Believe every bad review what you read... 1/25/2012

I have been a tenant of this property several times over the course of 10 years, starting with when it was called Nottingham and managed by a totally different company. 1.Yes, the units are somewhat old. This is not a new property, but improvements and upgrades have been made in flooring, appliances and windows and can be yours for an increased rental price. None of this stuff is exactly high end but if looks are what floats your boat, they do have these options. Personally, I don't much care if my cabinets look like they came from 1995 or 2010, but that's just me. As long as it's clean and functional-which all the units I've lived in have been-I'm good. 2. Maintenance is responsive and kind, but these guys (and they're all men) are not highly trained technicians-they are jacks of all trades and it shows in their work. So, you may have a new tile floor-and then you notice the grout in between is messily done. Or you have a mold-free tile wall in your shower-and then you notice it's bowed out and God only knows what's beneath. The maintenance motto seems to be ""if it looks good, it must be fixed"" and sometimes that's true and sometimes it's not true at all. However, in my experience, they have always been quick and easy to reach. 3. The walls are thin, as are the ceilings-you will hear your neighbors moving around in their units from time to time and likely more if they're not quiet people. The shared hallway means you will hear your neighbors coming and going as well as any hallway conversations they may have. The thermostat in my unit has a ""fan"" setting that been HUGE in eliminating most of the neighbor noise. Electrical outlets are hit or miss. For reasons I still can't connect, my unit has lost power 4 times in the time that I've lived in it. The units, as I said, are old and used and it shows from time to time. 4. Management is worse than you've heard. They will lick your butt when you arrive to see a unit but that groveling dies off real quick once you've signed your lease. The office is staffed with women in their late teens to mid-20's and they are rude, willfully ignorant and almost seem to go out of their way to make dealing with them an unpleasant experience at best and a nightmare at worst. I don't know if BH Management's philosophy is to get the $ and screw the rest or if they genuinely believe they provide a satisfactory level of customer service, but there has been a noticeable decline in professionalism and general politeness since BH took over the property. It's like the entire office staff has an inferiority complex that manifests in an overblown attempt to show they are very important people via an obnoxious attitude problem. I try to avoid dealing with them as much as I can as every single interaction I've had with them-except that first showing and lease signing, when I could've farted and they would've applauded-has been difficult and condescending. So, if the property is this mediocre and the staff is obnoxious, why do I keep returning? They take big dogs and the price is right. It's that simple. When you own big dogs and rent, it can be very difficult to find an apartment in a good location for a good price-at least in this city. If I owned smaller dogs or a cat, there is not a chance I'd look at this place twice. I am certain that, unless you own a large dog, you have far better options in this city that provide more value for your money and much better management. The reason I will finally be moving to another, more expensive property when my lease is up, is the management. I'd rather pay more and be treated civilly than deal with a staff that seems to think all the tenants are wayward 6 year olds. If you can deal with that, you're a better tenant than I am. more

2 years of loving where I live. 7/18/2011

I have lived at westpointe now going on 2 years and I love it. Only complaint I have ever had is there snow removel could be better and they should salt the raod better so they dont melt and ice over. they keep the golf course A+ all spring, sumer and fall. they mowe alot and do great care in weed eating and keepin gup the ground I give the yard crew a gold star. I had an issue with the AC was fixed in less then 24 hrs. I served 21 years in the USMC. I have lived allover the USA and the world. Westpointe has to be in the top 10%. I read where some lady complained about she was unabel to move some of her things into her place shemust have lived in a top floor apt. As my wife and I live in one of the townhouses and to be honest myself and fellow devildog was able to move in a calf king into the upstairs of our townhose along with two four poster beds and two 7ft tall armoires not to mention full size dressers that donot come apart. So I think this ladys review I read shows she not a good mover as if we were able to move our giant bedroom sets up a narrow stairwell in the townhouses she mightnot have the exp we have had moving. I wasent there so I dont know I just knwo all my wifes giant furniture was able to fit with alittle finnesse. All in all I love it here no wild parties and IM happy to say my nextdoor neighbhor is a poilce officer. Im now retired and I stay home alot but I will say I love this place and I wouldent want to live anyplace else. more

The worst management ever! 3/14/2011

Terrible since the very first minute we arrived. When we first moved in, we had been moving all the way from the twin cities. We were unable to see the unit before we moved in despite being in the area for 30 days prior to moving in. We were shown a remodeled unit and were told that its was basically the same except older decor. When we arrived moving day at 8 in the morning, no one had made our keys. So we had to wait for 45 minutes and make the moving company wait. When we opened up the unit I was shocked at the condition of the apartment. The carpet was old, and not properly tied down to the floor, the sheet vinyl was damaged, scratched and cut improperly around vents so there was no flooring around the edges. The paint was obviously not even touched up before we moved in. The laminate cabinet faces were peeling off of the doors, and the appliances were old. The shelves in the closet were clawed and chewed and missing huge chunks, there was no cable in the master bedroom, and the basement don't even get me started. One section is carpeted, with walls haphazardly thrown together with paneling, unfinished wood boards, plywood and even ceiling tiles, and the rest was uneven concrete floors covered in gray paint, that wouldn't be that bad besides that they didn't clean the floors before hand, and there's hair, large sticky looking spots that might be syrup, adhesive or even gum. Not to mention we could not even get our queen box spring up the stairs with professional movers help. We were never told this would be an issue. We had to go by a split box spring and the apartment complex refused to reimburse us for the $250 cost. all of the outlets were so old that plugs would hang out of the sockets, and the windows weren't even cleaned before we moved in. Despite all of this we stayed, having no where else to go. As we lived here longer and spoke to other tenants we found we were paying the same as them for rent, and they had finished basements. When our next door neighbor moved out we took a peek in their apartment, and their place was in nearly perfect condition, same finishes, yet they were all in great condition. Now that it is time for our new lease agreement, and still having no better option *we live in the town homes, and no other complex has the square footage as this place* they are trying to raise our rent by $45 when we know for a fact, another neighbor who had to be taken to court to get a missed rent payment is only having their rent raised by $5 and she has a finished basement. They claim they can't compromise, we offered them $10 more per month but they won't budge, and with a baby on the way in three months and a 4 year old we simply can't pick up and move whenever we please. I wish we never would have moved in, if you're thinking the extra square footage is worth it, it really isn't. You can get a nicer apartment somewhere else AND pay for a storage unit and not pay as much as this place, don't waste your time and money. more

Not Recommended! 3/18/2010

We had problems ever since we moved in. First, air conditioning was not working properly, then we had water leak in the bathroom. More specific, every time the person upstairs took a shower, we would end up with yellow water leaking from the ceiling all over our bathroom. We asked to have the wobbly toilet fixed, they didn't to anything about it. Just recently, after snow melted, our living room window was leaking. Hallways do not get vacuumed, but the most disgusting thing of all is the fact that management won't do anything about people with dogs and almost everyone has at least one dog. During this winter nobody was picking up their dog's poop so when the snow melted, grass was covered in it. There were piles of dog poop!! Also, there was poop on the walkway and you literally have to watch your step. Also, not safe during winter. I have contacted the office to ask if maintenance would come and knock off huge icicles that were overhanging on the gutter above the entry doors. Nobody ever came and snow and ice kept accumulating. I was coming home one night after going out and went inside my apartment which is right next to the entry doors. 10 minutes later a huge chunk of ice came of the roof. It was probably 5x5 ft and about 2 ft thick chunk of ice. Should I have passed 10 minutes later than I did, I would have probably been dead! This is my piece of frustration with these people and I definitely do not recommend living here. Pros: great location, apartments are good size more

Stay Away!! This place is awful! 11/24/2008

\r This is the worst place I have ever stayed in with out a doubt I lived there for 6 months and I could not take 1 more day, there was mold in the bathroom, it was loud and there were leaks in the bathroom. The whole place smells like a cheap motel. And don't get me started on the staff... By far the most unprofessional and incompetent people I have ever had to deal with, they will lie and take your money. If you value your health and money stay away!!!! Cons: The entire property more
