Best

The best BBQ place in the town. Stuffs are really well behaved & the BBQ is simply awesome!!!

Worst

I made reservations for 6:00 for 4 adults/ 3 kids. Despite being on time and open tables, we waited 20 minutes. After being seated, no one, I mean NO ONE acknowledged us. No menu,...

I cant wait to go back! 2/12/2007

definately the restaurant to go to if you want great service and korean BBQ. the meat was so fresh! yum! more

THIS IS THE WORST OF THE WORST RESTAURANTS THAT I HAVE BEEN TO IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. 1/7/2007

THIS IS THE WORST OF THE WORST RESTAURANTS THAT I HAVE BEEN TO IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I had a reservation for 6 people at 5pm. I was there at 5pm but two of my colleagues weren't there. They have never been in the area so they were lost. I was outside on the phone with them to tell them directions. when they finally got there was about 5:30 and it was after the manager had had my friends to the smallest table in the restaurant because they were so busy and we were the only ones that hadn't ordered yet.\r She basically wanted us,6 of us, to seat at a table for 4 people because not all of us were there at 5pm. She never apologized when we were so upset by being treated like are not as important as other customers only because we hadn't oredered right away.\r She said she takes reservations every one and a half hr so IF YOU ARE NOT DONE BY THEN THEY WILL KICK YOU OUT. SO KEEP THIS IN MIND IF YOU PLAN TO GO TO THIS PLACE, EAT AND ORDER IN 90 MINS NO MATTER WHAT.\r \r Below you asked me to call. When I called you the last tiyou laughed in my face and hung up on me. I am never going back to your place. Pros: NO PROS are you kidding me? The manager/owner is the rudest person I've ever met Cons: The most terrible restaurant ever. Super RUDE!!!! more

Best Korean BBQ on the Westside 12/15/2006

Try the spicy pork, and also the shrimp. Go with friends to share the quality fare and cook together. It's fun! Excellent service, and reasonable prices. The best Korean BBQ on the Westside of Los Angeles. Pros: Love the food! Interactive meal. more

Not worth waiting for 12/2/2006

Dined here a few years ago, and it was just ok. Attempted to try it again tonite, waited over an hour, got fed up, and left. The food is definitely not worth the wait. You're better off going to Koreatown. Cons: Didn't get seated, seating is not prompt, hostess unhelpful more

Excellent Food 9/18/2006

My girlfriend and I have been visiting Wharo for about 5 months now and everytime we visit we leave satisfied. The service is superb, prompt and very cordial and you are greeted with a warm welcome everytime. The food is outstanding, and being Korean myself, the portions are just right and satisfying to the taste buds. Great for those quick meals that are satisfying and easy on the wallet. Pros: Good service, warm atmosphere more

Fun and Delicious 7/15/2006

My boyfriend and I tried this place once and continue to go back on a regular basis. The prices are decent, not terribly cheap, but about average. The food is great. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff. The appetizer portions are generous, but the main course portions could be better. Overall, we thoroughly enjoy our experiences here. Pros: Food, atmosphere, service Cons: Price could be cheaper more

Good, but not outstanding 3/26/2006

The menu isn't as extensive as it's counterparts in Koreatown, but they do well with what they have. We didn't have reservations on a Friday night, but were seated promptly. We didn't have a set waiter/waitress, but we had a smile from everyone who served us. Pros: Reasonable prices, Good food Cons: Limited parking more

Rude beyond belief 2/28/2006

I made reservations for 6:00 for 4 adults/ 3 kids. Despite being on time and open tables, we waited 20 minutes. After being seated, no one, I mean NO ONE acknowledged us. No menu, no drinks, nothing. After getting up and asking the hostess what's up, a waiter finally dropped off a menu with some comment about no one was assigned to us, sorry. No one ever was, we got a patchwork all evening. It was 7:00 before we even got a drink. The kids were very hungry and got restless waiting endlessly for food. The fun of eating there is cooking yourself over the bbq grill. I ordered an entree that, unfortunately, came to the table already cooked. The waiter never told me that it was cooked in the kitchen. It was embarrassing to me to have brought my friends to Wharo. Pros: grills on table , decor Cons: abominable service, overpriced food, never go back again more

yum.yum.yum. 2/2/2006

mmmmmmmm. I've been to a few places in K town and this place blows them away...andy they are on the west side. service is impeccable. try the payjun. always fresh. they are getting quite popular, but they can always make accomodations to seat you comfortably. go, go , go more

Hauntingly Good 1/10/2006

I was very impressed with the authentic korean barbeque experience the Westside had to offer. The service was excellent and the Kobe beef with minced garlic was mouth watering. I prefer this place much more than joints in Korea town because I don't speak Korean and its hard to get the attention of the staff. I thought the prices were reasonable in context to the area. Simply put Wharo was great! Pros: Fresh Meats, Great Service, Excellent Decor Cons: Limited Parking, Closes Mid Afternoon more

Yum! 9/29/2005

Very good, fresh food with a nice staff in a pleasant ambiance. Lunch specials are great value and it is not crowded. Dinner can be a bit of a challenge without reservations. more

Where's da Beef? 9/16/2005

It seems people love this restaurant or hate it after reading the reviews. Unfortunately, I don't think Wharo is so great(whats up with the small portions). Lucky this restaurant wasn't in Koreatown. Cons: portions, taste more

it's not that good 9/6/2005

I can't believe how many positive things people had to say about the food at this place. Granted, it is one of the only places west of the 405 that serves Korean food, but it is only mediocre. The prices, a bit high. Service, pretty good. Decore, OK for a strip mall on Lincoln. If you want good Korean food, venture a little east into Koreatown and you will be more than happy that you went a few extra miles. Pros: location Cons: food, overpriced more

Left very satisfied 9/3/2005

Wharo was recommended to me by a friendof mine, after reading the reviews, I was a hesitant about trying it out. My fiance and I were craving Korean bbq and didn't want to travel far, so we decided to go. I have to say that we were very satisfied by end of meal. Premium meat choices, great service, and nice ambiance. I recommend dinner reservations if you plan on arriving at 7:00 or later. Only con is the price - be prepared to spend. The 2 of us cost $70 w/o liquor. Pros: great food, attentive service, clean, modern decor Cons: bit pricey more

User review by tuffnut 7/10/2005

For anyone who goes there I would recommend them to try the kalbi! The quality of the meat is very good but I would agree that the portions are small and that it is somewhat pricey. I believe they have raised the price a few times coz it wasnt really that expensive when we went there when they first started the business. It was so much better in the beginning when it was not crowded.. and you dont have to wait long. Nevertheless I still recommend this place. Pros: Nice ambience, Good food Cons: small portions, expensive more

Could do alot better 7/4/2005

I don't claim to me the Korean food expert, but I've had enough of it to know what's good and what isn't. I have to say Wharo, is on the isn't side. Though atmosphere is nice and I like the contemporary look of the restaurant, I have to say the food isn't very good. All I can say is after leaving restaurant, I felt dissatisfied with the food and bit ripped off. Then I drove to a good Korean place and ate. Pros: atmosphere, Contemporary, Empty Cons: Food, Price, not satisfying more

I was just there! 6/11/2005

What a great restaurant. I read the other reviews and was actually hesitant before going but am glad I went. The food was fresh, the service was good and price was fair. I don't know why others posted that it was on the pricey side--I thought given the quality of the food, the pricing was actually very fair. Great date place!! more

W Hotel Meets Koreatown, but with better food 6/2/2005

Having a Korean wife, living in Marina Del Rey and being totally obsessed with Korean food -- I've turned to Wharo as a place I eat more than my own dining room. The food is totally authentic - actually better pan-chan than what you find in Koreatown. The atmosphere is top notch. Unlike the greasy, smoky pits in K-town, Wharo has much more of a W Hotel feel. The kalbi Wharo serves is top-grade beef, not some of the lower grade meat (hidden by over-marination) that BBQ joints in K town use. Prices are totally fair -- One entree (a chigaeo or bimbimbap) plus one order of Kalbi will easily feed two people and will only set you back $30. Pros: Atmosphere, Quality of Beef, Service more

If you want real Korean food, don't go to Wharo 5/23/2005

The food was okay, but far from good korean food. The portions are much smaller than when you go to other korean restaurants and more expensive. I was not used to their menu, as more traditional places serve their meat the same way. Even our waiter was nice enough to tell us that some of the stuff wasn't that good and that it was over priced. Cons: Over priced, Small portions more

Need improvements 5/20/2005

The restaurant looks nice within the small space but the food is not authentic enough for my taste. Price is quite high as expected like most Korean BBQ'S,however the portions was rather skimpy. My advise for anyone who craves this food is head to Koreatown's many restuarants. Pros: service Cons: price, portions more
