Walk This Way Shoes

I love these little stores. If you've never been to Montrose, it's a throw back to yesteryear. it's a small strip of stores that remind you of the good old days when everything was independently owned. They do have a few corporate businesses (bank of american, coffee bean and tea leaf and quiznos), but pretty much everything else is owned by individuals. Walk This Way is very much like that and it feels good to shop at a store where the owner has a vested interest. I bought shoes specifically because of my painful arches. The shoes I tried on were very comfortable and walking has become much less painful. They are a great pair of shoes and the sales person was very helpful. The shoe prices are a little on the high side, but that's to be expected; the store is not a mass retailer and the shoes are specialized. Overall my experience there was very good. more

Had a terrible experience here at the store. We walked in to check out the various shoes and could not have been greeted in a more rude fashion. The owner, Julie (we discovered she was the owner later -- her having lied and said she was merely the manager), gave us a mean look as soon as we entered the store. When we asked to try on some different shoes we were ignored for nearly 10 minutes as the owner talked on the phone (a personal call), gabbing away and not seemingly the least bit interested in our business. My first and only experience shopping at Walk This Way was to place a special order on Dec. 22, 2007, which I paid for in advance. As of this date (Jan. 18, 2008), my order has not yet arrived. I called once after New Year's and was told that nothing had come in because the manufacturer was closed for the holidays. When I called back today, I was told that the order had not arrived yet because Boston was snowed in. I politely expressed my frustration at this four week wait. Rather than being treated with some sympathetic reply, I was told that I was free to cancel that order and that I was giving undue attitude. I hung up in frustration after I was told that I was speaking to ""one of the managers."" I am canceling the order tomorrow. In summary, rude and uncaring staff/management and sloppy service. more

I love most of the shoes here but I can't afford them. Why is it that the most comfortable shoes cost so much. But for a small town shoe store they carry a nice selection of shoes. Pros: Great shoes Cons: High prices more
