Whitley Galleries stocks. Based on our shopping experience, the prices are good, but not necessarily better than other places if you hit a sale. But the lackluster service is the real negative. It's especially astonishing because we're not the type to expect to be waited on hand and foot AND surely it's a commission-based pay environment and we went there cash-in-hand planning to walk out with a big purchase. We were easy money, but Whitley Galleries doesn't want it I guess! more

I guess you have to know somebody 5/19/2010

We were new residents of Zebulon, furnishing a home. Went to Whitley Galleries to shop. I was impressed with how HUGE this place is...like a full city block...just kept going and going. However, though we passed by several employees, not a single one spoke to us or asked if we needed assistance the entire time. I saw the same thing happening to other customers. It appeared the only people getting any attention were those who seemed to be expected. Is this a ""by appointment only"" establishment? Sure seemed that way. Either that, or you have ""to know somebody"" to get service. We fwere insulted by this treatment and never went back. Pros: Best selection of unique solid quality furniture I've seen Cons: Entire staff Ignored us entire visit more

Best Place Around 5/4/2010

Interesting comment about Sales People. I am a designer and have worked with both Terrye and Chris multiple times and continue to bring clients to Whitley's. They are both wonderful, professional, and go out of their way to make sure my clients are always happy. Don't listen to the ""Do Not Shop"" comment. Work with either or both. Pros: Excellent and wide selection more

Wonderful experience 5/18/2009

We're new to the area and furniture shopped all over Raleigh. We ended up at Whitley Galleries in Zebulon and found the quality we were looking for. Their discount prices made it even better. Would recommend to anyone, especially if you're undecided. The selection was huge. more

Whitley Rocks!!!! 7/31/2002

If you have never been to Zebulon, NC you would not believe the HUGE selection at Whitley. They have been in business for over 100 years and have sold furniture to everyone in my family. They must have access to every piece of furniture ever made and Nelle is unbelievable!!! She knows everything about furniture and does a great job matching up fabrics and room settings. Whitley is only about 15 minutes from Raleigh and the big draw is there is a Smithfield Bar B Que at the exit. Don't go without trying their Brunswick Stew! Pros: Great Service, Lots of parking, Great Prices more
