WalMart

It's never enjoyable to shop at Walmart. You have to park halfway to the moon and watch out for speeding cars in the parking lot. You're greeted at the door and that feels appropriate because getting to the door is a major accomplishment. ("Here--have a sticker and congratulations on making it to the door of our huge box store.") So why do I go there? (I ask myself that almost every time I go.) They have a good selection of toys for not a lot of money. They have some seasonal items. They have household staples. Oh--and they're open 24 hours and they're relatively close to our house. That ropes us in more often than anything else. But it's never an enjoyable shopping experience. Not ever. I prefer to spend my money elsewhere. more

I usually prefer to go to the dealership to have my oil changed, but one day thought I’d try Wal*Mart’s. They did a good job. It was cheap and quick, just what you would expect from Wal*Mart. I do miss how my car gets a good cleaning at the dealership, but for the price I guess you can’t go wrong. I didn’t have a long wait (not that it would really matter as I just shopped while I waited). more

If you are looking for the cheapest prices (in most cases) you’ve come to the right store. If you’re looking for good customer service or to feel appreciated as a customer, you’ve come to the wrong store. Wal*Mart is great at having the lowest prices on almost everything, but the way they teat their customers is definitely lacking. Just make sure you don’t want to leave their feeling valued and this is the place for you. more
