Nice Place to Live 11/14/2011

I have lived at West Wind for nearly five years and have enjoyed my stay. The grounds are beautiful, my neighbors are great, and I feel safe. Management is ok, but tolerable. Maintenance is great! He's friendly, respectful, responds quickly and appropriately to any problems. The complex is dog friendly and lots of grass area to take your little pale out. The rent is the best I have found in the area. The complex were initially build to be condos, thus the wall are thicker than your typical apartment walls. I hardly hear those I share a wall with, or the people downstairs. I'm not sure what the other reviewer is talking about in regards to race. There are many ethnic backgrounds living in the complex, which makes it nice. Everyone is respectful and nice. more

ITS A NICE PLACE IF YOUR WHITE 12/20/2010

If you look at the entire apartment complex you will find yourself surrounded by whites and only whites, from there workers to the tendants.. i had two friends apply there a mexican women and a black male they were given excuses and then denied on the spot... I also had a middle eastern friend go there and they said they dont alow co signers which is a lie. I have a friend in there apartments who is white and works + has a co signer. Guess what? shes white... soon i know this place will get sued or closed. Sooner or later people are going to make racial complaints and this place will be closed down but im certain after management reads this they will start hiring some blacks allowing multi color tendants lol.. i guess i should tell my friends to go apply in 2 weeks.. Look the apartments are nice and all that but at what price ? only if your white LOL.. i guess they think by having only whites trouble will be less then having other cultures.. maybe your right.. but you know what in AMERICA. Thats against the law and you will get sued and have your management closed.. So sad that even in 2010 we have racism. more

Renter Beware - Don't expect your deposit back!! 7/21/2009

I rented a unit at this property for some time. During the time of my stay there, I was somewhat satisfied with the property and its management, but there were a few areas of poor quality we were willing to overlook, such as mold in the bathroom, and serious dry-rot on the balcony railing. Also, the small wash units are excessively priced for the size, and tenants must pay extra each month if they want a covered parking spot. Otherwise, take what uncovered spots are open. The stay was not unpleasant, but it was not perfect either. When I moved out, however, I was treated with utter disregard by the property owner when I expressed a grievance regarding inflated charges deducted from my security deposit. I try my very best to be a renter that is courteous and respectful of the property. I had no problems, always paid my bill on time, and never had any complaints against me. When I moved out, I spent two days cleaning the apartment to make sure it was in the condition I would want it left in if I had tenants. The apartment was immaculate; the only area of question were carpets with a few spots in high traffic areas (normal wear). I usually go through and do some spot cleaning in those areas, although I am typically charged a standard fee for cleaning carpets anyway. So I moved out of the apartment and had a walk-through with the property manager, and she said it ""looked great"" and was almost move-in ready (except cleaning the carpets like usual). She estimated the charges to us would be less than $100. About two weeks after I moved out, I got my check back for my deposit, and I got only $170 of a $500 deposit. Given the satisfaction of the property manager during our move-out inspection, the $330 deduction from our security deposit seem to be significantly exaggerated. The charges in the amount of $195 for the carpet- $50 of which was for carpet damage noted in my move-in inspection- and $135 for cleaning a unit we spent two solid days cleaning seemed highly questionable. On account of this circumstance, we were upset, so we called the property manager, who was as helpful as she could be, indicating that she felt the amount of the refund was ""unfair,"" but that the final say rested with the owner of the property who was unwilling to budge on the amount of the refund we received. Her excuse was that she is new, did not know the process and these are standard charges. We then contacted the owner of the property who was very inconsiderate, rude and thoroughly unwilling to negotiate or even discuss the situation. He even went as far as to tell us that we did not spend two days cleaning the house before hanging up on us and ignoring any future phone calls. We strive to be good tenants, and we recognize no property will be perfect, so we were willing to overlook some of the inconveniences and potential hazards present in our unit. However, after the disregard demonstrated by the owner of the West Wind Apartments, we feel it necessary to express our discontent in conducting business dealings with this individual and his organization. We also wish to warn potential residents to proceed with caution and thoroughly document any problems present at time of move-in and receive written verification of refund terms at time of final inspection. more

nice place to live 4/28/2009

This place was a great price for such a great location. The management was always friendly and the property was always kept looking good. If I had a leaky faucet or needed anything fixed the maintenance guy was always there right away. \r \r The downside is they really dont like pets and there is a $500 nonrefundable cat deposite, and no dogs allowed. Also if you dont have great credit they will want a large deposite from you. They needed a $1000 deposite from me. But it was nice of them to give me the first month free. \r \r I had a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom with vaulted ceilings and a woodburning fireplace for only $850 a month. I moved when my rent was bumped up to $950 a month but that would still be a good deal considering the neighborhood. All the apt have these huge 23 foot decks. \r \r Its only about 20min from downtown sac if there isnt traffic and only about 5min from the galleria. There are grocery stores right down the street too. \r \r One thing that did bother me is there was one family living there that was always really loud and the cops had to come out two or three times in the 8 months I lived there. About once a week I would hear this family yelling in the parking lot and even though all the other neighbors keep to themselves this made me feel like I wasnt in Roseville if you know what I mean. \r \r There is a nice pool but I never used it. Overall this place was by far the best experience I ever have had renting an apartment. I deffinately recommend it. Anyone could probably move in for a deal right now because it seems like half the apartments are vacant because of the economy. I recommend movning to an upstairs unit because the windows are a lot bigger and the ceilings are sooo tall. The downstairs ones have more of a cave effect lol. Good luck with your apartment search! Hope this is helpful to someone. Pros: nice management, quick maintenance service, affordable Cons: cold air comes in through the windows and doors more
