Weaver, Garth, Od - Far West Optical

I have been seeing Dr. Barbara Coldiron for 23 years. I started going in high school upon moving to the Austin area. My 6 year old daughter even sees her and does really well. Dr. Coldiron is very efficient and very knowledgeable. On several occasions I have inquired about having laser surgery and she is very honest and caring in giving her reasons why I might not be a candidate. She offers free samples of contacts to try until you find the right fit, which is nice. I recommend going in...everyone I've sent there loves it as much as I do. more

After reading wonderful reviews about Far West Optical I called for an appointment and Dr. Weaver was booked, but Dr. Guenther was available. I was reluctant to see her since there were no reviews of her. I did go to see her and had a great experience. She was very kind, thorough and knowledgeable. I had concerns about my eyes when I went it, and left feeling so very releived and seeing better than I had in months. She had some great recommendations and advice in regards to the type of contacts I should use and the best way to care for them. I highly recommend her. Pros: Very Thorough more

I have been a patient of Dr. Garth Weaver for many years. He is a very kind, patient, caring person. Anybody that can fit multifocal contact lens correctly is a pro in my book. This guy is the greatest! I have never had to wait more than 5-10 mins. past a scheduled appt. time. I would not hesitate to recommend this Dr. to anyone. Go now! You won't be sorry. I too was shocked at the previous comment. I've gone to Far West Optical for years (Coldiron in particular) and always had a positive experience. I read the previous review of Far West Optical. While I know both doctors, it is Dr Barbara Coldiron I have seen for over eleven years now. Being a patient for over eleven years, I just can't imagine that the previous review and I have been to the same Far West Optical. Dr. Coldiron has always given me very thorough eye exams in a timely and gracious manner. I have found her to be a very caring doctor who has even come in on a couple of Sundays when we have eye emergencies in our family. One of those times was very late at night and she still insisted on meeting us instead of sending us to the emergency room. Over the eleven years, I have sent many friends to Far West Optical and Dr. Coldiron. All have thanked me for sending them to such a great doctor. I have found the staff of Far West Optical, including the ""front desk"" people, to always be courteous on the phone and in person. They order my contacts when I ""oops"" run out and get them for me very quickly. They always ask how we are and make small talk. I would recommend this eye doctor above any, even if you have to wait an extra fifteen minutes as the past person said. Dr. Coldiron has usually run on time for my visits yet if she were behind, I would wait. She is definitely worth waiting for! I had a terrible experience at this business and recommend it to no one. On the first trip, I waited 20 mins past my appt time to finally be told that the dr had left for the day b/c of an injury. No one thought to tell the Patient sitting in the waiting room. After making another appt, I waited 15 mins past appt time and finally had to approach the desk to ask why there was a delay. After an unsatisfactory exchange I was told it would probably be another 15 mins! I informed the girl that I could not wait and would have to leave and probably would not be back - ever. Her lame answer was 'sorry'. No attempt to get me anyone else I could speak with. Pros: None known Cons: Poor office layout, unprofessional staff more

I've adored the kind and informative bed side manner of Dr. Garth Weaver for 13 or 14 years. His is indeed thorough during the yearly exams and in every instance. Most recently he saw me first thing in the morning after I accidently stabbed myself in the eye with my Toyota Key the night before and apparently scratched my cornea. While he clearly had a full patient schedule, he squeezed me in and really took a good amount of time with me. He remembers his patients from visit to visit. I sure hope his other patients weren't put out, they didn't seem to be, because we all know we're going to get his full attention when it is our turn. His front desk staff are more than cordial. The selection of eye wear makes me drool every time I stop in. There is a nice selection for us older folk wanting rather edgy eye wear. I HIGHLY recommend Far West Optical. I've been wearing glasses since the 1979 and I've going to Far West Optical the past 10 years. The office has given me the most comprehensive eye exams I've ever received, the staff is very nice and they've always provided me with polite, prompt assitance. Pros: Great Office! more
