This company has been pretty terrible when it comes to customer service. Take everyone else's warning on that. I also was to specifically address: DO NOT SIGN UP FOR SPECIALS OR INTRODUCTORY OFFERS. They tell you that you can get it for a special price when you sign up, then they mail you an 18 month contract, you sign it, and get your first bill only to find out that they tack on a ton of hidden charges and fees. I specifically asked them to calculate what I was paying and what I would have been paying after signing the contract... The discount ended up being a whopping $4 a month! Their service is terrible. It's not worth $4 a month to lock yourself into an 18 month contract. Then, if you decide to cancel, they will charge you $20 a month until the end of your contract, AND $60 to come out and flip the switch on the box to turn it off. Once again, The difference between the normal price and the ""advertised special discounted rate"" is only $4. The only difference is that they send you a little ""CONFIRMATION FORM"" in the mail, and that's their CONTRACT locking you in for 18 months. Don't do it. It's nothing but a scam. And if you can avoid it STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. more

DO NOT USE THEM!\r We have endured ridiculously low speeds for over three years at just over a hundred dollars a month. The Cable service is acceptable and I have no complaints regarding that side of the service package. What I consider Bogus is that for the entire time we have lived in the people’s republic of Searcy, White County Cable has repeatedly claimed someone here was downloading (aka pirating) movies. We have changed passwords; endured having our files searched (presumably for the ""stolen"" movies) and cooperated in every way we could.\r I have five kids and a grandchild and we have searched tablets, phones and laptops countless times trying to determine who is downloading what.... With no luck. And no surcease of accusations from the local monopoly.\r So, in an effort to find out what neighbor (mostly Harding students) was hacking our Wi-Fi and downloading movies and music my wife and I had never before heard of, I bought a series of programs to track Wi-Fi usage. Wire Shark found nobody. Who’s on My Wi-Fi program caught nobody. I was convinced I was dealing with a hacker.\r I have a web site designing business and (for obvious reasons) do very little of my work at home; that said, five days ago when White County Cable informed us that they were sending another tech (number 20-something) out to reset the modem and If the downloading continued we would have our service discontinued and possibly be prosecuted, my ire spiked. I was at work when the young man came and treated my wife and children like a den of thieves.\r My wife, after politely suffering nearly fifteen minutes of pedantic condescension, began to inquire after how things get downloaded…. That’s when the interesting part came to light. It turns out that, according to White County Cable, streaming video is downloading; saving pics in any way (including reposting to Facebook) is downloading; listening to audiobooks, using the homeschool site (in any way), video chatting (sorry Skype you are at fault too it seems) is all downloading.\r Now, the Tech did say that “some” of this downloading is allowed, but that “keeping” anything on any computer in the house is illegal. So: if I allow a webisode to buffer so that I don’t have to watch it in thirty second increments, I am breaking a law? And anything contained in your cashe files would be evidence of this crime? \r I believe my household has paid very well for the most pitiful service imaginable (top speed for the package is 3 mbs but average speed is 7 kbs and multiple techs have told me getting 10 is “really good”). One person in this house can use the internet at any given time or you spend the entire time resetting the modem. I am baffled by the duration, and intensity of what I now know to be ridiculous accusations of Pirating.\r Lastly, I would like to advise anyone moving to Searcy to consider this: Almost no other ISPs can serve you here! World Of Warcraft requires a commercial account (I am wondering how that isn’t pirating at this point) if you want any decent refresh rate. My family is left with considering U-verse ($120 a month for intermittent satellite service) and wishing I knew we have been (and have catered to other) pirates for as long as we have had internet!\r more

So my roommate and I have been wanting internet for a while. I did some research via the internet to compare prices and such and between that and my experiences with the two it was between White County Cable and CenturyLink. To me cable is a bit faster so I made the call and spoke with a staff member. I was told my internet would be about $50 with a contract or about $70 without. I mentioned to her that that is not what the website says but she said it may be a little outdated so I went with it and signed up with a contract. The Tech came out 7/16/2010 and set up my internet with a wireless router which I explained to him was a mistake since I EXPLICITLY said I need the modem ONLY...NOT wireless since I have my own wireless router. The tech said someone would switch it out Monday for no charge. So over the weekend I tried to enjoy my internet buuut it was going quite slow. I could not watch movies as I had hoped and downloading anything was a pain. So I emailed the company Saturday afternoon about it and got a reply Monday saying I had gotten signed up with Lite internet (which to me was a huge mistake since I'll be paying $50 per month) so I went to the office as the email suggested. When I get up there and explain my situation it is THEN that someone mentions that if you DON'T HAVE CABLE YOU'RE CLASSIFIED AS A BUSINESS. So I am paying the BUSINESS prices for my internet which is $50 for Lite and $100 for Standard. To me this is ridiculous because (a) there is no reason for me to be classified as a business (b) that is outrageous for internet anyway (c) I was never informed that I would be charged as a business I believe White County Cable TV has a monopoly on the entire county because they are one of the only options unless you get satellite. I believe they know they have this monopoly and take full advantage of it. I would NEVER recommend them to anybody and wish I would have gone with DSL because at least they told me everything I would be paying for per month. Cons: Do not fully explain what you are getting into more

White county cable disaster 10/11/2007

so Monday September 24, I call again and while I am on the phone with Littlerock they get ahold of a tech and he shows up. It was Darin he replaced the modeum and the spliters and put some boost thing on (to boost the signal) and got us up and running again... but by the next day September 26, 2007 I had no internet or upper channels again....Called and was told they would send a service tech out and got my internet back up and running.. I had my fingers crossed and was hoping all would be good this time.... but October 2, 2007 it went down again.... but don't worry a tech did show up October 3, 2007 and ran a new line from the box to my house... (which is still running across my yard a week later as of October 11,2007) so between October 3 and October 9, 2007 we were able to use our internet as long as we kept rebooting the modeum every few minutes....then the rebooting of the modeum was not staying up at all... so once again I called the 1-800-903-0508 number again this time I asked for a supervisor instead of going through the whole story again... I got Miss Bree (which has been very helpful and has followed up to make sure someone is working on the problem) she set up a service call and left a message for the white county cable supervisor to call... and said if I had not heard from them by noon October 10,2007 to call her and she would call them for me she also got ahold of the service tech on duty for me and he called tonight about 10 p.m. (David was his name) and he let me know that they would be out the next day .... Pros: the 1800 number answers the phone Cons: not reliable at all more
