Incompetence 4/2/2012

I have actually been taking my family to Accent Urgent Care for years. While not totally thrilled with the care we received I thought we got basic medical care during off hours of our regular doctor. One of the reasons I chose them was because they have x-ray capabilities and the urgent cares in Fuquay Varina, where I live, do not. So, to the at hand incident. My son sprained his ankle playing basketball on a Saturday and I thought he needed x-rays, so off we went to Accent in Cary from Fuquay Varina (with gas at almost $4 a gallon!). Once we filled out our paperwork and waited about 20 or 30 minutes the front desk person called me up and told me that essentially we would have to pay for the whole visit out of pocket because the information she had pulled up on her computer about our insurance benefits said that urgent care wasn't covered. She showed me the information and I knew that it wasn't correct. I told her that I was only supposed to pay 10% of the visit and that we had come in last year with the exact same insurance and that I only paid 10%. She proceeded to catch an attitude with me and was unnecessarily snotty. She said ""Well, this is what it says."" I asked her to pull up a previous visit with my daughter and she said she couldn't do that. I really don't know why considering my daughter is a minor and I am her mother. So, since I don't have hundreds of dollars at my disposal, we had to leave untreated and drive all the way back to Fuquay Varina. I called my insurance company bright and early Monday morning and of course I was correct. They told me that they do not subscribe to any online benefits information for providers and that they should have called the number on the card for providers and they could have heard the automated benefits info for our policy. I am upset and disappointed that my son was not treated and I wasted time and gas money. I did find out that their weekend front desk person is not the same as the person during the week. They need more competent staff! more

Very Professional and Caring 3/4/2012

I am new to Cary and read the reviews this morning after searching for a place to go for immediate medical attention. I was very concerned due to the reviews but decided to go. I was expecting the worse and what I got was the best treatment I have received from any Urgent Care. Everyone was very professional and kind and Dr. McKinney helped me with my medical emergency in the most caring manner. Even though I was really sick and didn't care how nice everyone was as long as I got help, it was a bonus to be treated so kind. more

Accent Urgent Care in Cary 11/9/2010

I was referred to Accent Urgent Care by a nurse at a pulmonary clinic who could not see my mother right-away, but, who new how desperate I needed to get my friskie feeble 97 y/o mother an appointment asap. At Accent Urgent Care in Cary, I was assisted and graciously accommodated by the front desk staff; after a 5-minute wait; a nurse took us back to the examination room and again; I was very impressed with the thoroughness, concern, courtesy and kindness given to my mother as she took her vitals; then, the Doctor came in; examined her very thoroughly and asked a lot of questions and explained to me and my mother her diagnosis and medical care very carefully to me. I appreciate this kind of medical care and walked out feeling very confident my mother's best interest was taken into consideration. I live in Garner; but, the drive to this Urgent Care was well worth it. more

Not a serious approach to medical care 10/28/2010

I went in to the urgent care with a cough that has lasted for 2 weeks with no other symptons (no fever, no fatigue, BP good, pulse ox good, etc). They listened to my lungs..looked in my mouth..and concluded that I would probably be ok. This entire, less-than-thorough process took a total of 5 minutes (no lie). I spent more time (20 mins) waiting in the waiting room. more

meds with a side of major attitude 7/27/2009

I have thought about my experience for a few days and decided that I am justified in my displeasure with the treatment I received at Accent Urgent Care. The nurses are rude and seem unhappy to be there. One nurse bought the doctors orders in the room and without even looking at me started rattling off instuctions. I asked her a question, she gave me a sarcastic, put out response of ""uh no"", turned and walked out the door. Really? The doctor was nice and it's a shame that she has such unpleasant people working there. Bottom line, good doctor, got my meds, in and out in half hour, treated poorly. Luckily, I don't get sick very often. Pros: fast Cons: rude nurses more
