Best

The best BBQ place in the town. Stuffs are really well behaved & the BBQ is simply awesome!!!

Worst

I made reservations for 6:00 for 4 adults/ 3 kids. Despite being on time and open tables, we waited 20 minutes. After being seated, no one, I mean NO ONE acknowledged us. No menu,...

Hits the spot! 5/5/2005

The quality of meat is very good but the menu is kind of expensive, they just recently hiked up prices. The best time to go is during happy hour, m-th 5-6, otherwise it's too expensive to eat regularly. We went for lunch recenlty and they give you the meat already cooked on a hot plate, still yummy but grilling is so much more fun. Pros: happy hour, clean, cozy Cons: expensive, ventilation more

Food for everyone! 4/24/2005

My husband and I come once a week to Wharo for happy hour. As a regular customer, I feel compelled to say a few good things about this restaurant. The menu has a healthy range of options, from veggies to spicy soups to prime cut beef. The side dishes will stimulate your palate, and the appetizers, especially the payjun and chapchae, are remarkable. They also carry a wide range of alcohol, including beer, soju, rice wine, and premium hot & cold sakes. In addition to the friendly and efficient service, I love the romantic ambience here. Pros: Diverse menu, High quality food, Great service more

Great Date Place! 1/29/2005

I love the ambience of Wharo: the dark wood and fresh flowers lend to a simple, yet classic & elegant environment. The menu offers a wide variety of healthy dishes, including prime cut beef, fresh veggies, and plenty of interesting side dishes, all made without MSG. Wharo also has a nice selection of wine...this is truly a great place for a date. Be sure to make a reservation on a Friday or Saturday so you don't have to wait! Pros: Ambience, Healthy Food, Great Service more

my review. 1/7/2005

i was excited to see that there was a grand opening for a new korean restaurant around the marina del rey area because i just moved here and was looking for some good korean food. however, this restaurant and is not worth the money compared to the restaurants anywhere else.. i.e.: los angeles, rowland heights, diamond bar, cerritos, etc. you can get a lot more food and authentic korean taste by going to a different restaurant. the food tastes good, but their portions are very, very small and unlike other korean restaurants, refills (for kimchee, rice, etc.) are extra charge. they allow you to cook the meat yourself, but there are also a lot of restaurants in l.a. that allow you to do this. Pros: nearby Cons: , small portions more

Not quite K-Town but Close! 11/22/2004

While I don't think that this restaurant is as good as some of the barbeques in Korea-town, its a good alternative for all of us westsiders that don't feel like driving down there! I went with three other people and we had the mixed vegetables, bulgogi, bibimbap and tofu chigae all of which were great. more

Interesting Twist 11/1/2004

This new Lincoln Blvd. restaurant is a welcome addition. The miso, baby greens, and kim chee starter was fresh and wonderful. They were no match for the succulent cuts of prime beef that were delivered shortly thereafter, though; the amazing bonus here is, you get to cook the meat yourself! These paired well with the sauces brought to our table and the crisp, cold bottle of Korean sake we enjoyed. This was all topped off with a delicious and settling tea. Two thumbs up from all three diners! Pros: fresh, filling, fun for couples Cons: , expensive more

Only Korean BBQ restaurant in West Los Angeles

Owner Message
  • Wharo was founded in 2004 with the passion and inspiration to introduce quality and health conscious-friendly Korean food on the Westside of Los Angeles. Wharo dishes are derived from Modern Seoul Styles dished with a Western twist. We are always trying to enhance flavors and create new recipes to modernize and move with the trend. At Wharo, we are proud that all of our dishes are free of MSG but instead use home-style cooking to create the mouthwatering flavors. From homemade spicy Kimchi to Organic Soft Soon Tofu Soup, we only culture the finest for our customers. We also use high quality Certified Angus Beef which passes 10 quality standard testing for its title. Using prime quality barbecue meats, like our Kobe and Kalbi beef, pork and shrimp Kobe redefines the Korean culture experience with a contemporary and modern interpretation of Asian materials and space.
