I read many good things about this restaurant and when I ate here I was very sad indeed. My fish was not warm on the inside and should have had at least a few tiny vegetables on t...

Lives up to San Francisco standards 6/29/2007

We are from San Francisco and very accostomed to excellent service and food. The Watermark lived up to California standard. Do not miss the grits souflle - it was excellent. I had the Buffalo filet and it was cooked to perfection. I'd never had Buffalo - but I'd have it again here! The pork loin was nicely prepared with rice and a sweet but not too sweet sauce. Pass on the lump lobster crab cake as an entree - not that good - bready and too large a cake. The wine list was extensive - a good selection. Dessert was a sample selction of southern pies - wow - lemon marignue, chess and chocolate pie. Beautiful presentation and really took me back to my childhood - I'm originally from Nashville. Decor was a bit stark. Go and have the grits! more

Our Favorite in Nashville 3/4/2007

If you want fine dining beyond the typical upscale steakhouse this is the place. We have been to Watermark several times and have never had anything but great experiences. The food is fantastic and the service is excellent. It is a trendy and classy restaraunt in an up and coming location. The lamb rocks, seafood was great, steaks have been good, and of course the wine. We are pretty picky and we have had excellent meals on every occassion there. We like to start with dinner here and then go next door to Sambuca to listen to some live jazz. Pros: Food, atmosphere, service, location Cons: A little pricey but well worth it more

Excellent menu and service 1/19/2007

Finally a restaurant in Nashville that actually CARES about who and what it serves. I have eaten there on two occassions and had outstanding meals and service on both occassions. So far, I have had the filet and venison. Both were exceptional. I highly recommend this restuarant if you are turned on by a varietal menu and excellent service. When you leave, you actually feel like you got your money worth. Good job Watermark. more

Nashville rarity 10/29/2006

Finding beef carpaccio, braised rabbit, and foie gras in a Nashville restaurant was pretty exciting for me. Everything we ordered was fantastic, but the carpaccio was really outstanding. The whole restaurant and atmosphere are beautiful, but the menu is really what makes this a cut above other places in Nashville for me. Not to be snotty, but it's far more interesting and culinarily sophisticated than any other place I've been around here. more

Great Atmosphere but still over rated 7/23/2006

Yes, 12th ave is the place to see and be seen. The Watermark is a beautiful restaurant but the food is a bit overrated and the service is mediocre. I was really expecting more from this restaurant, although the decor is amazing the food and service are not on par with other fine dining places in Nashville like the Hermitage's Capitol Grille, Mortons or even The Sunset Grille. Pros: great atmosohere and location Cons: food is over rated and mediocre more

Cool place, but don't expect to be blown away by the food. 7/6/2006

Stopped by on a whim and had read about it online. There is a great view outside from the patio area. However, the food was not good. My wife had the fish (which was the most expensive item on the menu that night) and the waiter (who was good by the way) said that the fish was excellent. (as if he'd say otherwise). It was so bland and completely vinegar tasting. All the items served with the fish tasted so much like vinegar it ruined the whole dish. The fish was the Pampano. I would avoid it. I on the other hand had the lamb, which was recommended. It was bland tasting. The items accompanying it were nothing special. Very disappointed in the food. I might give this place another try based on the good view and the waiter we had did a good job. I would just definitely get something else. Pros: Views, good wait staff Cons: The Food more

Service Beyond the Skyline 5/21/2006

The skyline view and being in the new ""in-location"" clearly helps Watermark draw people in, but the service and food are the things that will make people return. The wait staff clearly works as a team and their professional attitude makes up for the somewhat sterile interior. The food was delicious and the portions ample. The wine list extensive and at first glance a bit expensive, but some of the best wines by the glass to be found! more

One of the Better Restaurants in Town 5/17/2006

I have been to Watermark several times and have enjoyed the food. Their signature appetizer - The Grit Souffle is very nice. I have also had the Veal Cheeks, another great dish. For the most part, the items I have tried or my guests have tried have been good. A couple of items I probably would not order again - the Foie Gras (average execution and average product) and the Fritto Misto (good but not worth $12). (Personally I think Nashville has an issue with trying to charge NYC, LA or SF prices for food which does not compare to what you would get if you paid the same price in these cities). We have had some service issues, but I have come to expect that in Nashville. It is the ""in"" place to go at the moment and we will continue to dine here. Pros: Food, Location, Ambiance Cons: Service (slightly) more

Great Experience 4/25/2006

I recently went to The Watermark for the first time with my girlfriend and we had an absolute blast. Valet parking was easy and we were seated immediately. We had a table on their upper floor and had the most amazing view of downton. The service was excellent... our waitress was there enough but not to much. The GM came over twice just to make sure everything was going good. The food was excellent and came out with perfect timing(Carpaccio was best I've ever had). Everything was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to go back!!!! Pros: Food, Service, Ambience more

Glad the Watermark is in Nashville 3/23/2006

It is so nice to see great restaurants opening up in Nashville. The dining experience at Watermark was remarkable. The food was seasoned just right and that is a plus since I did not see any salt or paper on the tables. Just one drawback. We had reservations and the host tried to seat us on the first floor near the host station. There was no excuse for this especially since the restaurant was not very busy. The first floor tables should be for overflow guest. Pros: Food, Cosmo's, Atmosphere Cons: Host more

Watermark creates just that! 3/22/2006

This is one of the best new restaurants in the city. Located in the Gulch, parking is as simple as valet. The choices on the menu are varied and the preparations and presentations are really nice. Service was excellent. Despite the large room, great measures have been taken to control excess noise, making the romantic evening very possible. We willl be back to enjoy more of the great salalds, deserts and entrees. This is a winner! Pros: romantic, excellent food, great service Cons: valet parking only more

Superb 3/18/2006

This is a new and welcomed addition to the Nashville scene. The food is astoundingly good and the restaurant is well-constructed to allow for conversation. The service is skilled, helpful an not pushy. There is a great room downstairs for a large group. more

It was really nice. 3/17/2006

it is going to be THE place in the summer with a nice deck overlooking the city. It is listed as $, but it is more like $$$. The service is great, the food was good. Good special occasion, or a price meal. more

And a little tastebud shall lead the way! 3/5/2006

The wine selection was extraordinary but I forgot all about it upon the first savory bite of dinner. The filet was cooked to perfection and was bar none the best I have ever had anywhere. I love mushrooms & upon request the chef prepared a dish of sauteed mushrooms for me which was not on the menu. The service was efficient, professional, and welcoming. The valet service was as professional & polite as the indoor staff. Every guest in the place was dressed divinely and seemed just as pleased with every aspect of their visit as we were. Very lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be returning and recommending to others. Pros: delectible, great atmosphere, wonderful service Cons: not one more
